We are saying the same thing ..
The idea of a Messiah is Jewish in origin.
In my place we just know they are king and accord them due respect.
The Messiah the jews are talking about, the one God promised to send them is supposed to bring peace between them and their neighbors. Build the temple and resume the daily sacrifice to their God.. because of his righteousness, the entire world would be infected with his good life and peace will gradually come to earth. USA and the likes will turn their war arsenals into ploughs and tractors....no more wars and oppression of any kind.
I really would like to live in such a world. Who wouldn't?
You and i aren't saying the same thing!
You've not answered my question, why must the Messiah be a Jew and not Yorùbá, Nigeria from Africa? smiley

The Messiah is a Jewish king...the tanakh is a Jewish book. I don't really know what you are expecting.

Their book their story...has got nothing to do with me.

IFA belongs to the yoruba ...you won't find any mention of jews there...

That's why i believe in Jesus of Nazareth as the Messiah promised in the Bible. He must unite all the people in the world but there must be a global preaching and teaching to get all people fully prepared for coming King.
Jesus' first coming was to commission a global training, even John the baptist had this same misconception you're having right now. When John was arrested for saying what's right he expected Jesus to come and rescue him since God spoke from heaven to confirm Jesus when John baptized him. So when Jesus didn't take any action after John's arrest John sent his disciples to go and ask Jesus:

“Are you the Coming One, or are we to expect a different one?” Matthew 11:3

So there's no way the Messiah can unite OBEDIENT humans globally without first commissioning a global preaching and teaching program Jesus of Nazareth did in the first century.
Today it's yielding positivity globally, JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES (Jesus' true disciples) are uniting obedient people throughout the world using the Bible to erase politics and racism from their hearts just as God's word foretold. Isaiah 2:2-4; Micah 4:1-3

I know you believe in the Jewish Messiah, your knowledge is inaccurate because God's word foretold that the Messiah will unite all obedient people first but only humble people who have love for righteousness will respond positively that's why Zephaniah the prophet said:

"before the decree takes effect and that day passes like windblown chaff, before the LORD’s fierce anger comes upon you, before the day of the LORD’s wrath comes upon you. Seek the LORD, all you humble of the land, you who do what he commands. Seek righteousness, seek humility; perhaps you will be sheltered on the day of the LORD’s anger" Zephaniah 2:2-3

So whoever tells you to remove Jesus of Nazareth from the scene must explain why the Messiah who never came to establish a training program can convince me that it's the word's of the Jewish God i must obey and not that of the gods of my ancestors! smiley

Clear Undisputed Prophecies About messiah, Who he will be and What he will do

* messiah must be from the Tribe of Judah and a Descendant of King David AND King Solomon, not Jeconiah, through his human biological father. Genesis 49:10, 2 Samuel 7:12-14; 1 Chronicles 17:11-14, 22:9-10, 28:4-6; Jeremiah 23:5, 33:17; Jeremiah 22:30, 36:30, Psalm 89:35-37. Genealogy in the Bible is only passed down from father to son Numbers 1:1-18.

J-s didn't have this genealogy, he didn't have a birth father from the Tribe of Judah, in the line from King David and Solomon, not Jeconiah. He had a virgin birth according to Matthew and Luke. And even if he didn't have virgin birth neither genealogy in Matthew 1 or Luke 3 can produce a King to be the Messiah. In Luke 3 the genealogy doesn't go through Solomon as required and in Matthew 1 the genealogy is rejected because it goes though Jeconiah.
II Samuel 7:12-14, I Chronicles 17:11-14, 22:9-10, 28:4-6, Jeremiah 22:30,36:30.

* When Messiah is reigning as King the Jews will be ingathered from their exile and will return to Israel Deut. 30:3; Isaiah 11:11-12; Jeremiah 30:3, 32:37; Ezekiel 11:17, 36:24. This didn't happen, the Jews were dispersed widely after the death of J-s.

* When Messiah comes the Temple in Jerusalem will be rebuilt and sin sacrifices will be fully instituted Isaiah 2:2-3, 56:6-7, 60:7, 66:20; Ezekiel 37:26-27, 45:17-46:16; Malachi 3:4; Zech. 14:20-21. The Temple was destroyed after the death of J-s.

* When Messiah comes there will be Worldwide Reign of Peace and complete end to war Micah 4:1-4; Hoseah 2:20; Isaiah 2:1-4, 60:18. There are still wars upon wars.

* When Messiah is reigning as King all of the Jewish people will observe Torah Ezekiel 37:24; Deut. 30:8,10; Jeremiah 31:32; Ezekiel 11:19-20, 36:26-27. Everyone is not obeying Torah the world is filled with rebellion to the Most High.

