If your car is not an asset, then sell it if you can't cope. Tougher times ahead for Nigerians where only the wise will survive

Obviously fuel subsidy will be removed in 2022 and PMS is expected to be sold at N350 per litter. Nairalanders, how do you plan to cope with this increase considering the fact that income is not going up.
On my side, I had to take a painful decision of trading off my beloved 6 cylinder engine Sienna and got a corolla which consumes less fuel. I can't come and go and kii myself. undecided
It's not about the rate of consumption but how much you LL spend to get little fuel . And if I may ask, what will you trade your generator for

you know why Europeans don't buy cars with big engine, because petrol is very expensive!!!!
erico2k2:
They will still subsidise it, do not kid yourself, if not petrol will sell above N500.Ask yourself this simple question, where or what country of the world can you land petrol from for N400/ltre. there goes your answer.

Obviously my fuel bill will increase, and I may have to eventually 'bulk buy' food, also, cut unessential spending.

May have to minimize car usage excessively as well, and work more harder, and get side hustle for more kudi

Something we should have done since 2012...remove subsidy, done with it.

Maybe, knowing what this government has done in the past.

But this time, the government is running out of money big time. Rumors are afoot that there may be salary delays next month, and so forth.

Removing the subsidy completely may be the only way to free money up.

No government will remove subsidy less than one year to elections.
APC knows they will lose if they try it because the hardship that will come with it will make people ask them to leave even before 2023.
Forget subsidy removal next year.
whether they do or not ,they will still lose

We don't have subsidy in 2022 budget so its illegal for government to continue subsidizing the product. Better to prepare for the worse situation. Who ever thought that the price of fuel will increase to N165/liter.
Don't mind them, it will hit some people like they never expect.

I don roof my pangolo house in case landlord do anyhow
Then bought a small land outside town where I would plant cassava and veges by next year

I realised that why it seems things are harder is because we now spend more on food than before, at least those days, pepper, vegetables (pumpkin, okro, scent leaves), fruits were planted near the house and sometimes you only need to buy crayfish and fish to prepare a simple food

last year August I bought a 50cc Honda Dio scooter that has a fuel consumption of 50km per litre,I can't sell off my Honda DC v6 because the fuel consumption between v6 and 4 cylinder is not too much,I will leave the car for long distance family shuttle,it is this Honda scooter that will be the game changer to shuttle short distance of 50km or more,a full tank of 6 ltrs can go up to 300-350 km.

Recently, not sure I have seen any mechanic that does that, most prefer to change the engine. Like you said with the rising cost of an engine, some will make a trial. Necessity they say is the...
A waste of resources...The best is simply buy a new engine and replace the old...

If not mechanic go chop the person tire...They are not trained to work on engine to return it back to life.

The way some of you lots mention that the price of PMS in Nigeria is one of the cheapest in the world makes me wonder if some folks have lost touch with the world. On what basis is the price of PMS in Nigeria among the cheapest in the world? What is the GDP of Nigeria compared to the states you listed abovehuh
How much is minimum wage in Nigeria compared to the states above and to Egypt, etc?
What is Nigeria's employment rate compared to the states above.
Nobody should defend recklessness simply because you want to score cheap acceptance.

She is right though!
A litre of petrol in america is one dollar!
a litre in nigeria is #165
He is using a dwindling currency like the naira to make a comparison with other countries where their currency is of huge value to them!
A dollar can buy so much in America while a naira will get you absolutely nothing in nigeria!
