sam4774:
why do you have two applications? and also did you do the exemption form that makes them review your TRV in 30 days?

Did the first application in June. Choose Covid-19 as purpose of visit to ensure they prioritize the application. Did the travel exemption webform in July. They denied the exemption.
Did another one after I completed my vaccine doses and got a response after 3 weeks advising that I should re-apply on the new portal.

When you apply on the new portal, the previous one will be withdrawn according to IRCC but it is yet to be withdrawn and eligibility is yet to start on the new application.

Used the new portal for the second application.
Between the 14 to 30 business days you will receive a positive news. I wonder what happens to your SOWP application that is on going. Though that's dual intent.

Am just seeing this!
Congratulations
Congratulations!!!
Thank God it ended in praises....we will meet soonest!

Akannitommy:
FINAL PPR ALERT, it has ended in massive praises! Alhamdulilah!!

We received PPR for the remaining members of my family earlier today and also got a travel restriction exemption authorization approval for my 2 year old son. After we waited for two weeks after the first set of PPR for my daughters, we decided to send their passports on Monday to Abuja. We did to avoid the pitfall of missing 30-days deadline for submitting passports. The passports were delivered on Wednesday due to Tuesday holiday. Counterfoil for the girls were updated on the portal Friday and DHL picked up stamped passport same day - tracking shows it is en-route to Lagos. We woke up to receive PPR for my wife and son this morning, as well as a travel authorization for ONLY our son - since he applied for visitor and we also applied for the travel restriction exemption twice. The letter of introduction for the girls dropped too.

We are juggling many things right now and the logistics are crazy. I pray that everyone waiting for their PPR gets it soonest. I understand what you all are going through because I was in the same boat for over 5 months and I not unaware that several more have been waiting longer. Hang in there, be hopeful. Your time will come very soon. It has finally ended in praises. Many thanks to everyone who rendered assistance in one way or another on this platform in this journey. You are all too many to list but you know thy selves and the Almighty God know you even more. Your rewards will be in multi-folds and bountiful. Also, I am grateful for the emotional support everyone provided all through the process.

Again, it has ended in praises!! Alhamdulilah!!

See updated timeline below:

15th May - Application submission with upfront medicals for 3 out of 4 (All 3 had April 2021 passport expiry dates)
19th May - Medicals for Spouse and two kids (student permits) updated to passed
25th May - Wife completed bio-metric while kids didn't due to minor ages
3 months - Nothing; not even ghost update. Focused on passport renewal process and NIN reconciliation wahala.
18th August - Sent Nairobi inquiry email and got normal auto-response immediately
19th August - Nairobi replied my inquiry saying the usual stuff - under active review & unable to say when to finalize
19th August - Applied for GCMS notes for all
26th August - Applied for written travel authorization exemption (WTRE) for all
4th September - Emailed MP office covering my residential area
5th September - Emailed MP office covering my school area
8th September - Senior Advisor (staff) to MP covering my house replied - " I should reach out in 2 weeks if I haven’t received anything......."
9th September - Eligibility review commenced -- no ghost update - just random login and saw it
10th September - Received medical request for 2 year old son (who didn't do upfront medical since it was visitor visa for him).
10th September - 3 emails responses per travel authorization application - one shows son's WTRE is authorized & others tagged "courtesy"
17th September - Completed son's medical exam and uploaded result via webform and emails to Nairobi - no reply.
26th September - Son's medical updated to passed
6th October - Received PPR for daughters' study permit applications.
18th October - Sent daughters' passports to Abuja using DHL return service

18th October - Same day after I had sent 2 passports, the MP's office replied my umpteenth inquiry saying that "regarding the progress of requests, they are all linked and processed together. Verification of eligibility and medical results was accepted. The next step concerns the final decision which must be rendered (we do not have the date). Regarding your second question, I spoke with an IRCC agent who told me that you could send the 4 passports together by putting an explanatory letter explaining that it is easier financially and logistically to do like this and there shouldn't be any problem, but don't hang around in sending passports."

18th October - I replied MP's office that I had sent 2 passports and that I wouldn't want to risk sending all four because am not sure someone won't mix things up just because there was not PPR for 2 of the passports. In my experience, most people who work in customer service etc behave like robots lacking latitude to apply discretion in sensitive or unfamiliar situation. I didn't want anyone to use me as experiment.

