"No Bride Price Was Paid" - Social Media Feminist, Nkechi Bianze Gets Married (Photos)

Popular Facebook Feminist, Nkechi Bianze recently had her traditional wedding in her hometown to seal her union with her lover, IgbereTV reports.

As a proud feminist, Nkechi said her bride price wasn't paid and that she didn't kneel down to give her husband drink.

Sharing the photos of her marriage on Facebook, she wrote;

"Yesterday, the 17th of July 2021, all roads led to Owa (Agbor) Delta State as family and friends joined the Love of my Life and I as we got married.
*-*
He is from Mbaise, Imo State.
No bride price was paid.
And I did NOT kneel down to give him drink. We BOTH STOOD up to drink.
The Traditional Wedding was done according to the custom and traditions of my people, and we edited bits to suit us."

Pocohantas where are you ? .. Come here cos you attention is needed. ...... This one can't take it anymore cheesy .. Age is no longer on her side. To be a Feminist is just pure self-deceiving. But some of our block-head nigeria girls will not understand.

I honestly do not understand why you are barking. If there is anything she has done, she has walked the talk, but you are still not satisfied. You have somehow made it about her age, which shows your problem is just to cause ruckus at every given time.

First, I hope we (including her) all know the difference between the BRIDE PRICE and MARRIAGE LIST. Two different things.

To the topic, BRIDE PRICE and marriage list is not about her, it is about the Umunna. The last time I checked, the BRIDE PRICE is not given to the bride, but to her father. The content of the list is also not given to her, but to the Umunna, Umuada and youths.

Even the bible says, give what belongs to Caesar to Caesar. A core Igbo man would be very restless if he doesn’t pay bride price, because he knows what is waiting for him in the front. Who even gave her drink to give him when BRIDE PRICE hasn’t been paid?

I do hope she had a unanimous agreement with her people on this. She won’t be the first woman to marry without her BRIDE PRICE being paid. However, they all pay it at some point, maybe when she dies.

I have seen women being treated badly and they said it is because they shamefully followed a man who didn't pay their BRIDE PRICE. I have also seen the ones treated badly and they still say it is because he BOUGHT them. Bride price where I come from is N10 and it is SYMBOLIC, not an EXTORTION, not SELLING THE LADY. The presence or absence if it is also not a guarantee he would treat you fairly. That one is dependent on the man and his ideologies.

Thank you

Her talk about bride price not being paid is unbelievable. She admitted that the traditional rites were done, so which traditional marriage rite excludes bride price?

Her claim about no bride price is just to justify her feminist ideologies, she knows her followers will criticize her is she admits that bride price was paid on her head.

The man wey she marry come be Ibo man for that matter, if to say na white man she marry na, her lie for dey believable small.

I don't know about Agbo but in my part of Igbo land a man that didn't pay bride price shouldn't rejoice or go home and sleep.

I will never advise my man to do that.

Those children she will birth doesn't belong to the man .

In fact the woman isn't his wife.

The umunna will be watching with smirky facesgrin

I hope all these is to please her social media fans.

Never heard of her though.

There is no many disadvantages I know of as a proud feminist, NAIRALAND standard cheesy.

I also do not know her, so I do not know what views she promotes. I can only see a young lady trying too hard to show she is still a feminist. Which would even be the greatest undoing of her marriage.

She should go and enjoy her man. If he is a kind man, contrary to popular opinion that you would become a slave at home while misleading people, the truth is, you wouldn’t even need to be a feminist with him. Not because you have been subdued, but because he would treat you like a part of him.

Trash as usual!

Back to the post...her brideprice was not paid BECAUSE SHE IS PREGNANT which according to Igbo culture is an abomination.

You can "pay" for an overused invaluable product.

Like, she convinced all those patriarchal, uneducated village uncles to abandon tradition and not accept bride price?

If no bride price was paid then she is not married. She is just cohabiting with the man.

Ndigbo will not modify tradition because of some woman who looks like she swallowed a bag of dirty clothes.

Nice one. More feminists should follow suit and lead by example. It's a sad thing that these so called feminists have been cheating men for donkey years with no remorse. It's one thing to agitate for your rights it's another thing to practice what you preach. You can't eat your cake and have it. It's not possible. Feminism should be about justice and fairness and not the other way round.

After bride price is paid, the bride’s father would give her a drink to give her husband. This signifies the handover/marriage. Then they proceed to him for blessings.

If your postulation was the case, there won’t be a ceremony to start with, they will simply tell you to wait till she delivers.

Thanks

I'm an advocate of feminism.

I'm a feminist too.

Women shouldn't be subjugated in the name of marriage.

As a matter of fact, women shouldn't change their surnames, all in the name of marriage.

I wish her a blissful married life.
