Why do you need to know her University? So that people will bomb it as they now did with Western Illinois University? I heard yesterday from someone at the embassy that many applicants came with Western Illinois University I-20 and almost, if not all of them, including someone who is fully funded, were refused.

So I have advised those who are in touch with me not to reveal their schools on this forum. I advise potential applicants that will be approved to keep their school out as well. Let every student find their own school and have a unique profile, so that they will take you serious when you apply for your visa at the embassy.

For your information, WIU was funding students until over 2500 Nigerian students bombed the school with applications. Now, they are reaping the result with many refusals.

Remember, the United States has over 5000 colleges and universities, so find your own school. Do the work! Don't avoid the work! It will help your journey. This is for all of you here!

The issue of posting school name has lingered for long. And I see some people trying to impose their opinion on another, which I feel is wrong. I've been reading transcripts for a while and it's only recently I saw people censoring school information with "xyz" "abc" etc. - I doubt if people gain anything from such. It's better such transcript is kept to themself. I check indian blogs I don't see any of this censoring, if for any means they are always in unison in schools they apply to. I don't see any fuss in posting your school information. Some say it shows laziness in approach for those that copy and apply there, well wouldn't you rather want your Nigerian fellow with you in same school.

The idea of a school "casting" like WIU or University of new haven is a weak argument. People still get their visas from these schools, almost daily. The VOs are aware that most international students select these schools because of their low and affordable cost of attendance.

My deductions should be, if anyone wants to post their school they should be free to do so. Let's encourage a symbiotic environment and not a parasitic one, the sky is too big for everyone to fly. Hoarding information because "we want people to suffer before they get it" is a Nigerian mentality that's why we have things so hard in our land.

Visa will reach everyone, it's only a matter of time and chance.

You’ll need to register at www.wes.org and select the country you want to further your studies either USA or Canada.

Also you’ll select course by course (I Cap) evaluation after which you’ll make a payment of 220 dollars or so( i am not so sure, confirm). Enter the details of all your post secondary and print out transcript request form.

After printing it out, fill it and send to your school. They will process it and ask you to pay. Make sure your school add your reference number to the Transcript they will be sending. When you make payment to Wes, the reference Number will be generated.

Hope this helps
I really do appreciate this. Thank you so much

I know an immigration officer at the Ikoyi office. However, I am not promising you he will be able to help you if your application is still in the pool. But he is a nice man and he will assist you when you mention my name. I can't post his number here, so send a DM.

Hello @fairheart. Please can you connect me to the man too? Much grateful. Also, will be contacting you later to help pay for sevis for two of us.

Anyone can say what they like, choose to post their school or not. I don't really care! But if indeed you only wanted to know how the interview went and how students performed, then you do not need to know the school they are going. It is utterly unnecessary for your information. Your argument is useless.

Have you asked: Why am I so interested in other people's school when I have my own school, selected out of a well-done home work?

so the person that gave you that information was listening to all the VO's that interviewed every applicant and concluded that all WIU faithfuls were denied, he/she saw all of it? making up shit to drive home your point is not the best, someone who's Visa has already been approved should share his/her school that's one of the essence of these thread from judging from the past transcripts I have read, lighting my candle from yours does not extinguish your own flame, that is my opinion.

I key into ur blesssn
Patsido:
VISA APPROVED.
June 16, 2021.

All glory and Adoration to him who is able to do much more than we can ever ask or imagine.

This is my 3 Attempt. First was October 19, 2020 with my 9 yr old daughter at Lagos ( Florida State University, Tallahassee. Scholarship $15,000). Second Attempt, I applied alone December 2, 2020 at Abuja( Florida State University).

Third Attempt today June 16, 2021 ( Abuja). I applied with my 6 month old baby and 9 years old daughter. I couldn't imagine leaving her behind.
Appointment was for 8am. Got to the Embassy 6.45am. The rush of those hustlers at the embassy is indescribable. No matter what they asked me I just told them am fine and I don't need anything. Abuja Embassy had a lot of applicants today. When I got to the CGI official to arrange my documents, he asked for my passport photographs and it was no where to be found. I was just wondering which Kain local trouble be dis one. He asked me to take another picture for the 3 of us. I had to go back get my phone to retrieve soft copies. They printed for N3,000 after asking for N7500.
My interview finally took place at about 11.30am. I was interviewed by the white lady. They were just a male and female VO. I noticed the female VO was dishing out more approvals than denials.