* When Messiah comes all the people of the world will come to acknowledge and serve the one true Elohim Zechariah 3:9, 8:23,14:9,16; Isaiah 45:23, 66:23; Jeremiah 31:33; Ezekiel 38:23; Psalm 86:9; Zeph. 3:9.

* J-s didn't fulfill any prophecies about Messiah. He didn't have a human biological father in the royal kingly line, the Jews have not ingathered from their exile, the third Temple has not been rebuilt, there is not world wide peace, there is still war, all the Jewish people are not observing Torah and not all people are serving the Most High.

Did God ask anyone to believe in somebody other than himself in the old testament?

sonmvayina:
Did God ask anyone to believe in somebody other than himself in the old testament?
You and i have been through this several times but for the benefit of other followers:

I will raise up for them from the midst of their brothers a prophet like you, and I will put my words in his mouth, and he will speak to them all that I command him. Indeed, I will require an account from the man who will not listen to my words that he will speak in my name. Deuteronomy 18:18-19

“Repent, therefore, and turn around so as to get your sins blotted out, so that seasons of refreshing may come from Jehovah himself and he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus. Heaven must hold this one within itself until the times of restoration of all things of which God spoke through the mouth of his holy prophets of old. In fact, Moses said: ‘Jehovah your God will raise up for you from among your brothers a prophet like me. You must listen to whatever he tells you. Indeed, anyone who does not listen to that Prophet will be completely destroyed from among the people.’ Act 3:19-23

It's impossible for anyone to believe without a messenger, Moses served as God's messenger who mediated the first covenant so the Jews must believe in what Moses said before they can truly claim they believe in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob

In the same manner it's impossible for anyone to believe in the second covenant without Jesus. So whoever tells you he believes in the first covenant through Moses but disbelieve the second covenant through Jesus can continue waiting for another Messiah.
But i assure you today that there's no way anyone can unite the whole world without first coming to establish a global training program which Jesus of Nazareth commissioned in the first century.

I believe the first covenant through the writings of Moses and i equally believe the second covenant through the gospel about Jesus of Nazareth! smiley

There are few questions i have for you with all these your write-up.

If truly you believe in the Messiah and that the Messiah is coming to unite the whole world by teaching everyone to understand God perfectly. What will become of your REINCARNATION?

Will everyone reach Nirvana since the Messiah who supposed to be a perfect master train everyone to become perfect?

If you are still confused, sonmvayina, here is the full post from budaatum. You didn't respond to his assertion. I am interested in knowing what your thoughts are bordering on it --- especially the bolded portion in the second paragraph.

budaatum:
This is very not true. The stories we read about Jesus specifically teach “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

The bolded 'your' means your God, whichever it may be. You hinted on this understanding with "Not necessary Judaism", so it does not matter that some wait since many have not yet received a book, and some not even abc.

I said the Messiah will lead people fo the worship and reverence of one God. The creator of the universe...Not necessary through Judaism..yorubas refers to the creator as Eledumare and the igbos as chukwu....the yorubas will worship Eledumare and the igbos will worship only chukwu ONLY.

I guess the question you need to first consider is, What is God, but we don't before we start adding and subtracting from what has not been established (at least a common understanding hasn't), and then we argue that we see more than others instead of admitting we read it in books and ignorantly chose to believe instead of understand what we read. You called God, the "Universal Consciousness", so you ought to respect the individual parts that make up that consciousness. It is the second commandment given by Christ, 'that you love your neighbour'.

Paul inspires me to say:

When one of you says, I am a follower of this,” and another says, “I follow that,” aren’t you acting just like the ignorant people of the world? After all, who is this? Who is that? We are only humans seeking understanding. Each of us did the research. Seeds are planted in our hearts by our reading and it grows. It’s not important who does the planting or who does the watering. What’s important is that the seed grows. The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose of increasing knowledge and enlightening. And both will be rewarded for their own hard work. For we are all workers working in the field so we may build.

The highlighted is the evidence that you don't understand what the scripture says! cheesy

Because if the highlighted is exactly the way you want to interpret it, then why can't you wait until God writes it in the hearts of everybody in the world? Why are you here saying you want to stop people from believing what they know?
Why not allow this your god to write it in people's hearts?

I can quote the laws of my God for you with efficacy today because Jesus' real disciples came to my house and taught me and it all stick to my hearts as if it's written there, but you're saying your own god will come and write it in people's hearts without anyone preaching or teaching them.

Who is this your god?
You want to say it's the Jewish God and where you're quoting says this God will write His laws only in the hearts of His own people (Jews)

You're really funny you know!

You're really funny you know! cheesy
Read verse 33...

See, you are just trying so hard to be dumb.

You are the one who gave Ezekiel 31:31-34..

Read verse 33. God said he is going to pit his laws in their mind.

He never said he was sending his son as sin sacrifice...haba
