Yeah with 20,000 dalasis ($400)he can get all the papers. But it may not be immediately he starts

20k for what papers? Haba.

Business registration is 20 usd. That's it... All other fees are after you have started the business.

Can someone travel to gambia from Nigeria by road?
You can go through road, it will take you 6 days.
From Cotonu to Bamako, Mali 3 days from Bamako to Senegal-Gambia 3 days. It may reach 7 days.

At the start the most you will pay is 20 dollars. Tax is paid to GRA so they are not separate. Tax is 3% of annual turnover.

The other tax I mentioned is for KMC, the $20 you mentioned is the 500 dalasis to register the business but for GRA first time you need to pay between 10,000 to 17,000 dalasis as a foreigner

I have been to banjul their capital once, stayed 2months there,
It's a small(smaller than south east) country but they are organized .
Light didn't go off during my stay there and they are cool with Nigerians,
No jobs for an immigrant except you are coming to set up an sme .
Accomodation is costly but food is very cheap
They are cool people.

There are jobs for immigrants.

Lots of medical personel, teachers etc. A few guys have made into banking though that's harder.

With a little advice. have lived in Gambia till 2015,Gambia is cool as long as you dont talk anyhow cos they have spies when yaya jammeh was the president. in terms of business very good. We have tons of naija guys in serekunda. I lived in Lamin and one other area which I cant remember. get a shop close to naija but make sure your stay is always up to date cos immigrations raid like anyhow. but when it comes to money my brother you would make money in any skillful way as long as it's not illegal cos spies plenty. Considering your business. what do you want go into? na question be that. I would advice you go there first and look for a teaching job which h is the easiest to get and from there start scanning to know what you can venture into because if you just go and start anything my brother you go hear am.

I don't have that kinda mentality of Nigeria not being safe, can we say USA isn't safe too cos guns are everywhere too?

No matter how hard Nigeria is,it's still preferable to where u know virtually nothing about.i am not saying Nigeria is the best country to stay but do u know the policy as regards foreigners opening business there?

Do u know how the locals in the business treat foreigners?

Do u even know the best location, state to site your business?

With that capital, what gives him the assurance that he will do something better than those that have been on ground?

What u people don't understand about business is that once u get to a particular place u are snatching customers from people that have been there so u have to present something better than what they have to offer?

Has he even check the value of their money to ours?

See so many questions,I am not discouraging him but he should look b4 he leaps b4 jumping from frying pan to fire

I disagree with your last paragraph, you're discouraging him, people travel to Europe, Asia etc without knowing anyone or having plenty money, at the end,it ends in praise.
Their currency is stronger than ours.

Yes but is not a problem since is only 3 frontiers to get to Gambia. Highest he drop N1000. But he should change like 20k to franco CFA for easy payment and buy of food on the journey.

Chibueze775:
but someone with 700k naira can start a nice barber shop

Gambia!!! very very nice place! I go there very often and there are so many Nigerians there..

I always have mad fun going there.... beautiful place with beautiful girls.... cheesy

Now to your question!

your N700k is about 70k Dalasis now

You need accommodation, budget D25k for a good room and palour

You need a good shop in a good location budget D30k for 6 months (rent in Gambia has gone up)

Your business registration can wait, but you must do your work permit ASAP, budget D2k for that.

Now you will need to furnish both house and shop.... for a small moderate furnishing for both... budget about about D25k

I will advice you get the barbing equipment from Naija before going.

Now you can see that your N700k is a little small, because you have to make provisions for feeding and transportation before you find your feet...but if you know a kind and nice person in Gambia that can accommodate you for a while, then you can cope.

Do you know anyone in Gambia?

You are right

You just hit the nail on the head
feelgoodstuffs:

They treat Nigerians well and the country is good for business as far as you have money to start a good business better than starting from scratch, a lot of Nigerians are doing well over there, I have been living there over a decade and I can boldly tell you it is better than countries like Turkey, SA, Dubai, most Nigerians in these countries I mentioned are just managing except you’re into Yahoo.

Is not easy to see that money oo, the stronger the currency the harder to get it. I move from Gambia to Germany. In Gambia I live in big flat and can afford it comfortably but no enough income to invest back home while in Germany I live in small apartment, income is good, I cannot afford a flat like in Gambia but can build houses in Nigeria.

Brother it depends on what you’re doing in Gambia, I know people who have build more than 4 houses living in Gambia, I have visited SA and Turkey but I feel Gambia is better.
