You funny die...

If you are talking of A-list actors and actresses in Nollywood, where will you look?

If you want your movies to sell, who are the timbers and calibres you must include?

Ogbeni, Nollywood is purely and Igbo enterprise, dont argue, just ask your friend...

Yorubas were majorly in theatre dramatization but just lately began to embrace Nollywood having realized that theatre was becoming outmoded...
every son's and daughter's from different tribes and states has something to contribute in this great nation call Nigeria but hate, tribalism, religion bigots, my party your party and greediness keep pulling us back Yoruba is good in music doesn't mean other tribes don't have good musical backgrounds igbos are good in movies don't mean other tribes are folding their hands calabar carnival is also contribution to the nation others I did not mention has something they are good at why do we always attack on each other all these things won't take us anywhere.

PSQURE, J-MARTINS, TIMAYA, Burna Boy etc are all Yorubas.

Of all the Artistes you mentioned here, only Burna Boy has won a Grammy award ! Is it a coincidence that Burna Boy himself is half - Yoruba ? Love it or hate it,there is something uniquely special about the Yoruba people.

A music that fellow Africans don't like is not music.

Nigerian music is full of noise. The only reason Nigeria music are in the top chart of Mtv Africa is because Nigerians knows how to bribe their way to the very top.

Wizkid sold out his ticket in London because he bribed people to buy his ticket, right?

Fela too must have bribed his way to stardom.

We are not the ones that cursed you, boy.

How about
Mike Okri
Oliver de ...
Asadebe
Baba Fryo
Daddy Shoki
There was this Tina something then
Or is it because they didn't feature international artist?
Beside that, it was when Obasanjo opened our country to telephones that the media was able to spread abroad.

LISTEN TO YOURSELF,ANYTHING THAT FAVOURS YOU PEOPLE WILL ALWAYS BE RIGHT, ABEG HOW MANY PEOPLE FOR ENTIRE SOUTH AND MIDDLE BELT KNOW UNA MUSICIANS APART FROM NEW GENRATION SINGERS LIKE THEM OBO AND CO. IGBO SONGS KEEP DOMINANTING IN CHURCHES BOTH HERE AND OUTSIDE, CHECK GHANA,TOGO,BENIN AND MANY OTHER COUNTRIES. I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT ENGLISH AFROBEAT SONGS.
Wiifesnatcher:

is not about what you like because your likeness might be in the minority, Reno is talking about national and international acceptability of Nigeria music which Yoruba singers dominated

I was surprise to see igbo in my area dancing and singing Zazoo zeh that a Yoruba like me don't even find interesting, so is not about what you like, who know you? is about what the majority accept

The breakthrough is from Lagos, not necessarily Yoruba. You can't excel in music in Nigeria, if you don't operate from Lagos

This is true
Was going through some tiktok videos recently, was surprised most international trending songs used in making their videos are yoruba songs, and they were vibing to it even when they have lil or no understanding of the words.
That's great.
People vibe mostly to Peru,Love nwatiti(igbo), Ameno naija remix(benin), most of the songs are not yoruba

Lagos is not in Yorubaland, Lagos is a Yorubaland.

[1quote author=otipoju post=109324346]No big deal. Its because cosmopolitan Lagos is the epicenter of the entertainment industry and commercial capital of Nigeria. Lagos is in Yorubaland and dominated by Yorubas .

Nevertheless since all Nigerian tribes live there and they have relatives in other parts of nigeria and abroad...anything that breaks through in Lagos, a yoruba city will become popular in the Nigerian hemisphere.

That is why lagos is called " Eko for Show"[/quote]

THAT'S THE TRUTH,THEY DON'T EVEN KNOW THAT MOST OF THESE ARTIST AREN'T Yoruba.LAGOS IS JUST THE MAJOR FACTOR THAT HAS ENHANCED THE OUTSPREAD OF Yoruba LANGUAGE,IF NOT EHN NOBODY GO HEAR THEM
Armaggedon:
Yorubas are good in music and Yorubas are best in music are two afferent statements. I'll wait until he makes the second statement which obviously he is afraid of making.