Funding( Scholarship)- $40,000
Dependents- $13000
Deficit- $31000
Total deficit- $44,000

V.O: pass me your I-20 and passport

Me: Excuse ma'am I stutter sometimes ( ,)

V:O: That's ok

V.O: I see you are going to University of xxxxcx for your masters in Law.

Me: yes ma'am

VO: Are those your only children?

Me: yes ma'am

VO: How old are they?

VO: The baby is 6 months and the other is 9yrs old.

VO: You have been to the US?

Me: yes I got a child birth Visa in October 2017 and we bought our tickets shortly after but lost my pregnancy. We decided to change it to a Christmas vacation so that I can have a change of environment. I have the medical report.

VO: ( she kept nodding her head) and said sorry about that.

V.O: what is your highest qualification?

Me: I graduated with a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Jos in 2003 and proceeded to the Nigerian Law School same year and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2004.

Meanwhile she was reading and typing. I just dey kabash under my face mask. I dey cancel every negative remark on my profile.

VO: what is this masters going to do for you?

Me: Over the years my legal Career has been hinged on my Bachelor's degree and Work experience. I do not have a masters degree and because of the demand for legal pratictioners who are skilled in Nigeria, it has become imperative for me to acquire an advance knowledge in the field of law. This program will equip me with skills and knowledge to negotiate multinational transactions and regulatory framework for foreign trade and investment. This program will also equip me with skills and knowledge to resolve international sales disputes as I will be handling legal issues that arise from Multinational transaction on behalf of my clients in the corporate and commercial setting upon my return to Nigeria. I am also looking to improving my professional credentials so that I can secure a lucrative post in a multinational company in Nigeria.

VO: what have you been doing as a lawyer?

Me: I incorporate new companies, handle post incorporation processes, render legal opinion on my behalf...( She cut me off)

VO: ( she stops typing & starts looking at my I-20). You have a scholarship of $40,000 and the deficit will be taken care of by your husband?

Me: yes

VO: what does he do ?

Me: He is the CEO of xxxxx Nig LTD a furniture company that manufactures metal and wooden furniture for Schools in the Northeast on behalf of UNICEF, Educational Establishments and Individuals.
He also builds living Apartment and office spaces and offers for rent

VO: Ok I will be keeping your passports..... ( I no remember this last part)

Me: I was shocked when she made this statement. I never realized how this denials affected me. I was like approval with my two kids? She didn't ask for statement of account, accommodation , daycare, Evidence of Elementary school for my 9 years old

I already made arrangements for all of the above. I have been asking God to arise for me and he did.

Please if you see Jesus thank him for me. I shed tears of joy that my daughter asked me " Mummy we didn't win again"

I gained a whole lot from the thread and it's fair that I come here to present my transcript.

Thank you Fairheart, for being so selfless.
Thank you Zeelady for the tips.

You hate what you don't understand! Hating is a thing that people without understanding and experience do, and so you are free to keep hating. I don't care! That is that for you!

And let me add here, I don't have anything against WIU! I have over 12 students I personally guide and prepare for interview. The school officials themselves complained that they were burdened by the number of application they received from Nigeria alone, including people applying for courses they do not qualify for. This is from one of my people who were approved in December.

GUYS, FOR GOODNESS SAKE, I AM DOING THIS FOR ALL OF YOU!!!!!

WHY DO YOU ALL THINK I AM AGAINST YOU? I AM NOT! BECAUSE OF INCESSANT PRIVATE MESSAGES I RECEIVED FROM PEOPLE HERE, I WAS FORCED TO PUT THESE STUDENTS TOGETHER SO THEY SYNERGIZE AND GET THEIR STUFFS RIGHT. I AM NOT LOOKING FOR A VISA FOR GOD SAKE!

Let me explain this to you: the more applicants take i-20s from a single school, the more they will refuse applicants with such i-20. If it gets so bad, once they see WUI on your i-20, they just ask you few questions and the next thing is I am sorry. Do you guys want to be wasting visa fee? wasting time? getting heart broken? I am not so sure what you guys are against exactly!

