There's equal level ground for everyone. The women in my life started from the scratch just like you. They went to school, got a degree and a decent Job. All they needed was work hard all the way to the top. Being paid for diligent services rendered. I have sisters, one is a nurse working her way to the top of the Nigeria Civil Service, like seriously another one works with the US Marines and She is very successful and wasn't on any of your payrolls.
That was the part i didn't like.
Peace.
They were/are on the payrolls of men, and everything they are today (God bless them) is because men made it possible for them... according to the OP of course.

Your argument is with him.

Cheers...

Boo hoo...

Don't you see how upsetting it has made you to read a statement ascribing the successes of women to men, but in the same vein, you and the A-team are very comfortable ascribing the failures of women to men... cheesy

How about everyone (women or men) just take responsibility for their own failures, mistakes, and successes?

My posts in the travel section are quite simple: travel legally, learn the language, obey the laws, pay your taxes, don't discourage people from fleeing Nigeria when you are abroad, convert your money to dollars, choose countries with straightforward citizenship routes, choose a good school, study relevant courses etc. If those sound foolish to you, it is quite unfortunate.

Nigerian men doing well individually isn't the basis for this thread but collectively? Nigerian men are doing badly, men not women have dominated the political scene since amalgamation yet the country is home to more poor people than anywhere else and the second highest unemployment rate after Namibia. The economic policies so far have been formulated and implemented by men not women. Nigeria is a failed society and that blame is on the men. Unless you mention one developed country where women were at the forefront of civilisation, then I am wrong but as long as there is none, I maintain my stance.

Nigerian men flee daily to developed countries for better life, how many Emiratis have fled to Nigeria for same better life? Don't they like prosperity? Why should an Emirati woman move to Nigeria to "hustle" when her men have built the UAE into a functioning society? How many South Korean ladies have you read/seen as prostitutes in the UAE? Why would they resort to that when South Korea is prosperous? Which gender was at the forefront for making the country what it is today? According to you, Nigerian men are doing exceptionally well than South Korean men? Which country is more prosperous/functioning/has the rule of law/safer? Biologically and evolutionary, men or male species are the forefront of providing for their households, why should it be different from creating a functioning society?

Let's say the bold is true but what have women done to change the narrative the few times they've held leadership positions or have been part of it.

Nigerian women are among the most unfaithful in the world (Durex studies). For a gender that relishes sex, utilising same activity to amass resources will only come naturally. And its not a man's fault.

I was part of a team that conducted research many years back on women sex life and since that time I refused to trust them to some extent. Even rich women in places like ikoyi and VI were not left out, all having extra marital affairs. One out of 50 will say only her husband.

This blame game has now taken a different route, it is now gender that is the cause of Nigeria's problems grin grin grin

I have always admonished Nigerians to stop blaming religion, tribe or corrupt politicians for the problems we face, but rather blame the unitary system that we are practicing.

Now Gerrard59 has switched from blaming religion, tribe or corrupt politicians to blaming a gender. Oga Gerrard59, please it is the unitary system of government that is to blame, the countries you mentioned implemented systems of govt that suits them and helps bring about development.

So rather than apportioning blame on corrupt politicians, tribe, religion and now gender, why not blame the system, and join the calls for restructuring and true federalism?

Sequel to the above thread, it shows the severity of poverty in Nigeria which cuts across all geopolitical zones (Nigeria is not the world’s poverty capital for nothing). However, for Nigerian women to indulge in prostitution as a means to eat/survive, it tells us one thing – Nigerian men have failed their women.

All over the developed world, it is the men not women who made those societies what they are. Whether South Korea, Malaysia, Uruguay, Singapore, Canada etc., the men made them work. Meanwhile, Nigeria – most populous Black Country globally – has her women selling their bodies for basic items such as what to eat and where to sleep. I would not delve into this malaise as a racial one as I do not know how it is for black women in Kenya, Angola, Brazil or the US but the quality of life women enjoy depend on the level of sophistication their men have built their societies into. This is something Nigerian men have failed at and specifically, those above 40 years. These men failed, woefully, to create a society that is functioning, orderly, prosperous, safe and enjoyable for their women. Even for societies that are adjudged as not gender friendly for women (South Korea, UAE and Japan), their women live way more prosperous lives than their Nigerian counterparts.

