I was 18 and in 200level in a federal uni with him and my mum my only support system when all of this started,couldn't concentrate and focus on school work anymore as I am the firstborn of a 7 boys family and my attention was always needed.....Mum told me I need to drop out that she can't afford all of this alone but I was strong hearted and determined to graduate with a B.Eng...

I had issues with my lecturers as my attendance were poor and my course adviser said it to my face that I would never graduate but I never told them about my travails or they wouldn't even believe me anyways cos they were mostly SADIST,All Engineering lecturers in Uniben especially Mechanical/PRODUCTION ENGINEERING from 08/09 upward,OGUN KILL ALL OF UNA!!! Life was tough for me and my Mum....

Now that I am a Man and supposed to be focus on my life future and raising a family but this is still taking a toll on me emotionally,financially,mentally and I will come home to my mum nagging,crying that she has tried enough over the years and i might come home one day and she has left ....THIS BREAKS ME,I AM TIRED,I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO....I LOVE MY DAD,HE IS IN PAINS TOO!!!

IF I COULD SEE THE FUTURE BACK THEN WHEN IT STARTED,I WOULD HAVE ASKED THE DOCTORS FOR MERCY DEATH,DO NIGERIAN DOCTORS OR HOSPITALS GIVE OUT MERCY DEATH TO PATIENTS?

that's not a good thing to think about, mercy death is not our culture, for God sake he is your "FATHER". IF YOUR MOTHER IS TIRED, she can go and live the life she wants to live. You as a first born, i know you have tried, both financially and mentally, Man up and find someone you can pay to take care of him.. jean pierre Adam's a black man was in coma 37years and was taken care of by his white wife. Many people giving advise that they can never be in the op shoes for two months talk more of 12 years. Op na man you be same as your mum. Big ups to you two. There are life challenges that I think euthanizing seems best. I believe if your dad can talk he would have wished same. What’s is the point of being alive with suffering .God give you strength in all you decide.

- Call a family meeting and table your findings as the advice your doctor friend gave you concerning your father.

- Every member should share their views and come to an agreement.

One of two things will happen;

- Your family will experience an epiphany, reminisce on all the good times and all he means to you all, and together with renewed vigour commit to the process, whatever the outcome.

- Out of sheer exhaustion from the last twelve years of toil agree to end it graciously, so all parties can rest.

I advise you do not try it. Your father will die when his time comes. Your case is similar to mine. Before I got admission in university, my Dad was diagnosed of diabetes. One of his legs was amputated initially. My Mother, may God bless her more, struggled to cater for my siblings and I. I was advised by some people to quit school then coz I had started my year one. I didn't. I persevered. I was able to overcome difficulties with paying school fees through the help of some people. My Dad was bedridden for a decade plus. On the fateful day that he died, his remaining leg was amputated coz diabetes had affected it badly. My Father's goods in his shops were completely sold out in order to settle the hospital bills. Nothing was left out. My candid advice is, let your father die naturally. Do not do something which you will always feel guilty for. Keep encouraging your mum. Tell her not to give up on your father coz the man will die joyfully and peacefully knowing full well that he was well taken care of by his wife and children.

Don't do that, it amounts to murder. Get a nurse to help in nursing him. That will relieve you guys from the attendant stress and psychological trauma.

Stroke can be treated in tradition way. Be cooking peer leave for him so he could be drinking the water instead of ordinary water. He should not been eating starchy food. If you people can afford it plantain should be his Major food. You people should not make him sad cos it do affect their healing process. Above all be prayerful nd consult people. There is cure for it

Hospitals barely treat stroke patient properly,you guys were supposed to have taken him to local stroke specialist that deals with herbs when it started at the first stage.

Bro let me be candid with you , Eutanizing him is like doing him a favor its not a bad thing, he’s been in pain for 12 years you need to relief him , it’s affecting your life and people around him, I’m sure he won’t be happy with the way he bothers your life too... forget the Nigerian mentality of not killing , but people die in war everday does it make it acceptable by God. My advice is before you carry out the Euthanasia make sure his own family members agrees to it I mean his siblings and co and you and your siblings should also agree....Euthanasia isn’t a bad thing, you wouldn’t do it if you meant evil !

This is d problem with Africa parents , perhaps your father parents imposed alot of responsibilities on him thereby leading to the stroke he suffers today . If I may ask where is your fathers family(mother n siblings)?Is his wife n children that are carrying all d wahala now Abi. Later all these small small boys will cm here n say my immediate family over my wife.My advice for U is to Tk life as U C it do not put too much pressure on yourself to avoid being in the same situation as Ur dad thereby creating problem for Ur future wife n kids.

Oga, I have experienced same alright, you Know the sickness of your dad,my dad had different sickness all in one body, my dad own was worst than stoke, hospital to hospital, in this Nigeria and outside Nigeria, I wish I have my dad, alive in that sickness that killed him badly than dead alrighty.

You even see shit pack, my dad own we had to beg shit to come out, if it doesn't we will put gloves in our hands and use olive oil to massage his anus to beg shit to come out, my dad was decaying while alive, he by himself said he was tired and wanted to go, we bagged he said no he wants to go and he slept of and never woke up, we had to bring him back into the country for burial.

Abeg we all know what we have faced in this life. So leave the man let him live his life, it's a blessing to take care of your sick parents, nobody knows tomorrow, who's turn it will be.
