Spoke my mind.
Perseverer:
We hardly get updates here these days.

People will rush to their keyboards to type PPR news, writing out their list of docs, acquisitions and ample accomplishments. Including strangers that have never posted on this thread before.

But scarcely will you see people post refusals to either seek assistance from the platform or illuminate others.

Honestly, Nairaland is awash with too many PPR news, and I am sure newbies can learn from past success stories.

Apart from updates on PPR (so that one may be able to identify the stage of processing) what I believe we need to see more of are refusals and how they were tackled.

I am certain that for every PPR, there are at least 2 refusals that correspond. But na only success stories we dey hear.

@lekiboboe thanks for all you do here.

Pls I am sending my passport tomorrow, how/where can I download the consent form?

Do you recommend for one to book his flight earlier, even before getting back his passport

Lastly, my program start 7th September, what date of travel could be considered too late?

Big Congratulations to you on the success of your Study Visa Application

I will advise you send to Abuja, it is faster, I sent mine last week and it has been stamped, I am waiting for DHL to deliver it. You can go ahead and book your flight now because the cost increases as the date approaches! Also, there is nothing like late arrival, just get to your school before the last day of acceptance.
I hope this helps.

Thank you. How do I submit via web form, because I guess I wouldn’t see my medical results after the medical at IOM.
IOM will give you an e-medical slip after the exams, then you will upload that slip via a webform.

Lekiboboe:

You welcome, I sight you Honorable

Well as regards STATEMENT OF RESULTS showing Courses, CGPA, GPA, am not sure of this, cos I haven't seen anyone use that to apply for admission to a College, but you can mail the Graduate Office , Enrollment office, international office of those colleges you want to apply to if your STATEMENT OF RESULTS can suffice for admission application owing to the nonavailability of the Student copy of your Transcript.

Another interesting thing about these colleges is this, though Transcript is an essential document for them to process an Applicant's admission, but do you know that some of the decision by the admission commitee is not always about the Transcript you submitted. Some applicants got their admissions cos they submitted some supoorting documents that' improved their Chances of admission, most especially when you have work experience, certifications, online courses etc. related to that program you are going for.

Reason why I always suggest that applicant's (HND or B.SC holders) who wants to go for a PG.Cert program in a college should add some supporting documents to their Admission Application in order to boost their Chances of getting the Admission.

WHY YOU NEED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS TO BOOST YOUR ADMISSION CHANCES FOR A PG.CERT APPLICATION

Supporting Documents
-Recommendation letter (from your boss at work, HR Manager, or lecturer, project supervisor, HOD)
-Letter of Confirmation of English Language proficiency (if available)
- Cover Letter (Very Important)
- Professional certificates
- Online Course Certification of Competition
-Résumé (Canadian Style) - Very Important

The Column for uploading Supporting Docs. is always on the ONTARIO COLLEGE APPLICATION INTERNATIONAL PORTAL PAGE

See this Scenerio,

Two third 3rd Class graduate (graduate from same school, doing same job and at same work place) applied to same course at a College in Canada (Ontario), apart from the Transcript and High school result both of them concluded on submitting, one was smarter, he told his second to do an online course etc., but he overlooked it, so the smart guy did 3-online courses and got the Certificate (merged them in 1-PDF file), he drafted a Cover Letter explaining why he would be a good fit for this PG.Cert program & also drafted a Canadian Style Resume which showcased & highlighted the Job experience that relates to the PG. Cert programs.

Boom, when they started issuing LOA (Letter of Acceptance), the second guy didn't get the admission, the one that submitted the mentioned supporting documents got the admission.

So it's safe to say that , SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS CAN BE ESSENTIAL FOR AN ADMISSION SUCCESS TO A COLLEGE IN CANADA

Canadian Résumé Style & Cover Letter for Admission into a College for a PG. Cert Program (Find attached)

https://www.nairaland.com/5818588/canadian-student-visa-thread-part/50#89629360

Adding supporting documents can never be overemphasized. Not just to college applications, universities as well..

I remember when I contacted Carleton uni for a program, stating my cgpa (and last 2 yrs cgpa) cos I didn't meet the 80% overall cgpa.

Although I was told that I didn't meet up to their req, I was also advised to add up supporting documents to aid given admission (cv, certificates, rec letter , etc)....i got the offer eventually (although it took months grin )

There's no such thing as submitting too many documents when it comes to applying for grad programs in Canadian schools...

No leave any stone unturned!!!

If your interest is to do a PhD in Canada, you should be able to start with 3 things by yourself (as someone who wants to do a rigorous research program)

-Search for schools where your program is offered
-Check requirements & determine eligibility
-Work on securing a supervisor

Your ability to start the 3 independently and by yourself will lay a good foundation for your success as a PhD student

It will prepare you for the rigor of doing independent research.

Securing a supervisor will also increase your chances of getting an admission and scholarship.

Do you think it's that easy to share bad news Hello, the human factor would play in here.

It takes confidence to share refusals. Besides, we have different people with different emotional strengths. To you, it might seem not a big deal but bro, I pray you don't experience any form of bad news...

Even if refused applicants might wanna share it, they need time to process the feeling first (I commend those that share theirs 24 hours after) please understand people are faster and eager to share that good news than bad ones.

If I may also add, no one owes nobody any updates on this platform. It's in anyone's interest to do so...

May we all smile las las

This is different.

I think the reason for this consent form is cos your passport is going from VFS to the Canadian High Commission office in Lagos (Victoria Island).

I didn't know it was different. Have already sent my passport.

I also got feedback from MP. It was swift and very useful.

I just hope that over time this won't lead to thousands of people sending requests to MP. I foresee a situation like that, and this may not be seen in a positive light.

Yeahhhhh true!!!!!

Hi guys, need some inputs.

I have a masters in engineering but want to do a post graduate diploma or post graduate cert related to computer science.

If I apply to a post grad cert that is one year in duration but 3 semesters long, how much post graduate work experience will I get? 12 months or 18 months.

Also, due to it's cheaper cost, I am seriously considering one Diploma but the entry requirement is just secondary sch cert while I already have a masters. Would I get the admission? Could I be given a visa for that?

Thanks.

First and foremost, I have shared bad news ooo. It was hard, but I did.

Secondly, I never said anyone owes anybody anything. I just expressed my view.

Lastly, life is about evolving as a person. People should also evolve over time. Edification is better than celebration anytime any day. (Edification is selfless... Celebration is just celebration).

(I should add that while people celebrate their states, conditions, or success, it is benefit unto them, but has absolutely no humanitarian value. Hence, celebrating in private or with a small group is far more logical. Or else, it ends up looking like show off.

Nairaland is a platform for edification. Like I said, I am just sharing my view. I did not say that people must behave in a certain way. I don't know anybody here personally, and I have no interest in knowing anybody here personally).

Well said. This is deep.

I agree with what you wrote. The thing is, it's not just how people celebrate on social media. If you notice, it happens everywhere in Nigeria. For example, Obi Cubana's celebration and similar kinds.

It's easy for people to overlook the plight of others and bask in their own success. They are simply carried away... But it shows lack of depth.

If I come here and announce to the world all my academic achievements, expensive acquisitions, and exotic travels, this obviously has no educational value... It's just a way to draw attention to myself. Besides, it disregards the fact that there are people struggling, and such news may worsen their emotional states.

So, I perfectly understand where you are coming from. But it's deep ooo.
