Takehiro is a good RB. Infact he is going to understand Pepe than even Pepe can imagine. He's a dribbling RB again, the Brazilian kind. And he doesn't really need go deep the CK angle to give a precise cross that any 9 would easily nod in. Meaning he'd need Auba more than Laca.

And guess what, he scores well with his left foot. Taking on as much as two defenders. Which means if the trainers get sense, Pepe would be freer than he currently is and that can return some slick box18 passes defenders wont suspect. He slides much more better than Xhaka with more ball recoveries from that CentreBack position too.

When attacking, he's a big threat. When defending he's a top last man when playing CB. Its no hype. Its just what he is. He has the intensity to match EPL speed and toughness. Bad atmosphere is definitely making his arrival seem like some odd buy.

If Arteta's love for Chambers persist, I'm afraid Takehiro is going to be more as a CB pairing with Gabriel/White. But IMO, his attacking threat down the Pepe line is going to be a blessing that any coach would love since the Cazorla days!!

I understand Arsenal / Arteta and AMN resolved their issues...

But what happened to Nketiah?

At the end of the day no one bought him! or did he refuse to go or did Arsenal refuse to sell him?

So Arsenal want to let him and Laca run down their contract abi?

Any confirmed updated news on him?

Not only this season bro, we are in for many long seasons if something drastic doesn't happen.... Going by the statement of our board CEO, there is no ambition to be back in Europe in the immediate...

The Arsenal chief executive Vinai Venkatesham has decided to contact all the Arsenal staff and players at the end of the transfer window, to assure them that, despite the awful start to the season, the long-term plan is progressing as it should.

V.V acknowledges that we have dropped far below our standards, and those of our rivals at the top of the table, but there is a strategy in place, which he has explained is to concentrate on “Europe’s most exciting young talent” that can “grow and develop together under Mikel”.

Vinai’s message was acquired by HITC, who have reported our CEO as saying: “Our approach for this window was framed by fully recognizing that we are not where we want to be on the pitch — finishing eighth last season, with no European football for the first time in many years,”

“This is well below the standards each of us all have, and of course that our fans rightly demand of us, which is to be competing for the biggest trophies in the game.

“Whilst we would love to jump from where we are to where we want to be in an instant, we need to be realistic that the gap is too large to do that. As such, our activity this window has been focused on youth.

“Our strategy is to fill our squad with some of Europe’s most exciting young talent, with players from both our academy and further afield, that can grow and develop together under Mikel to take us where we want to get to.

“Whilst this will not be overnight, we can make positive progress, and it gives us the best route to future success in a sustainable way.
What's wrong with this? It's the reality.

Personally, I think this summer transfer was a disaster. I mean, we addressed some back up issues but those are not immediate needs that can elevate this team. Outside of not addressing the immediate needs of this team, my disappointment is that the bulk of the players loaned out will return next season after their loan spells. That means we will do this over again like we have been doing over the last 2 seasons. Our leadership and coaching have shown they are slow and poor at making decisions. We will resume next season with another bloated squad which we will not address until when the season starts. Worsestill, we will be begging to terminate contracts of many of these players which is an evidence of bad decision. If you terminate one, that's fine but if terminating contracts become the norm then it raises a lot of questions on how and why those contracts were initiated in the first place.

Outside of bad coaching, our failure to figure out our squad situation early enough has been a big part of the problem. We have started 2 consecutive season with too many uncertainties and a lack of clarity about the squad. Without European competition, one would think we should be able to avoid the mistake of the previous season but no! We are doing the same thing all over again. By the time the squad situation is resolved we are already double digits outside of where we need to be to make a challenge for important positions.

Correcting the mistakes of the past won't take place overnight or in one transfer window. While I do not think we have the squad yet to compete, I feel given the right coaching, the players we have can develop into something good enough to be a foundation for the glory we seek. I am not overexpectant as there's no basis to be. But I feel we are on the right path. One or two more seasons is enough to take us to top under the right conditions.

Nketiah is injured which compounded everything. Hopefully we sell by Jan if he does not extend.

It's ok for me if Lacazette runs down his contract. He can return to France after that.

Wetin I do.
Even when we weren’t 9 points away from the top and sitting 20th while at it, after 3 games, we didn’t overtake the league leaders.

Unless you are on some kind of substance you can’t possibly type that with a straight face.

The stats for TT looks promising. Apparently, he beat Emerson Royal in every stat bar one. Secondly, I feel he was bought to improve the height of the back four as against signing small Rbs like Aarons or Tariq Lamptey who were equally considered being in the age profile and competence. If you factor in Ben white's ariel weakness, it all makes sense getting TT. He stood out anytime I watched Bologna last season, being Asian, he was not hard to spot on the pitch. I always asked who the Chinese guy was that played like a daemon possessed man. Welcome to the red and white.

C'mon what he wrote is right na, and we are 7 points from getting to top 4.

He has not said we will definitely overtake, it's a just a nice way of looking at the task ahead... even if it looks difficult or impossible with Arteta.

It's vague and it is what we call "just words" in my cycle.

It has no definite target/specifics vs time.

For example if we end 7th or 8th or lower this season, it would remain progress to him cos his claim is that we are building for "future success"

I would have loved that he gives us his realistic target for this season and beyond... like maybe top 6 this season, and in a year or 2, we progress to top 4... that is more assuring.

Reason I agreed that we are on long season which might not end with this season except something drastic happens.

Hey, nice write up!

So I am an ardent/ religious follower of AC Milan and I have watched TT a couple of times over the last 2 seasons when he played against my Milan side. Yes, he is a better defender (especially 1v1) than any of our current RB. I also love the fact that he is decent with his left foot and can make good passes especially long passes. However, he doesn't necessarily promise much offensively and he does not have pace but he makes up for his lack of pace with good positioning. Also, it would be interesting to see how he manages the speed of the wingers in the EPL, which takes me to his his lack of pace. He has good awareness and the timing of his tackles are good.

TT has not played in a back 3 formation before. He has always lined up in a back 4 and has always been used as a traditional RB or CB when possible. So it will be interesting to see how he adjusts if Arteta returns to a back 3. His success will depend on how quick he adapts to the speed of the league and the formation used. He is physical enough to cope with the physicality but its the speed of things that worries me. On another day, we should be happy with this signing but things have gotten really bad for Arsenal.

FYI, he is Japanese, not Chinese.

Nah he's actually an upgraded version of Chambers. He's not that quick and not the overlapping type. He'll mostly tuck in the middle while Ben White pushes up.
He's great on the ball and ambidextrous.

Where did you guys read that hes not fast? I keep seeing it on this thread. The few times I have seen him play, he ran like a daemon. Reminds me of LLorente of ATM and Son at TOT. He was heavily pursued by Milan and Atalanta. But he had his eyes on England. Slow players dont survive in Atalanta and the new exciting team at Milan.
His coach in Japan talks about his pace here:
https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2021/09/01/arsenals-new-signing-takehiro-tomiyasu-has-been-branded-horribly-fast/

He can cope in a back 3. His coach at Bologna Siniša Mihajlović, is a brainiac. He is one of those ITK coaches who think they are the smartest in the room. He plays people out of position, wierd and unsual formation in tough games, trying to out think the opposition but the good thing is that TT applied himself well, playing left back, left centre back, right back and right centre back. Hence, you have an all rounded player. His ball carrying ability is also great. The guy can travel with the ball.

I just hope the guys at Arsenal manage him well. He will be useful to the team medium and long term.
