The current people piloting the affairs of this country are big fools. Forgetting that they won't be there forever, I expected them to be more civil in their actions. D question I would like to ask any of them is that, when u are no longer in position of authority and the government of the day, starts using the same technology u setup to censor ur activities, what would ur reaction be?

B4 they came to power, they use the power of the internet to a great advantage. What if the internet was censored then?

And one things these fools we have in authority don't know is that, they are setting precedence.

I weep for Nigerian my country!

Super development!

We can't keep allowing persons with inordinate intensions, in the guise of investors or promoters of free speech, to continue to have field days in our cyberspace.

It is a step in the right direction. Africa and Nigeria have irresponsibly remained a market for opportunistic investors, who only care about promoting their businesses and investments, against all odds.

Insensible technology use is dangerous for national security.

If you were better informed, you wouldn't find any disconnect between what the FG is proposing and enhancing security in the country.

I don't think Boko Haram/ ISWAP uses social media much to disseminate information

Enlighten us since you know the difference but failed to explain them in your post.

Freedom of expression but little by little, they will soon set Nigeria on fire by fake news, photoshoped images, hate speeches and inciting comments.

Ask your self where did you learn these terms? You certainly didn't learn them in Nigerian textbook or out on the street.

These are American feminist (AKA BLM) pro-leftist terms. so congrats you are a product of propaganda of leftist media as Twitter is a pro left outlet where one political part has absolute freedom and another party doesn't.

We need censorship and we need it now before another problem adds to what Nigerians are facing

If ordinary FM radio can cause Rwanda genocide then Nigeria must be scared of fake news

So sad, all these efforts cuz of one man's ego, as of today pounds is #710 at the black market, but the priority is how to censor an App, there is a reason Hitler has a legacy through out history and it's because of this particular type of leadership.

I agree with you 100%.

We need these tools to deal with bandits, kidnappers, terrorists including BH and Igbos. This will allow us to see and know what these terrorists are saying, who they are saying it to, intercept their communications, and save Nigerian lives and property.

If you are not a criminal and you are not doing anything illegal, you have nothing to worry about.

America the land of democracy uses the same method and tools to detect and foil terrorist operations in the planning state way before anything happens to innocent Americans.

WTF does this has to do with social media kid.

America is NOT a democracy. Its a republic

I hope they are also desperate in adopting the anti-corruption laws in China; death penalty more specifically.

Not the one you'll control media, then some perpetual dullards will pilfer the Country to stupor.

If these ones had their way, no one would have any info on the incidences of kidnappings, herdsmen killings, banditry going on all over the Country. More Nigerians would even fall victim to criminals due to lack of information.

Instead of facing the security challenges squarely, dialoguing with those they should to make peace and clearing the forests of criminals, they are on a quest to keep the citizens gagged and uninformed by blocking apps.

This administration is a disaster!

Adding Gboy and my name in one sentence is not cool. Some people who lack comprehension will misinterpret it and think I'm a Gboy.

I hardly use VPN, but when I do, it's only to withdraw money from my UK PayPal. I only do legit business.

Anyway, I use remote desktop connection whenever I want a VPN and it's $15+ per month. Nothing beats it and it can't be banned.

My problem with comments like this Is that they are not properly thought out in a bid to comment on first page .

The ability to think and critically analyse issses is lost in being a talkative.

Do you even understand the difference between censorship and totalitarian acts ?

I doubt you have the capacity to engage me in an Intelligent conversation

Lol.

You sounded more talkative and irrational.

What the FG proposed is censorship.

Totalitarianism has no place around the subject at all, except of course, for persons who just want to talk for the sheer sake of it.

Your post gives you out as lacking in capacity for such multi-prong discourse.

Buhari will not consult China on help to overcome insecurity but on a minor issue with twitter he has met with China on how to crush twitter and other social media that refuses his subjection. This is an act of terrorism against free communication.

The guy is absolutely correct. Its totalitarianism because it was done without the consent of the people(either through a referendum or the national assembly).
Totalitarianism is a form of government that attempts to assert total control over the lives of its citizens. It is characterized by strong central rule that attempts to control and direct all aspects of individual life through coercion and repression.

Above is the definition of the term. The guy u quoted is way above your IQ level.