22nd October - Daughters' profile showed counterfoil have been issued - visa stamped - expiry date is 4 months earlier than my own expiry date. No problem because that is valid for 2 years essentially.

23rd October - PPR for my wife and son dropped along with travel restriction exemption approval for my son & the girl's letter of intro.

The grace and joy shall go round by the special grace of God Almighty.

Hello Henrie, please see my thoughts to your questions below:

Hi everyone. Please I will appreciate it if anyone can answer my questions thank you.

I got my study visa 1st week of October, please how long should it take for my spouse to apply for a sowp?

Congratulations on the approval of your study visa ,the duration it takes for your spouse to apply is solely your decision, some apply immediately the spouse gets approved with study visa in Nigeria or their respective home country before travelling to the promise land(Canada) ,some decide to land in Canada to apply for the significant other and children if any.

Based on the current thread, no one can categorically tell you the exact number of days/ months it takes to process SOWP since some got approved in a month and others more than 6months.So it usually depends on the VO and majorly on God if you believe in him ooo.(lol) and the truth is to save you time due to delays in processing the SOWP, note that the earlier you apply the better.

Is it advisable for my spouse to apply for a visiting visa so as to travel with me to help me get settled and then come back to Nigeria?

There is no harm in your spouse traveling with you to settle in Canada and return cause it has been done before and people still do same. However, any kind of Visa you choose to apply for would be at your discretion ,and since the delay in processing SOWP has become a major prayer point now, i would think applying for both Sowp and Visitor's visa is doable to be on a safe side, not sure how this works but you can give it a try. I am not so much of a guru in applying for two different visas at the same time but the gurus in here can advise you more.

Whichever decision you make ,i pray it ends in your favour in Jesus name.

Thank you

nice write up....but i doubt you can have a dual intent via SOWP and Visiting Visa ...Maybe a permanent visa and a temporary visa route can coexist

Hi,

Anyone with information about flying Royal Air Maroc to Canada in the next month or so? Just to reconfirm whether the temporary ban is now lifted or not. It is the cheapest and even total flight time competes well with other "better" airlines. Any tips or cautions about doing this?

Thanks.

Hi,

Thanks for the response. Yes, I could see they were banned for the past 2 months until a few days ago.

So my question was whether there is anyone trying to use them in the coming weeks/months and for them to share any tips on the experience. I am not sure what the quality of travel experience is with them so am crowdsourcing information. Saving 500k on tickets between Lufthansa and Maroc, no be small thing. But at times, you can't just quantify some things in Naira & Kobo.

Thanks again.

i have used maroc once albeit europe to nigeria, the airport is fair but the flight itself was not the best experience if i am being honest. the stopover wasnt terrible and as usual the airport was better than our airport so its fine. but if europe to naijas flight was terrible i can only imagine how bad the experience to the north americas will be. but its relatively cheap and las las it will get you to your destination while saving money for other things.

10k plus 4k CAD for one dependent. explain he is the sponsor so you can use his account even though he is the dependent, with documents proving this. I've been seeing power loans up and down in this thread look at those, as well as all those pension funds. if you do not show that there is that amount somewhere even If its patch patch from different accounts you may have a tough time. please also remember property valuations are not proof of funds as it is not accessible cash but rather proof as strong home ties.

Hi,

Please, don't delay yourself any further. Get your upfront medical done ASAP.

While upfront medical is not a recipe for timely review, my informed opinion and that of several observers of the IRCC system of TRV processing over the past 2 years is that having medical in your file at the time of first review may speed things up if you have met all other pre-eligibility conditions. It may not always be the case but there is certainly a pattern to this claim. Even with upfront medical, I still got a medical request for my study permit application in late 2019 and I had to resend via web form and email several times before it was updated.

Another reason you want to get your medicals done now is that the queue at the two designated clinics is long and will get longer. You can hardly get an appointment 3 months ahead any longer but of course someone with a medical request will get priority. However, the earliest I have seen for such is a few weeks to a month using a special request for appointment route based on the fact you have medical request. Similarly, even when complete medical on request, it still takes time to update and the review process continues. Typically, the review stops until you submit medical and you are not sure when an officer would pick up your file again. So if you can afford the time to do upfront medical, please do it.