We have many Nigerian women trading their bodies in Italy, the UAE and parts of Europe but we don’t have similar or even half the proportion of European ladies doing same in Nigeria. How many Italian women have you see in Allen Avenue or any red-light district in Nigeria? How many South Korean women have you seen selling their bodies in Nigeria? How many Singaporean ladies have you seen/read travel to Nigeria to “hustle”? I am an ardent reader of Singaporean news and not once have I read that Singaporean ladies sell their bodies to pay school fees, to eat or get a job but these things are rampant in Nigeria because unlike Singapore where the likes of Lee Kuan Yew and Co built a prosperous society for them to thrive, Nigerian men of same generation ruined the country. Worse still, their successors exacerbated these issues through wanton corruption and rife ethnic bigotry compared to Lee’s successors who doubled down on his achievements by diversifying Singapore’s economy thereby generating more jobs for their citizens. Same in Japan where women constitute a larger proportion of luxury goods’ consumers because their men have created a prosperous place for them to be able to afford those products. Women of the world's poverty capital can only dream of being major consumers of luxury goods.

The women who have held positions pivotal to Nigeria's development are infinitesimal compared to the number of men. The final buck stops at the table which a man controls. Okonjo Iweala had Jonathan while Zainab Ahmed has Buhari.

Op is 100% correct on the fact that Nigerian men destroyed the country and we are where we are today, but he is very wrong on passing the blame of whoring and prostitution to men, the ratio of decent ladies to indecent ones is 60:40, the reason why people think the indecent ones are everywhere is because they are loud and show off their glits and glamour with the help of social media, these sets of ladies were not forced, they chose the fastest way to make money, it is a choice, they refuse to toil with their hands and work smart, do you want to say we dont have women suffering or finding things hard for them yet refused to sell their body? They abound everywhere in our society, pls nobody should be blamed for a person or a gender's choice of living, after all, there are also male prostitutes who are discreet about their way of life cos of shame, they were not forced at gunpoint.

Some half-truths and hasty generalizations here. In the countries you quoted prostitution still occur. Prostitution is not the result of poverty alone. China, UK, Japan, US, Australia and South Korea record some of the highest revenue from pornography and by extension prostitution (source: https://www.familysafe.com/pornography-statistics/). Yet these countries are advanced and according to you this must have been wrought by the men in those societies. Would you also conclude that the men in those societies are responsible for the prevalence of pornography and prostitution in those countries? Another half truth is the conclusion that men alone are the drivers of economic prosperity or doom. Well if this is true the wives of such men, for most of them are married, should also be rewarded or blamed for their role in economic success or their complacency or complicity in economic doom as the case may be. While I agree that a lot of our male leaders have failed us but this does not lead to the conclusion that all men are failures - that is a hasty generalization - because though a few male political leaders have failed there are responsible fathers that have provide for their children and raise them to become successful and influential.

We should reflect deeply before rushing to post stuff!

Hey. Gerrard59.

Look at this angle. Women are responsible for which man has access to their wombs and as a consequence has a chance to procreate.

For Nigeria to have sunk this low on Economic and living standards, women must have been terribly choosing unintelligent, dumb, stupid and dull men when it comes to mating.

I mean, if women only allows intelligent and smart men to procreate. Nigeria will be filled with Albert Einsteins not Buharis. grin

Women want to enjoy the privileges that come with being adults without the responsibility and accountability. See, ladies, you have to either behave like adults and own up to your mistakes/poor choices or admit you are kids in adult's body and let us make the decisions for you, like how it's done centuries ago. Can't have it both ways.

The truth is the black race headed by the men are failures. A conquered race and they're not willing to change the narrative.
I don't know if it's the genetics or the culture.
No other race respects black people.
And our Nigerian brothers are the ones to talk most on building civilisation, when all you were known for was to be enslaved or be colonised.
They are only able to thrive in countries where other races of men have built and laid down a structure.
Our dear brothers only thrive in Nigeria competing with their women, instead of competing with the men in other societies.
It's really sad.
Our men are only really good on talking about sexual matters, and controlling women's toto. Even the thread is still all about policing women's toto and what they do with it.
If it has nothing to do with toto and monitoring women's bodies and choices, count Nigerian men out. Even in the national assembly, they discuss more passionately on issues which promotes child marriage compared to making sure all children get universal education.
No talk about the high maternal mortality rate or the high infant mortality rate due to poor healthcare systems and poverty. Your wives, mothers and children are dying everyday doesn't seem as important as the ones selling their bodies.
It's the prostitution aspect linked to poverty that is more concerning to them.