Maybe y'all are having someone pumping money into your application. But if you are working your ass out to make your own money, you will invest it on application with high chances of approval. Don't you guys get it?

The purpose of the f-1 visa interview is to assess your credibility for the visa. Nothing more! When 100 people takes WIU i-20 to the school in 2 days, what do you think will happen? how do you think you will be seen? They know that for such high number of students to have same i-20 from same school, it must have been cheap.

This morning, I have an applicant who is going to George Washington University to study human resources management, with total cost of attendance of about $60K. Her i-20 was shared with another VO and she was still approved. While it may be her time and God's favour, one thing stands out: her school. GWU is like an Ivy League school, even though it is a blank admission!

I care about you guys and not against you! At the same time, y'all can do what you like! All the best!

Ur brother in the US must have filled the same details of parents as u on his DS160, maybe same address, maybe same sponsor sef. Looks like not saying the truth contributed to d refusal. VO probably asked that question cos he/she feels u have ties in the US and have a chance of not coming back, and u attempting to cover up that information perfectly justifies what the VO is thinking. U should go again and say the truth.

Guys, I have nothing against any of you going to WIU. My advise for you is to prepare well for your interview.
Know why you pick the school
Know why you pick your course
Know what you will be studying
Be ready to link what you do now and what the degree will do for you.
Don't copy people's transcript.
Tell your story as it is, and make it unique.

You may be refused and you may be approved. It is 50/50! In the first place, having admission, paying sevis and visa fee doesn't guaranteed visa approval. And being refused once, twice, thrice and so on doesn't mean it is over. First week of June, I have an applicant that got his visa at 5th attempt with WIU i-20! No scholarship or funding! But I know others that have been refused as well. Now, it seems I am done on this topic.

If you hate a good advise and the person who gives it, know that it is a blessing unto that person!

Wo, I pity you! grin Searching for school is suffering to you? Doing your home work is suffering to you? I pray that the Good Lord open your mind to know what is good for you and your future. Amen!

There is a reason why initiative and proactivity is part of personal leadership training in top universities.
Last month, a young man sent me a message from this group. He got a fully funded phd admission from the University of Georgia. His admission even came with free air travels, and other benefits, with surplus. I looked at the i-20 and I was impressed. There was another one, University of Massachusetts. I have seen a number of them, in their early and mid 20s.

Even their transcripts are usually unique; they don't copy, and they are here on Nairaland. What can you learn from them? Initiative! It is a powerful quality! When you learn it, you can move things most people in your age group cannot move; you start things yourself, you push yourself, you want the best, you do your own thing. That is simply what you do when you search for your own school. It is not suffering at all, but of course, you think your so-called Nigerian elders want you to suffer because, in your head, you have identify suffering with hard work. Where on earth is doing things right a suffering?

I am not saying you must do everything by yourself or that you cannot pick up something from others to assist your process or journey, but do things right. You can always ask for help, and I think that is why most people are here.

Don't despise a good advise, for it will guide you during difficult times.

Most schools will only allow you transfer after your first semester with them but you can stylishly ask the program coordinator of the school you intend to transfer your sevis to that you know someone who wants to do that and if they can be of help to the person. I know some schools that help in that regard.
2.
A. I am not sure I came across this question on my form.
Whatever you do, make sure you say the truth. It helps

Thanks for the feedback, seems Q1 is a bit tricky, just to clarify, you mean I should ask Umass if they can assist with transfer of Sevis.

For Q2A - Contact Person or Organization in the United States?

Your U.S. Point of Contact can be any individual in the U.S. who knows you and can verify, if necessary, your identity. If you do not personally know anyone in the U.S., you may enter the name of the store, company, or organization you plan to visit during your trip.

The funny thing is the OP (congratulations by the way) who gained admission for Law actually put her previous admissions and even funding details, but then hid the current one. That itself passes across a message that fleshes out the elephant in this room. But, to each their own.

Hide or don't hide. It is well with everybody. A lot of I, I, I, and me, me, me, and ego playing out here.

But honestly there is no pressure to even share your transcript in the first place is there?

Check that question again. Are u sure it is not who can verify all you have filled in your country of residence. Check again to be sure
So funny thing is I just filled this question you pointed out now, and those I put as contacts aren't of aware of my plans..

However, here's the Q I was referring to:
