People often make reference to multi billion naira VAT from alcoholic drinks as though it is the the only product that attracts VAT. The items that attract VAT is uncountable.
All the soft drinks, juice just name, all the goods inside supermarkets and shopping malls u see all attract VAT. When you recharge your phone, u pay VAT. What about when you pay ur TV subscription, electricity recharge or bills, all banking transactions etc. The goods and services that attract VAT is inexhaustible.
That is why I keep wondering why the North feels that it is cheated whenever issue of VAT is mentioned. Actually VAT is paid on consumption of goods and services within a state as a source of revenue for the State to use to provide services like road, electricity etc for you the consumer. But due to our feeding bottle federalism where States converge at Abuja every month to share money from oil, States have forgotten that their secret goldmine is VAT and they have to do everything possible to collect it. Now Wike has woken a sleeping nation. I commend him. This is the quality of brain Nigeria needs to grow honestly.

Not a fan of wiki, but I would have to agree with him on this....These our lazy northern political elites need to wake up & generate revenue, if they can't, they should step down for technocrats from their region who can do so..... Afterall them very plenty

There is no pain to feel, He who does not work deserve not to eat.
They want VAT yet they destroy the goods of some companies (breweries) that pay VAT.
That is reaping from where they don't sow.
They want VAT yet there herders kill and destroy properties of those who pay VAT, that is devilish and demonic. Masari can do better by crying more, na im wàhálà be that

TRUE TALK !

You hit the nail on the head !

No time for feeling pain just walk the development and see the result.

They will destroy alcohol in public while they consume it codedly.

I wonder why these people pretend alot!

Here in Abuja, some of them buy beer and pour it into their kettle which they use for ablution.

Their women are into prostitution full time.

No be the same Kastina state where two of them hijab wearing call girls wan finish me over night.

That was how I knew that codeine they drink can make a woman knack like a demented stallion.

Go to Lagos street in Garki Abuja around 9pm and you will see them wearing hijab with completely nothing underneath.

How do you explain these scenarios:

Beer is an Haram in the North, Hisbah will destroy any beer destroyable but VAT generated from the consumption of beer in the south is not an Haram to them. They even take a large chunk of it.

Lagos and Rivers contributed at least 75% VAT to the federation account in 2020 but got less than 45% from FAAC.

I am enjoying the steps taken by Lagos and Rivers. Let restructuring start from there.

Good one coming from the wicked one alias Wike the wicked!

When they were destroying bottles of beer, little did they know that he (Governor Wike) was timing them.

If you hate beer don't collect VAT gotten from it.

Masari and co didn't see this coming!

They've been told to look inwards because there's no more free meal in Freetown.

They can start by asking their businessmen Fulani bandits to start paying tax on ransoms gotten from kidnapping.

Ntoor!

Oh, laziness made them"feeding bottle governors"", ok, monthly allocation to states. It's better for states to collect VAT. If they don't like it, they should start mining Gold and other mineral resources which is been mine illegally.

But you'll use my VAT and CT to provide free health care of Aliyu.

If Ipob was the one fighting against VAT them for dae do VAT seat at home thinking it would affect the government.

And you think the sit at home order by the ipob does not give the govt headache... You must be mistaken, if not why this uproar about ipob sit at home both in TV, internet and newspaper... Buhari was even discussing it with Ebonyi state governor

Looool. Where are u getting this bogus figures from? Even Lagos is not the biggest contributor to the VAT net but FG. Check your facts before you speak, please.

See, some of u southern lots are babies without functional brains. Probably, your lives are not going on well and one imaginary “North” should and can be the only logical explanation for the fiasco ur lives have turned into.

But we are not the cause of your problems, but yourself!
