Foreign medical tourism by The President in the name of attending a VIRTUAL conference on Education should be it!! I should think his performance in office as President in the area of Education makes him eminently qualified for an on-site attendance of a virtual event thousands of kilometres away! |

Omoluabi1stborn:Peter Obi never said we should not build infastructures. I wish you could listen to the video from beginning to end. He said we should get funding alternatives instead of borrowing always. He said for the rails we can approach the stock market and make the rails a PPP arrangement. Please try and watch the video, even adesina didn't quite understand or debate the points |

Investing in SMEs would certainly grow the economy... Infrastructures are just catalysts that would make the SMEs thrive. Building infrastructures without investing in SMEs and industries is a waste of infrastructure.. that's a clear reason why they want to introduce toll gates |

presidency:Infrastructure is good, but what of the maintenance? Some part of Lagos said to be completed is potholed already. Security is key, only the living can use infrstructures, ask them in Iran and Afighanistan. |

mrvitalis:Nice attempt. For me economic development is just another complex or compound name for diversified production of what you consume. Notice I didn't end that with "...of what we spend". Our focus here is how to locate a resource and exhaust it as soon as possible out of indiscipline. We are suppose to be production oriented. With production even if you abolish money and good exchange, goods produced will always answer to need one way or the other. Because you have them and are willing keep having it by production. Your post addresses capital flight we are currently seeing. That is a pressing issue too. |

Nonsense man. Dumbo. If not infrastructure, then SECURITY. SECURITY is key. For if the people that you built infrastructures for are all dead, then who will be alive to use your infrastructure? Another thing is good standard of living so that the people the infrastructure is meant for will be able to afford it and utilise it as is meant to be. Otherwise, they will all leave your "infrastructure" for you and your vultures to use. |

The IBB administration built the 3rd Mainland Bridge but is IBB remembered for that infrastructure. The answer is No. IBB is remembered for the cancelation of June 12 election, for the economic hardship he brought on Nigeria through SAP and for the huge corruption during regime. Buhari will be remembered for insecurity(never experienced before in Nigeria), for economic hardship(also never experienced before), for poverty, for corruption(never experienced before), etc. So they should keep talking about the infrastructures that are mostly still under construction after 6 years in office. |
| Re: If Not Infrastructure, Then What - Femi Adesina by zoedew: 10:29am On Aug 13, 2021 |
nzeobi:I agree with Sir Peter Obi. That way, we all own the given public infrastructure and the tendency to vandalise and or not maintain them is greatly reduced. |

Zetra7:I like your contribution. Many May bash you but this worked for me. My personal experience : In 2008 my parents sent me to the west to study while some extended family members condemned the move likening it to an elitist thing of limited value. Six years later I moved to Lagos as a youth corp member and was hired by a small tech company that couldn’t even wait for me to complete the program. I built them a software that automated some bank card management functionalities . They sold this to some banks and I also got more exposure working jointly with tech teams in 5 banks . Most Corp members were reliant on 19,800 pay from the government but I was earning per project. The only difference between us was the little knowledge I had acquired . Same family members began to question how a youth corper could live in a such a furnished home and get established almost immediately. Two weeks after the nysc program the employer made me a full time offer which I turned down. Joined the tech department of one of the banks for one year and left thereafter to join a VC. At the VC I got to work with software teams on projects across portfolio companies they had investments in. Exposed me to tech in multiple sectors and for the first time gave me opportunity to travel to many African countries. I had only been around EU / east coast USA before then. The investment in my education opened doors for me. My uncles/aunts who felt education was all about having a certificate saw the difference between investing in education and investing in obtaining a certificate. Nigerians are self driven and many have made it despite the quality of education available here. If the government can better invest in education and SMEs many will be moved out of poverty |

Too many semi-literate persons marauding as intelligent kids on this platform. Without infrastructures, you can't have any sustainable development. Examples abound but hatred won't let you guys see them. Femi is 100% right. |

I am sure Obi understands that infrastructure promotes economic development more than you do. What Obi said that you need to be schooled on is that EDUCATION IS THE BEDROCK OF ANY DEVELOPMENT. How much has infrastructure in north promoted economy there. Even in Nigeria, upon all these achievements you mentioned here, the living condition of an average Nigerian is a hell. Ranging from rise in food prices, petroleum prices to anything you can think of. Are your infrastructure meant to bring favourable living condition to Nigerians or cause hardships for them? Of what use are the infrastructure you mentioned here when Nigerians are dying of hunger and their bloods are spilled in the alters of Boko Haram and your PRESIDENTS brothers disguising as herdsmen across the country to perpetrate all manners of crimes from rape, kidnapping and butchering of people in their localities under the supervision of the Presidency and MIYETTI ALLAH group. May God forgive you FEMI for you don't know what you are doing. |

mrvitalis:Just look at this? This is what an Igbo man and an average Nigeria wants. People know the truth but nonsense runs in their skull. You are allegedly awarding contract in billion USD to fix infrastructure via looting% gateway . And decide to null the economy, transaction/circulations and even block simple means of business increase VAT , Tax . Then increase security budget for ,EFFC etc for anyone that wants to cry out loud or use a means not contained in the zero economy master plan . I'm sorry but it would only go worse for all ,evil supporters inclusive |

Zetra7:You can borrow to buy a car for bolt driving, you can borrow to buy a house as long as it's not for personal use.. leverage. Hustle is a longer way of becoming successful, the rich borrow money to buy assets.. resources and time are limited, so the only way out is leverage.. |

Omoluabi1stborn:I don't mind if you agree with him but the fact is that this policy will continue to make Nigeria one of the worst country on earth .. No business man takes unrealistic loan, you should take time and find how much loan we have borrowed with interest then check the so called infrastructure and see how much that generates... I will be honest with you, SME's and education power every great economy.. |

neyoohhh:No successful business man borrow unrealistic loans ... Will advice you bro, if your bolt driving car can't pay the loan , never go for it cause it will end in tears.. Only borrow what you can pay, Nigerian's loan is off track... By the way, Peter Obi mentioned that if those infrastructures were worth it, they could have gone to our stock exchange and raise the cash. These are just bogus contracts for politicians to fed on, look at the North since 1976, infrastructures have been flowing there up till now, what then is their output.. Why is the nation poor then ![]() |
