Thanks dear❣️, if I'm not admitted, I might take sat next year, that's if I have the money tho

I think it's imperative to listen when people who have experience in a field gives one advice. The most logical thing is to study and write the SAT exams. I understand everyone comes from different financial background and whatnot but you can always crowdfund from friends, families, relatives, local faith-based centers, or maybe even from a good Samaritan here on NL so you can take the SAT exam. Call those uncles and aunties tell them you need to sit an exam and you would appreciate some help. Better still go and work part time if need be.

If the SAT exam fee is high, what happens when you get admission and need to pay visa fee and buy plane ticket. Will the school pay for this? What if the VO ask for SOA even if you are fully funded what will you show? Someone came on here the other day talking about how the visa is a burden to them since they can't pay tuition we have to be proactive.

An application with competitive SAT grades + decent high school result + well written SOP + strong LORs + CVs/extracurricular activities will get you admission (and even funding) to schools in US. A word is enough for the wise. Best.

must you put in married for phd applications or it depends on age of applicant

If you are truly married yes you indicate that you are married. If not you would be lying and untruthful in your application if you say you are. You won't be rejected from PhD admission/visa application if you are not married.

Finally I got my US F1 visa, the tuition fee is much and right now, I feel like the visa is a burden to me. Now I do understand that all problem are precarious, the solution to one brings us face to face with another.
To all who are yet to get their visa, good luck. Make sure say your financial means is well taken care of.

I second all the advice that have been given to you so far. You didn't specify your degree program though. Is it bachelors or MS degree?

There are different options to explore depending on your situation since it looks like you are already in the US.
1. You can apply to a community college and transfer your SEVIS to the new school. It is usually cheaper to take classes there.
2. You can set up a payment plan with your school and you can pay them at that interval. I do believe you will have to settle the Fall semester bill for instance before you are allowed to register for classes in Spring. During this time, apply to universities that their tuition is lower than your current school.
3. Your best bet is to reach out to your program's department and explain your financial situations to them. They might have some scholarship to offer. If it's a masters degree reach out to multiple professors that you are willing to work for them or be a TA for them. If there are any Nigerian or African professors in your dept/school, please open up to them and don't be shy. They might be of help one way or another since some of them understand the struggle international student usually face when they arrive.
4. Another option is loan. Find a US citizen/perm resident cosigner that can stand for you to get a loan. Luckily there is also M-Power financing, Prodigy finance, amongst others that provide loans to intl students without the requirement of a US citizen cosigner.
5. Search online and apply to different scholarships.
Here is the link to one scholarship, my cousin got a while back but she is in the UK. I believe they support students in US too:
Black Heart Scholarship Programme --- https://blackheartfoundation.org/scholarship-programme/#PROGRAMME

Whichever you choose to do, God is always on your side. God brought you this far and won't desert you. Don't lose hope and please work hard.

What are your study plans?
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by Enick: 7:07am On Aug 14, 2021
A friend of mine wants to find out his chance of getting a study visa.

He was denied a visiting visa in 2017.

Reapplied again for visiting visa last year(Jan 2020) but the appointment was canceled due to covid and has never tried to secure an appointment again.

And he currently has a petition. His elder brother in the US submits an i-130 alien petition for him early this January 2021.

He intends to go for a master's program in any STEM course although he completed his Bachelor of Science program in Nigeria 10years ago.

You need SAT for undergraduate application. Register for SAT exam in OCT. Submit your application by deadline. If you decide to better what you already have in WAEC, It means you will likely wait till next 2 years to apply because waec exam will likely take place next year August. The result won't be ready by application deadline. Getting a good score in SAT should compensate for low waec result.

Hi guys☺️
I'm new to this forum and this is actually my first time commenting here, I have a question concerning berea college application, I am planning on applying this year, I have a waec GPA of 3.47 with an A, 4Bs, and 4Cs, and plan on taking the TOEFL test on or before October (deadline is November 30), so my question is, can I be accepted with a GPA of 3.47 (with the lowest GPA of accepted students at Berea college being 3.0, with a 3.54 average), or I should wait till next year and retake waec or take sat.

Thanks for replying in advance :-)

You misunderstood me, the school does not require sat, the only reason I wanted to take the sat exam was to maximize my chances of admission, not for funding, I'm trying to minimize my expenses to lessen the burden a little for my mom( she already agreed to pay for my toefl, don't want to stress her with sat), my dad has the money but just won't support unless he sees I have been granted admission or visa ( which they probably won't give me without sat), so my plan is to get admitted first then inform him about it so he can pay the necessary visa application fees and my flight ticket, I'm just confused, I will think about it tho, thanks

lol do you really think it’s toefl that grants you the better scholarships
If you don’t know, you should know now you are better off with SAT than toefl
mostly schools waive Toefl because Nigerian is an English speaking country
And I’m sure you would want funding

By the way your waec is good and can get you admission to alot of universities but if you need a low deficit SAT is your option
Best regards

Berea college is fully funded, both tuition and living costs, so I don't NEED sat. But I will consider taking it for admission purposes, thanks dear
