Please, Romoke, did you do a two-way courier with UPS? If so, how much does it cost? I'm trying to compare their price with that of DHL. Thanks.

It depends on the expiry of your TRV. If it extends till next fall, when you can enter Canada for your program, the same visa will do. What you need to do, though, is to send your new LOA to the IRCC the moment you get it.

Thanks for the response. The TRV extends till the beginning of the fall, however, my PP will expire a few months after. Please what do you advise, Can I renew in Nigeria before travelling?

You can use Lufthansa, I wasn’t vaccinated and travelled with ease plus lots of things to drink while on board.

Arrive can can be downloaded and it’s what you will use to fill your travel details 72 hrs to travel date and update your Covid symptoms if any.

I'll really appreciate if i get a response to my issues.

I am applying to a College in Canada for a 2years post secondary program. Like a Vocational program, I already have an BSC in Computer Sci and going for a 2 year vocational college course in IT.

What are my chances of being granted a study visa?

Hi

While you await a response to your queries,

THESE ARE MY OWN SUGGESTIONS FOR YOU

To your first question, you might need to do some research on schools offering Business and Marketing programs at PH.D Level that don't require GMAT.

If there are schools that insist you need GMAT, you can try write a REQUEST FOR A GMAT WAIVER to the Graduate Coordinator or Admission Manager of the program, see the link below for a;

Sample Letter to waive GMAT in CANADIAN UNIVERSITIES (Avoid Plagiarism to the bare minimum)
https://www.nairaland.com/5818588/canadian-student-visa-thread-part/99#90667909

If your GMAT REQUEST LETTER is convincing to them, it might be waived for you.

As regards IELTS for admission purpose, if you are a Nigerian, you don't need it, cos they know Nigeria is an English Speaking Country, the IELTS in admission requirements of Canadian Universities (DLI) are for Non-English speaking countries e.g Vietnam, Indian , Philippine etc.

If the school in Canada one way or the other require an ENGLISH PROFICIENCY from you, get a LETTER OF CONFIRMATION OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY LETTER (TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN FORMAT) from the THE SCHOOL YOU DID YOUR M.SC AND B.SC in NIGERIA. In a situation whereby you can't get both, at least try to get one of them, it would suffice. This letter can be gotten from your SCHOOL REGISTRAR in the senate or better still go to the EXAM AND RECORDS OFFCIE they should be able to guide you on how to get the letter

FOR SCHOLARSHIP,
If you are interested in doing your PHD in BUSIINESS ANALYTICS RESEARCH AREA or AREAS
https://www.nairaland.com/6567181/canadian-student-visa-thread-part/556#104551146

You can also apply the contents in the link above to your PROSPECTIVE RESEARCH AREAS IN OTHER BUSINESS FIELDS AND MARKETING

That being said, take your time and do thorough research on the below PHD programs (OPOOOOR!!!!) and check their faculty for their Business and Marketing Professors, then connect with them based on your RESEARCH AREA (FOCUS) as it aligns with their Areas of Research, publications, projects etc., cos you need to be accepted by a professor (supervisor) before you can begin your PHD ADMISSION APPLICATION

Lots of point and kill PHD Programs for you in Canada, so do your due diligence and try not to put all your eggs in one basket i.e Make sure you try all the programs, schools by contacting professors as much as you can, cos you wouldn't know the one that's gonna give you scholarship opportunity or opportunities, but note that, 76% of PHD PROGRAMS in CANADA if not all are SCHOLARSHIP EMBEDDED (FULLY-FUNDED)

As regards your second question, await response from the gurus and other members of this platform

Good luck!!!

Your chances are low. There is no career progression. You have Bsc in computer science and want to go for post secondary vocational program....

I guess you are looking at the cost implications. Go for PGD or masters in computer science

How many days did it take you to receive your stamped passport back

Hi, they received it on the 1st Nov and I got it back today the 15th. I think its majorly because Lag vfs still has to send to Abuja where the stamping is done so it takes a bit longer unlike when u send directly to Abj.
I didn't mind the time-frame tho. I will advise people who can't wait to kuku send directly to Abj.

Normally, you arent supposed to pay transmission fee since you did your biometrics same place but did you submit your biometric slip? That may be a factor.

Romoke1995:

I sent to Lagos on Thursday
I got a call from them today to pay a transmission fee of 9410 to one sterling bank account. I sent to Lagos because I did my biometric in Lagos and now I donno why they asking me to pay transmission fee again ?
Please has anyone experience this lately ? Kindly assist

Hello Joan, I am also going to Centennial College Winter 2022. Let's connect..

JoanJerome:
Hello everyone... Is there anyone leaving for Canada this January? I got admitted to Centennial college and I'll be glad to connect with the person. I'll like to get information regarding accommodation/ travel plans so we can pair up. Also, anyone who has settled in Toronto area can give pointers to newcomers for relatively affordable residences. Ps: I'm female.

Canadian labor market. I had a Team meeting with the instructors and they specified on how students get employed directly from these programs.

Canadians and Canada PR don't need a study visa to study in Canada. So, some do vocational programs to get employed. Some former international student do it after they get their papers too.

However, lower education is often seen as red flag by visa officers. Also, never 100% trust what you see on school website or hear from them as their employability rate. Many of those statistics are inflated and do not reflect the obvious fact that you are on your own after your degree.

No program will help you look for job and no education or degree is enough if you can't convince your potential employers. Don't be fooled by the marketing strategies designed by your school. Former students of your program or supervisor will tell you more truth about the program or supervisor than anything you see on the internet. All the best.

I am sure you have gotten first hand info for sending your PP to Lagos.

For the counterfoil, your length of study determines that duration. It is usually additional 3 months upon the expected finish of your program. Even if they paste 2024 there, your LOI will specifically mention that you have 3 months after the expiration of your program irrespective of length of SP. so it is your responsibility to proceed to either apply for your PGWP or extend your studies before applying for the PGWP depending on what you want to do.

See below from LOI sent:
Note: As an international student in Canada, it is your responsibility to ensure that you continue
to meet the conditions of your study permit, including the requirement to actively pursue studies.
Your study permit will automatically become invalid 90 days after you complete your study
program, regardless of the expiry date indicated on your study permit.

All the best
nairagrounds:
I want to send my passport to Lagos VAC for stamping, but I want to hear about the experiences of those that did the same in the past.

I did my biometrics in Lagos and won't be traveling till next fall, so there's no point in rushing.

Do I still make other payments, especially to the VFS, other than the courier service charge?

Also, what did the folks that got 2024 on their TRV do differently? Is it normal, or is it because they sent a new LOA to the IRCC? I want to get that too.

What’s the take of you all, Nairalanders?

Thanks!
