Hello

Just in case you are yet to get a response to this, I will advise as a student, you should have a long term view and invest in dividend paying stocks with good fundamentals. Play safe by investing in the banking sector...GTB and Zenith are cool but you may also look into penny stocks like FCMB. I will suggest Capital Bancorp Plc..I have been using them since the past 7 years and their service has been awesome. You can register on their e-portal by clicking the link below:
https://www.capitalbancorpngonline.com/IW/NewAccount/Index
or speak with one of their investment Officers Opeyemi on 08070708987 for more clarification.
Welcome to the capital market. I wish you the very best!

Mark down is on closure date. If the closure is a range it's done on the first day.

Looks like the qualification date already passed before the announcement.....
90kobo buy-out is not fair on minority shareholders in my opinion....

Hello Nairalander, my mother bought Guiness shares in the 70s and the last time she claimed the dividends was in 1995. Fast forward to 2021 she want to claim the dividends again but her country has changed as she now lives in the US with my siblings..,I called the agency in charge and I am told she need to instruct her bank to issue an e-mandate. Her account has not been in use since 2016 when she left Nigeria. My question is can I, her son go to the bank to find out the status of her account and what can I do to get the bank to send the e-mandate to the agency in charge of the shares. She is 85 years old she can't really do much..Please, Advise on what to do. Thanks in advance.

She should instruct the registrar (for Guinness) to transfer shareholding in Guinness to you.

After that, you can use your Nigerian bank and broker to get dividend and trade the shares.

Is the agent a registrar?

I suggest you visit Veritas Registrar to get the right information.

I bought honey well and Dang Sugar when I was in secondary school..... I must tell you...The NSE market is prone to BIG manipulation and rigging system just a reflection of the Country ... I've also observed Nigerian industries are not that healthy as such as the government policy could quickly have an effect on them....(You cam wake up one day and hear that Dangote Cement is about to be acquired...lol)

If you want to invest... I will suggest Nigerian Banks(like ACCESS, Gt, zenith....and penny for WEMA -you can wait a little for a drawback or buy in tranches) or US market..... please do your DD...make you no carry katakata for years....

Pls when is MTN, Zenith and Dan sugar releasing their dividends. Meristem have charged me 1k to run it but up till 2 to 3 months now, I have not seen any alert

Going there will be good, going with good lawyer is better.

All you need is transfer of ownership, they (registrar) will have to be verify from her before going ahead.

There are two issues to handle here and if one is done properly the other will be easy.

First issue is that your mum's bank account has gone domant that is the first issue to be cleared. The bank account needs to be reactivated and that can be done by contacting the bank through mail or call.
Mind you the bank can not attend to a third party in this regard.

Once the account is reactivated,
The other thing to do is send a completed e-mandate form to the registrars in charge.
All outstanding dividend not older than 12 years will be credited to her bank account.

If you wish to take possession of the shares going forward, then your mum will have to open a cscs account if she doesn't have one. She can then demat the shares if they are still in paper certificates.
You will have to open a cscs account with the same stockbroking firm. From anywhere in the globe a transfer mandate can be executed and all the shares becomes yours going forward.
