Let me tell you something. The days when nigeria dominated female football in Africa is gone for ever!

Ghana in particular is making some good investments in football and it is beginning to pay off. As I said, watch out for Hasaacas Ladies. They will be a transformed side next time you see them play.

Just one victory and we nor go hear word again. In both matches, Hasaccas didn't play that well. Rivers Angels had the better chances in both games but they lacked a keeper who could hold on to high balls and that was the source of all three goals.
In the first game, Hasaccas tried to play man to man by leaving the ball on the ground and they lost. In the final, their tactic was to play high balls and long range shots. Against a team with a good keeper, that tactic is actually useless.

What do you mean by “just one victory?” Na today Ghana dey flog naija in football? Shine eyes! Open your eyes to the fact that Ghanaian female teams are no more pushovers. Did you study the composure of the Ghanaian girls? They played with great confidence, great composure, knowing they were going to win. grin

Sit down there and be talking “just one victory” grin Fuckeduppedness

Petrodolla is an old friend of Nairaland. His main purpose for being here is to attack anything Nigerian and to proclaim that Ghana is better. His favourite word is "fuellish".

He has been away from Nairaland for a few years, but obviously he has come back to celebrate the victory of his Ghanaian team. grin

(P.s. his name came from the fact that crude oil was discovered in Ghana and he believes that Ghana will manage the petroleum resources better than the "fuellish" Nigerians).

You don’t get it, right? I told you nigeria used to dominate female football in Africa. I just told you that this victory by Hasaacas marks the beginning of a change in that paradigm. It was obvious from the way the Ghanians played your team, it was obvious they came into the game brimming with great confidence, great composure. That is what I am talking about. Do you know what it means to have a psychological boost, going into future games with an opponent you think you can beat?

Why do you think Ghanaian male teams often beat their Nigerian opponents? It’s mainly psychological grin A typical Ghanaian male team goes into every game with Nigeria with the belief they can beat them. And it works most of the time. And now the female Ghanaian teams are getting the confidence and psychological boost that they can play and beat Nigerian female teams. That changes everything. Watch this space. Future matches involving female teams from Ghana and Nigeria will be far more interesting than they had been in the past. You may not agree, but I can tell you for free that the era of Nigeria’s dominance in female football in Africa is gone for good! grin

Ghana’s female team was the first female team to beat Nigeria in Nigeria many years ago, at Warri. Go back and look at your records. It’s not as if Nigeria had been totally dominant over Ghana’s female teams in the past. Ghana had won Nigerian female teams in the past.

Bro, there are foreigners on Nairaland whose job is to search for mentions on their country so they can begin to fight and argue there. Some may not even watch football. Stop inviting them here by mentioning their countries fully. If you want to do so, manipulate the name, especially GH and SA.

Man, I feel gutted for Sweden cos they were the best women’s team at the tournament! Sweden were so so unlucky!

But I’ll rate them as top favorites for the WWC in 2023

Sweden weren't as unlucky as Canada was lucky. Canada scored only penalties right from quarter finals.

The only times the Ghanaian women's teams have defeated a Nigerian team is:
1. Women's WAFU Cup held in Ghana in 2019 - Ghana won 5-4 on penalties.
2. African Women's Champion's League Qualifiers, WAFU B finals in 2021- Hasaacas of Ghana won 3-1.
Two (2) wins in about 10 encounters!
But that's okay. Enjoy your victory.

Ghana should win one of those first or at least make it to the finals. Right now the closest teams are Cameroon and South Africa.

Well I don't totally agree that Canada doesn't have more talent than the aforementioned countries. At the 2011 world cup, Nigeria beat Canada in the group stages and yes at that time we could say Nigerian team were more talented, but now the Canadians are more talented and that's why they won gold, because talent more than anything else win trophies.

To become more talented, we must invest more in grassroot soccer, and continue searching for new talents everywhere.

It's talent that win trophies because at the end of the day, no matter the preparation or friendlies, you can't give what you don't have.

Let's just pretend that Canada did not do a football shithousery to gold medal, akin to the 2012 Chelsea UCL triumph by extreme luck and being very resolute in defending.

Call them to repeat that run and they would probably be eliminated at quarterfinals if not group stage.

Two truths can exist. Canada weren't spectacular, infact they aren't top 5 best teams of the tournament. Sweden, Netherlands, USA, Team GB, Australia, were the top 5 teams of the tournament , but sometimes you need more than good football to do well in cup competitions. You need luck too, and Canada had a lot of it.

Although mainly playing as a Winger on the left flank, George is capable of playing as a Left back, wing-back, or left midfielder due to her explosive pace, dribbling, creativity, and crossing ability. She is considered to be one of the quickest winger by the Frauen Bundesliga media.

Hopefully we would get to see her in the field soon..
But the question is will she be fit before the Aisha Buhari Cup

Breaking News

Nigerian soccer player Francisca Ordega "Franny" leaves Levante UD and is transferred to CSKA Moscow, after the agreement was made official.

Ordega was one of the attackers recently added to the squad. With the last blows of the Primera Iberdrola 2020/21 she joined the ranks of Levante. During that period of time, Franny only played three official matches as a Levantine, entering as a revulsive.

Now, just two weeks after playing the first preliminary phase of the Women's Champions League, the Levantine team is left without the 27-year-old African, in exchange for a sum of economic income that has not materialized.
