kabe1: I love the fact that's it's a single jet engine, nice concept. Now the F35 will have a competitor now . The NAF should start considering this aircraft 4 Likes 1 Share |

kabe1: It may still take several years before it enters serial production, and the cost will be the most important factor to consider. We still don't know the role the aircraft is being produced for and if NAF has ordered for more JF-17, I doubt they will be considering any such aircraft anytime soon. 2 Likes |

Whyem15: This is exactly why it's perfect for Nigeria. Remember we got our own advanced Jets late. So by the time the JF-17 must have been fully inducted, this aircraft would have achieved maturity. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Roan77: It is targeted at countries like Argentina, UAE (Heavy spender), India (Heavy spender) I think we would be able to afford it. It's an aircraft for the future, so we should have a need for it. 4 Likes |

kabe1: To fight who with it or deter who? We can't fight any country that really has enemies that require stealth aircraft....it better we stick to out jf17 hopefully block 3, and maintain our local champion and build infrastructure and economy with human capacity. A country isn't only about its military. Mind you the Security issues Nigeria has now, isn't about strong or weak military, it's about the other variables that affect human wellbeing that are lacking. Provide and environment that makes the citizens happy , and security would slowly creep in. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Coolliot: You're missing the point. Nigeria does not even invest in it's military. Infrastructure projects constitute by far the largest spending of the government right from Obj to Buhari. This is a military thread, hence we focus on military issues only. The aircraft we have been talking about, we don't even know what it looks like, however it is the most trending military topic today, across the world. Hence our discussions have been centered on it. 2 Likes |

Coolliot: That's the mindset of subservient Beta. This low ball complacent attitude is why Africa ended up the way it is now. The rampant Neo-Colonialism, the Terrorist, Bandits, Pirates, and fundamentalist breeding grounds. More and more foriegn militery bases opening all over the continent being set up for foreign interests that typically clash with the best interests of the host nations. Nigeria should strive to be the best it could be on all fronts economically, socially, and militarily. Nigeria should have had a superior arsenal to Algeria and Egypt by now. It should be Nigeria spearheading all these operations in Mali, Congo, Somalia etc not any d@mn off continent foriegners. Sub Saharan Africans forever dangerously NAIVE trying to be the quiet kid that sits at the back of the classroom. 3 Likes |

NAF WINGS 6 NEW HELICOPTER PILOTS, ASSURES OF SUSTAINED AIR POWER DELIVERY Operational manpower development in the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) received a boost today, 16 July 2021, when the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Oladayo Amao winged another set of 6 helicopter pilots who recently completed their basic flying training at Draken Helicopter Academy in the United Kingdom. In his remark during the winging ceremony, Air Marshal Amao reiterated the importance of the human factor as the most critical airpower component that must be enhanced and sustained for effective and efficient performance. This, according to the CAS, gave reason for the increase in manpower development witnessed in the NAF in recent times. He went on to state that these efforts are expected to place the Service in a dominant position to deliver on its constitutional role more effectively, especially in the light of NAF’s involvement in several internal security operations across the country. The overall effect of these efforts, according to the CAS, is that the NAF, operating in synergy with sister Services and other security agencies, will be better positioned to more effectively counter both domestic and foreign threats to the nation’s security and the wellbeing of our people. Speaking further, Air Marshal Amao revealed that the NAF currently has a total of 195 officers and airmen/airwomen undergoing various training courses abroad cutting across several specialties and trades. He also stated that locally, there are 12 student pilots undergoing Basic Fighter Training at 403 Flying Training School, Kano, while 10 others are undergoing Basic Transport Training at 401 Flying Training School, Kaduna. He emphasized that these courses are aimed at maintaining combat readiness by increasing the number of pilots to man existing aircraft, including the 26 new platforms acquired by the Federal Government in the past 6 years. On the A-29 Super Tucano aircraft, the CAS stated that about 60 NAF personnel, comprising pilots, engineers, technicians, and other specialists, have completed their training on the aircraft in the USA. While encouraging the newly winged pilots, the CAS urged them not to rest on their oars as the feat they have achieved also comes with a burden of responsibility as so much is expected of them. He also advised them to continue to give their best to the Service and the Nation. Air Marshal Amao also used the opportunity of the ceremony to appreciate President Muhammadu Buhari for his unflinching support to the NAF. Earlier, the Chief of Training and Operations (CTOP), Air Vice Marshal (AVM) James Gwani, noted that the winging of the pilots further lends credence to one of the Key Drivers of the CAS, which is to “Pursue purposeful training and human capacity development’. He added that the new pilots would undoubtedly further enhance NAF’s capacity for effective, efficient, and timely employment of air power in response to Nigeria’s national security imperatives. While giving the highlights of the courses, the CTOP stated that the Basic Flying Course 24B, which commenced from 27 February 20 to 20 June 21, included 3 phases: Basic Rotary Wing Phase, Operational Rotary Wing Phase and Conversion Phase. The ceremony had in attendance Branch Chiefs of Headquarters NAF, Directors as well as relatives of the newly winged pilots.
