All these noise makers about Lioness Mercy, Christmas Ronald, Ronaldeyino, etc... I've watched Alla Dem play. None dazzles like my J.J. OKOCHA. I so mastered very few of his skills, that till today I sometimes have teenage footballers ask me how I could do that.
But for "high level racism", they never gave him Balloon, talk less of Balon D'or. Someone whom Ronaldinho attributed his skills to perfectly mastering J.J. Skills when he won the world best award. I repeat, I will only respect all these nr b lie"proud show offs" called world best footballers if they go to little clubs and drag them out of obscurity to limelight. E.g Lioness Mercy.

"He's so good. They named him twice" but wasn't declared. As good as Mercy (or Grace) is, he dare not try to dribble the whole pitch, see an open net and return to dribble everyone again before scoring. His legs will be up in flames at the closest orthopedic hospital. Respect Sir J.J. A fan forever.

I remember his first goal for the super eagles...

It was a free kick against I guess Algeria or another team...

The goal was superb and proved how gifted and skillful he is.

Sadly, FIFA never gave him the FULL recognition he deserves.

How would you know about Jay Jay?

Since you have a low term memory or you were below 20yrs you should have just watched the video which was just a few of his performance on international platforms put together but no, you are low on data.

Now tell me how someone that can't afford internet data to watch YouTube video of 11mins make a good critic.

Matches are won by goals, not by dribbles.
Scorers of goals are more valuable than dribblers.

Happy Birthday Jay-Kay Okocha.
I wish many happier returns for the day with all the thanksgivings to Almighty God.
Cheers!

Clearly i n 2003 and 2004 he should have won African footballer of the year

But Issa Hayatou gave it to Samuel Etoo

Even in 2008 world cup

It was given to musterpher Haji of Morocco who was himself surprise to have it ahead of okocha

Today nobody even know Haji

Lol, so many delusional people on here. Please, if it was because of "high level racism" that Okocha didn't win the world footballer of the year award, did he also not win the African footballer of the year award because of "high level racism"? And wasn't there "high level racism" when George Weah won the World best player award in 1995? Do you Okocha cultists think at all before commenting? This is getting annoying at this point.

We women just don't know what we are missing by not following football. So sad

It's all about devotion, just devote your time to it and you'll be a lover of football.

May years ago, growing up in Benin city back then, my elder and younger brother would go to a viewing center to watch a football game while I stay at home...and these guys discussed and call all premiership players by name like they know them in person...1993 my father kindred ask me to name just two players in England of which I couldn't I was so so ashame of myself and I said from today I mst follow-up football...long story short madam...

In two seasons I started calling these players by name also and till today I'm a lover of football.

So, with determine and devotion nothing we can't achieve.

Every thing seems impossible untill it is done- Nelson Mandela of blessed memory.

I wonder how they manage to survive and be happy! Football is full of fun! Even some men too, sometimes I wonder what gives them joy and wish they could realise what they are missing. Football is awesome and part of life. Football gives joy

Baba forget that one…
you may compare Okocha with Zidane….but definitely not Messi or CR7. The latter are in a class of their own

As much as I think Okocha's fanboys are an annoying and delusional bunch who think he would have won the Universe footballer of the year if it wasn't for racism, FIFA calling him "Africa's equivalent to Ronaldinho" is utterly disrespectful. Yes, Ronaldinho went on to be greater than Okocha in football, but Okocha was already famous for his flicks and skills long before Ronaldinho bursted onto the world stage at the 1999 U-20 World Cup in Nigeria.

Goal scoring machines.

But that poetry in motion is what Ronaldo lacks.
That slickiness of football that would nearly make you cry.

Messi has it, the footballers of old like okocha had it.

Cristiano Ronaldo doesn't.

Ordinary Jersey for surulete stadium in those days,e no gree share... when the likes of kanu would load vans with kits and share for free to fans. O stingy pa. If dem give am national award, I go protest

You can't watch a maradona and a Cristiano Ronaldo and not see the difference.

Ronaldo scored far more and won far more awards and trophies, but maradona was poetry.

That poetry in motion is what okocha excelled in that enchanted the world.
