Years back yahoo wasn’t something people wanted to be associated with, in first person or third person sef. Now it has been normalized and in the long list of the justification for yahoo, there is this one that stands out- YAHOO BOYS HELP THE ECONOMY AND SMALL TO MEDIUM SCALE BUSINESS. This is supposed to make us appreciate them right? Interesting.

Do yahoo boys actually help businesses? In a way they do. In fact, they do.

BUT…

It is a Greek gift!

Case study: A hangout spot a colleague introduced us to.

This spot is somewhere on the Island (I won’t be mentioning its name). In the evenings you would see workers, businessmen, lovers and people who generally loved some quiet there. Cool retro music serenading the air. Let’s just relass and forget the troubles in Nigeria.

All of a sudden, the music went from Lionel Richie’s All Night Long to Sho ni CC, Load am cash app, Cashout, O ni maga bill am. People tried to caution the DJ, but he has obviously been bought over by these yahoo boys who were at different tables with their balenciaga-wearing girlfriends. The customer service nosedived and it became normal to hear customers shouting that they were ignored by waiters/waitresses to attend to these boys, even when they placed their orders first. We (my colleagues and I) got tired of the new model and decided to stay off. We know how much we earn and we were not ready to drag space or compete with dorime boys.

As with everything, they got tired of that lounge. They always get tired of things, be it animate or inanimate. They moved to another lounge and because of them, lots of customers have run away, never to come back.

The last time I visited that place, it wasn’t like its usual self. I don’t know what the owner would do to get back on his feet and I hope the money he made from them would last long enough.

Except your niche is designed to cater for them, seeing that they would be around for a while, lol. I think a business owner shouldn’t get overly excited by their patronage.

Very true!

Not only for businesses.. But also for other individuals!

House rent is now on the rise cos of these guys(they can pay millions for accommodation) and the greedy landlords expect all other tenants to pay up too(not minding the fact that people don't have the financial muscle to compete with G boys).

Nigeria is not even the poorest country in the world, so I wonder why the presence of yahoo boys would be the reason MANY can feed. Do yahoo boys run NGOs or what?

As usual, blame everyone but themselves. It started right from the garden of Eden when God asked Adam why he was hiding.

You mean a man, the SUPERIOR and LOGICAL gender. The gender that God created in his own image. Decided to go into CRIME, risking his life, freedom and reputation, because women (not forgetting their fish brains) are entitled?

Yahoo has come to stay until Nigeria treats it's youth right.

More nonsense. smiley

Lol, when we speak up, why are you hating? is it your family they are stealing from?, so I'd rather not say anything in public but tbh they've ruined almost everything social and lifestyle related. Recently had this issue with a certain neighbor when I bought a new car, typical Lagos apartment, small parking space and constant parallel parking, came in late on Friday night and against my better judgment, decided to park outside...long story short, one of them almost took my whole side mirror off and instead of an apology he offered to buy me and my whole family new cars grin. The discrimination is evident with the feminine gender, had one ask me recently how can you be using a iPhone X in 2021,better be doing what your mates are doing.
There's very little appreciation for honest hard work anymore, after all anybody with a laptop and internet can be a millionaire right?

Nigerian girls only hate yahoo boys online, in real life yahoo boys treat them like slaves and the girls still beg to be with them. You may even be typing this your nonsense epistle while your yahoo boyfriend is fucking you silly.

It must be those balenciaga and fur-slippers-wearing-girls. Hold iPhone 11 for hand, but they can’t navigate that phone beyond camera and Instagram.

Lol. Their hubris is something else. They have no regard for anyone. Everything is about money to them. Very loud set.

You are trying so hard to be offensive and I have told you not to mistake me for your sister. I don’t have yahoo boys in my circle. Except he disguises, I can’t think of what we would be doing or discussing together.

Water and oil doesn’t mix…

If it is about the money, which I LOVE, yahoo boys do not even rival some legit hardworking men. What exactly do yahoo boys buy for their green-wig-wearing-gfs? iPhone, organic cream and small handbags. Is that what you want to use and razzle a 43yrs old woman like me in 2021? Guy, behave well abeg.

Depends on your definition of a decent living, a sub luxury car at 23, a 4m PA apartment on freedom way, breakfast and weekend getaways at oriental hotel or illaje beach?, out with it already, ya'll want to work a little and earn the most, funny how you set yourselves up for failure just from the way you think, enjoy it while it lasts undecided
Speaks volumes about a man who holds everybody but himself responsible for his poor life choices.

Unfortunately, that's the kind i've been attracting these days, might have to do with my light skinned, curvaceous girl fetish grin, no jokes about the phone thingy, this particular on didn't know what Airdrop was, to her apparently you can only send pictures from an iPhone through instant messaging.

Well poco I kind of agree there are some set of Boys that can be very loud in there movement but they are also some that are low key some end up being a business major customer bring in the most even tagging along with friends who contribute their own share to the business. most times the loud ones move in entourages.

there's a pro and there's a con

angry Everything don cost because of them. For Benin, you nor fit see jeans of 5-8k anymore.
Boutiques are now selling jeans/hoodies from 15k and above. It's so irking!!!!!!!!
Now all the shop sellers increased their prices and an average person can't patronise them again.

Their arrogance is out of this world. Gosh!

Yahoo boys are not really the cause of the soaring price of most commodities. Its inflation coupled with a very weak naira.

Most people also forget that there are silent yahoo boys also. The typical ones you see are noise makers. Most of them are empty vessels, they make the loudest noise.

There are some business like yahoo boys. Little or no noise, so coperate like the Italian mafia and if they even toast you pocahontas, you no go know say na dem.