In fact, I have a hypothesis that the reason why Nigerian women are not attractive to men of other races is because of the extreme privation, servitude and sufferings the average Nigerian woman experiences. Generally, things owned by rich people are viewed favourably than those by their poorer counterparts (https://www.nairaland.com/5886610/racism-against-blacks-reduce-drastically). If Nigeria was as rich as South Korea, many White, Arabian and even Asian men would have cherished and desired Nigerian women because they know these women are invaluable. For instance, they know by marrying a Nigerian woman, they get a chance of being a passport holder which is visa free to 170+ countries (the strength of a passport is linked to how wealthy that country is). However, in reality, this is not true and no South Korean man desires to marry a Nigerian woman because it will accord him permanent residence status or eventual citizenship which is useless. Rather, he would be glad to marry a British lady because their children get to enjoy both worlds which are functioning and prosperous societies. It is the reason countries with powerful passports put up stringent rules regarding citizenship by marriage to curtail situations of men from poorer countries (like Nigeria) deceiving their women via marriage for the sake of being a passport holder.

It is one of the reasons I don’t fault modern day Nigerian women who are into modern day feminism. I can understand their frustrations when they see the benefits of being a woman in a prosperous society. When South Korean women can travel across the country unharmed or when Japanese women can cultivate their crops in peace and not being hacked to death by nomadic terrorists or when Taiwanese ladies don’t engage in sex for grades because the society has the rule of law or when a Norwegian female decides to travel to Singapore without obtaining a visa but her Nigerian counterpart cannot do same. These benefits and many more were as a result of those societies built to functioning states by their men. Those women are enjoying what their men worked/toiled and built for them. Unfortunately, Nigerian women cannot enjoy same because the men have failed terribly to do same. Nigerian women toil daily doing all manner of odd jobs not because they like them but as a result of the poor economic policies and servitude Nigerian men have made the society into.

P.S. Please note that this is not a post in support of modern feminism but a critical analysis of why Nigerian women suffer and what their men can do.

Men create the society, women integrate into that society” – Pansophist

Societies where the laws are in place to protect and provide for women flourish..... those countries flourish.

Why?

Woman is the entry point of human life - she is the moulder, atorishe..... if she is not provided for she can not nurture or mould - the kids come out of the oven not properly baked and those kids take it out on the society - they kill, steal and maim.

No human comes to this world without woman - so it makes sense to give her everything she needs to bake a human and churn out the best.

We need laws that supports family, laws that make men scared of cheating because 50% of his wealth will leave him, we need laws that prevent getting a younger wife etc

why?

Mother feels safer and can raise her kids in harmony as this benefits the society at large. (fi eyin ti to awon omo eh)

It's quite complex issue from that angle because there are stupi.d men everywhere but in those developed countries, stupi.d men don't attain leadership positions in those countries. Whereas in Nigeria, it's the so-called "intellectuals" (actually intellectwats) with degrees from fanciful universities who support these stupi.d men at the helms of affairs by writing epistles and bullcrap. For instance, you've intellectwats defending El-Rufai who has kept mute when wo(men) are being killed in Kaduna. You think that can happen in South Korea?

All you noise is centered around politics. Where few old retarted wicked men occupy. The few men there, held critical position where it's easy to make influence which is binding to everyone.
Nigerian men are doing well.
Are saying women would do better?

Yes, the "noise" surrounds politics became it affects everything from security to economic prosperity to education to even foreign affairs. If a country's politicians are incompetent, no matter how resourceful individual citizens will be/are (Lebanon), the country will be dysfunctional and a failed state. So politics cannot be sidestepped because some Nigerian men are "doing well".

If Nigerian men are doing well, the country wouldn't have two out of top four global terror groups in the country with one even creating a her government. Because some Nigerian men work in oil companies or tech firms earning good salaries doesn't mean Nigerian men are doing well. If men are meant to be the providers in the family, why should it be different in nation building? Fulani herdsmen intentionally kill the young men across ethnic minorities' groups (all of whom are Christians) in the north because those men would be the ones to defend their lands, why should it be different in nation building? Check it, they don't kill the women but strictly the men. There is a reason for that.
