Wrong, maybe. Illegal, no.

Use of blackmail, character assassination is against the law. 400 level law student would win these loan companies in court over blackmailing.

OP, kindly be of help to others by mentioning the name of the loan app so that people can avoid them. There are a several good ones and several bad ones. The only way we can know the good and the bad is when people speak out. From my experience, I can confirm that the bad ones are: Nairaplus, Cashlion, Lcredit. But there are a lot of good ones that will not spoil your reputation. They are Branch, Carbon, Fairmoney and Umba. Choose wisely.

Carbon and Branch are the best because they don't charge late fees and you will have rest of mind. I will always go to them any day. Fair money, JumiaPay, Migo, EasiMoni are all in the same class, fair interest and at least a 1 month repayment period.

All loan apps in Nigeria are regulated by laws, ut some apps perform illegal activities. It saying they shouldn't demand repayment but a particular loan app, Lcredit is infamously known for spying on the activities of your phone and serial calling you till you repay. The money they even loan is less than what they expect you to repay. Not saying op is fully right but, certain loan apps should please follow rules and regulations

I also disagree with you, the fact that he did not pay on the due date does not mean that they should start with character assassination
Tzar:
I disagree with you.
The problem with Nigerians is that we do not READ!
1. If your contract says you will be debited on 2nd regardless of when the loan was disbursed, then you are the one that is wrong to accuse them!
You should have stopped the loan and signed a new contract if the 2nd day repayment was not convinient for you. But as Nigerians, we assume the other party will understand .
2. Why are you complaining about the interest rate? Didin't you read your contract? You collected the loan and enjoyed it, now you are vexing about the interest on the loan? That is rather selfish on your part too.
3. You do not understand Nigerians and their penchant for not paying back their loan. These companies know the evil nature of Nigerian to reap where they did not sow. Therefore, they have deviced a rather unprofessional way to recover their money. You see, Nigerians do not like to be called out or shamed , so they use this psychological tactics to compel repayment.

Come and see o! A particular loan app in this Nigeria has been threatening me over a loan that isn’t due, out of 6 instalments I’ve paid 3 and now just some hours after the 3rd instalment is to be paid they’ve started sending me threatening messages and even had the guts to contact people on my contact list that I’m late on my payment. This is so wrong!!

So in July I took out a loan of 150k to pay back in 6 months, they gave me their rules and how I’ll pay it (make I no even talk the big interest rate way dem give me, that one one na topic for anoda day). After confirming my loan on the 2nd of July, it took 4 days for the money to reflect in my account after many stories and mails to them. Can you imagine that these guys have been debiting me on the 2nd of every month claiming that’s when my loan was approved and it’s from my end there was a delay. That’s so unprofessional and mean! I’ve tried to speak with someone on their end but nothing…they’re just speaking English. I don’t know how to report them. Now they’re threatening me even though they’re the ones at wrong.

Most of these loan companies don't care about you or your reputation o. They will promise you heaven & earth everything join with sweet words, they will trick you with social media ads only to lure you in and torture you.

I just tire. I’m soooo pained that I even had to take a loan in the first place and this is what they’re putting a customer through. Na only to dey dirty people name them sabi all these loan apps are one kind and maybe even fraudulent cause not only is their interest rates too high, they shouldn’t be allowed to threaten people at all even if they’ve missed a payment date; it’s just wrong. Is this how all loan apps are? What can I do? I heard FairMoney and some other loan apps are better?
Re: A Loan App Is Threatening Me! Help! by ImaIma1(f): 12:17pm On Nov 30, 2021
There's no need for all these wailing. You agreed to the interest rate. The date of repayment should not be a problem. At least if you on salary, your salary would have been paid long before the date, and you just leave their money in your account for that date..

So what's the issue? When you were desperately in need of the money, you were ok with the terms and conditions. Now that you have spent the money and are faced with the task of repaying, plenty stories have entered.

Please how does the overdraft work?
Does it work for new customers

You just have to use your account regularly for some months to qualify. Opened my Kuda account on February this year, got the overdraft around June/July

And I think the overdraft amount you qualify for is calculated to be 30% of your average monthly volume? I think.
Like if your transactions or savings in a month is around 100k, you qualify for 30k. Which was what I got in my case.

Keep in mind if you dip into your overdraft you are expected to repay within 30days, and the interest rates are 0.3% per day.

BRO, from you explanation which is not completely clear, You took the Loan in JULY (lets Assume JULY 1). you ought to Start paying by:

AUG 1 : -----
SEP 1: ----
OCT 1: --------
NOV 1: ------
and be Ready to pay the 5th installment by DEC 1

if you have only paid 3 installments (from you Write up) YOU ARE GUILTY!

Please Clarify, why Have you paid Only 3 Installments?