Ire oh!! It shall end in praises.

Thank you very much my dear brother. In fact, this is what I have been telling my husband and we had issues because of this medical thing. He insisted that I must wait for the request. The whole issue is tiring because I’m confused.

Thanks for your concern and God bless you.

Completed all application forms as generated and uploaded as required

Clients Information for Principal Applicant - my wife 34-pages of documents arranged in the following order
4-pages of Statement of Purpose – Planned Family Trip to Montreal, Canada - "written" by my wife cover hers & the kids' travel intents
2-pages of Family Invitation to Join me in Montreal, Canada for a while written by me
1-page Letter of Authorization and Consent to Travel written by me
Original copy of my enrollment verification letter from the Canadian university showing course registrations up until Winter 2022
Letter of support from my PhD research supervisor who is also the graduate program director reaffirming why bringing my family is helpful
Student copy of my academic transcripts to date
Letter of Introduction received with my study permit in November 2019
Scan copy of international passport, visa, and study permit
Stamped bank cover letter (stating approx. $21k CAD) and summary statement for same Canadian account (showing approx. $18k CAD)
My bank statement slips from Nigeria - wife's Naira a/c balance under 1m & showing prior 6-months of turnover with poor financial activity
My bank statement slips from Nigeria - my dorm a/c balance under $500 but showing prior 1-year of turnover with good financial activity
My bank statement slips from Nigeria - my Naira a/c balance under 500k but showing prior 1-year of turnover with good financial activity
Admission letter, teaching assistant-ships, int'l tuition waiver, doctoral fellowship & scholarships totaling about $140k CAD over a 4-years
Copy of my own CAQ - Quebec's provincial eligibility of study certificate --- only application people whose spouses are studying in Quebec
Scan copy of my Social Insurance Number (SIN) print out

Proof of Relationship Documents
Islamic Marriage Certificate - written 90% in Arabic - not translated -- I feared this could be a problem so I tried to translate but was too late
Wife's birth certificate and sworn affidavit of name correction/past name inconsistencies
Newspaper publication of name change for my wife - done few days to submission and 12 years after marriage
Birth certificates for all the kids and I (primary student visa holder)
Family pictures - prior to wedding, casual family pictures early till date with children and they grow

Letter of Acceptance for the kids applying for study permit
Since this was not possible in my case, I saved a pdf of the website page where IRCC declared that kids of international students do not need LOA. I did the same for a page from the Quebec province website were this was also stated. I then highlighted the exact sentences in yellow and merged. It is possible to write a short LOE with few sentences and attach with the IRCC page printout then upload.

Clients Information for Visitor visa applicant - 2 year old
I couldn't find a copy of the client information document for my son who got visitor visa. But I remember any other documents that was excess from their mum's profile went here along with his own specific things -- not sure exactly what these were again. Most documents from my own study visa application showing home ties - properties, assets, business registration, lease in Montreal, resume for the mum - could have been attached elsewhere but am not sure - were all attached here.

Client Information for the kids applying for study permit
NIN Slip/Cards
Testimonials from earlier schools graduated - nursery/primary
Letter of introduction and studentship confirmation from current school in Nigeria - to whom it may concern
Academic transcripts - old and current studies
Email records and reply with local school board about admission stating - "You will only receive the certificate of eligibility once you have submitted all your documents at our office." - which included the kids' visa and study permit.
Other excess documents that was too large to add to the mother's client info document were merged here including the following;
Rent agreement and official receipts of past 5 years of rent payment
Scan copies of family HMO ID and health coverage cards on a single page
Title document, dock receipt and other transaction documents showing purchase of a Tokunbo car and delivered to port in the US to Lagos

Akannitommy:
You cannot imagine the number of things I am juggling right now --- both here and back home. Family has to come before Xmas and a lot of things to buy/pay for/discard/dispose/gift/sell/store or transfer else where. These take time.

Give me sometime to sort all the time-sensitive things, and I will come back with a comprehensive list of my submission.

It will take some time to sort the issues at hand and more time to go through all the list.

Thanks for your understanding.
