Good day to all nairalanders and happy weekend to everyone out there.
After i graduated from the polytechnic, i decided to learn hair dressing and make up artist, i have just completed my service there, so i decided to pick up a job so that i can save money to get all the equipment for my freedom.
i would like to seek your opinion concerning the two jobs in front of me, firstly is the bank cleaner and the salary is 25,000 and the agent will be deducting 2k everymonth, and the transport is 200naira daily.
working hour is from 7:30am-4:30pm
The teaching job is just 15K, and the school is not far from my house, please i need your advice on which one to choose.

I will advise you to take the teaching job with the following reasons:

1. You will have enough time to work on other things after closing hours, probably having another business, like shop that someone will manage for you before you close

2. School lesson means added money

3. You can earn from private lessons

4. If you plan to further your education, teaching is the best

5. You will be a little bit respected than a cleaner, Nigerians see cleaners as shit

Listen to other people opinions as you make your decision

Hi,
I'll advise you go for the cleaning job, because your duties are static.

Unless you know more about the school management policies and you can cope with them, then you can consider teaching. ( cry some school can drain the hell of you, even after school period you won't be able to do much, because you'll be stressed out).

Wish you all the best.

Pls just go for school teaching cus bank cleaning is out of it. You wil have to be in the office before 7am so that u can finish cleaning before bank open for customers. U have to clean the toilet sometimes customers will use it without flourishing it and leave the shit there for u. The bank staffs will use u as a messenger to buy food for them and other things. Sometimes u have to work on Saturday cus of general cleaning. Please just go for teaching cus there u will able to learn more, and u have time for ur self.

Teaching please.. you can augment the salary with private lessons or extra lessons for interested students

It's better than going to wash bank public toilets IMO where you can get infections and spend double of what you earn to treat yourself.

I don't like both.

The agent no get joy.

Take the cleansing job because of the prompt salary. It's even an outsourced job but it's still better than working in a one man business.

I'll advise you go for the bank job since you're not trying to build a career here but to save up for your biz.
At least after the deductions from the Bank salary, you'll still have something tangible to save and roll by. Its also a plus because you close early and still have time to do your side hustle.

Teaching job is not like it used to be as they now close almost 3, to 4pm. Plus you'll hardly have time for yourself because of lesson notes and other prep you have to do on a daily basis for the number of subjects the students are offering.

It's also stressful and mentally draining trying to figure out the best method to teach and impart your pupils. Not to Also forget meeting certain target set by the school for the pupils. 15k, is not worth all that stress.

Dear OP, can you look for something else? I think you deserve better. Please try to explore employment advertisements sites and apply for something better.
You didn't tell us your journey so far in the search to advise you.
It took me 6 years after graduation to get what is termed a good job. I know how many aptitude tests and interviews I attended let alone the applications I sent or vacancies I applied for.
If you choose the cleaning role, you'll be an errand person for even an OND holder, depending on the bank.

This question alone is very painful embarassed

25k or 15k for a graduate?

Not even up to $100 a month

Whichever you decide to do, please make sure you put your hairdressing skill to work too

You can make your pupils hair for a small amount whilst you teach, same with the bank job.

The thing about skills is that you start to lose it, if you stop practicing.

Teaching and learn as you teach, make sure you reach for your peak while you run your side hustle.

I stopped teaching when my business stoov the test of time. Bank cleaner may continue to retard you, low your self esteem but remember teaching will sharpen your brain

Teaching is a career. The other is not. If the policies on teaching are implemented, you are on a great career path.

Cleaner job is what you hold on to while looking for a better job.

The two jobs are not to be compared.

Teaching is a noble profession.
What you need is passion, then it is a very good profession.
Teaching is the only profession which builds people for all other professions.
It is a golden opportunity to mold young minds to become the leaders of tomorrow.
I have been in this profession for the last 6 years, by choice.
I am thoroughly enjoying every minute of it.
It has been an amazing journey of self discovery, molding young minds who are doing extremely well and excelling in their careers.
If I have to live again, I would come back to this profession by choice.
I am proud of all my students!