Phyno flavour and a lot of Rapper use more Igbo than English and are quite popular outside Nigeria.

Not to mention that Gospel music uses more Igbo and has even grown to be more influential outside Nigeria than secular one

Keep deceiving yourself

King of Boys became popular without that, the lead actress and producer were Yoruba and so many other movies like that, check Netflix.

Top grossing Nollywood movies of all time were all dominated by Yoruba producers, where would Nollywood be without Yoruba producers and directors?

Check out the upcoming Nollywood movies that was in a post on front page, it was dominated by Yoruba producers, actors, and actresses, but believe whatever you like to help your complex.

Not a fan of Reno Omokri

With all Humility

The Yoruba Language itself is very musical and melodious

I believe that the Praise Singers of the Oba's and the Singing Town Criers must have played a big part in making it so

For example Ewi speaks and tells stories in a melodious manner that is sweet to the ears

Ewi is a Yoruba form of Poetry that has somehow latched onto the Yorubas everyday way of speaking

There are many Yoruba dialects for example Ijesha,Ekiti Ibadan if you listen carefully it is almost at as if they sing their Speeches

I agree. I am Igbo but when I listen to fuji music, it’s as if they sing their speech and i think of oba praise singers. I see this with musilyu ishola haruna and also Zinoleesky. Very good music

I have always said the difference between Yoruba and Igbo is simple ...yorubas are largely passion driven while we Igbos are money driven

That's why yorubas Excell in arts even coding is Passion driven reason u see them succeed more
Money or no money Yoruba would still do it

Reason u see Igbos in the money making aspects of music industry ... marketing, promotion n distribution

If davido was Igbo he would have stopped music long ago ...Neto c comes to mind ...rich kid now managing family business empire

If wiskid was Igbo Baba for done invest tire ..music money would seem like a waste of time
seriously u seems to be ibo, u just spoke the truth about the two tribes without any iota of sentiment or hate.

Personally I love Igbo music more than Yoruba's, especially their gospel music by female artists. There's a way they resonate with a deep part of one's soul. But that song Ekwueme remains one of my all time favorite gospel songs.

For spoken language though, I love Yoruba more than Igbo. The language, truth be told, is almost becoming a generally accepted urban/street slang. You see folks from all across the country using Yoruba curse words and exclamations in their everyday interactions. Perhaps it is because the Igbo language is alot more intricate to understand than Yoruba.

That is not to say Reno isn't an idiot though.

chaiiii see analysis
I love this.

me too even tho I don't understand yoruba language but I find it a kinda interesting and you didn’t lie.
most of igbos that lives in lagos enjoy speaking yoruba language.
no doubt yoruba language is more popular than igbo language no arguments.
for example, go to any Yoruba dominated area, be it company, school or any environment.
you'll hardly understand what they're speaking from good morning (eka ro I think) to the least pronunciations. but it's not like that for my igbo speaking brothers, they'll be forming posh by blowing either grammar or pidgin.
you hardly see a yoruba greet a fellow yoruba in English like "good morning" all you'll hear is Eka ro and so on.
but you can't say such for an igbo man.
an igbo man will find it awkward if you greet him with ụtụtụ ọma (good morning) it'll sound somehow to him because he's not used to it.
so as for language, I'll give it to yorubas.
But still on still I love my language and I don't hesitate to speak it whenever the opportunity rises.

coming from music, it's a pure lies Igbo music are being vibed world wide.
I know Yorubas that vibes to osadebe highlife, Oliver d coque, etc.
while I have all fela tracks on my phone and Ebenezer Obey I find igbo music more sweeter and interesting than yoruba music.
many do share same sentiments with me.

as for your friend Reno
I unfollwed the bastard long ago even before his fall out with igbos
the dude is a hypocritical narcissistic self righteous bastard.
I wonder what's he's upto with yorubas this time because he always has ulterior motives

Lagos is the epicenter of Nigeria.

The indigenous language spoken in Lagos will have deep impact in the entertainment industry.

Igbo is not difficult to learn. Just buy an Igbo grammar book. You can gain proficiency in less than two years.

I am learning Yoruba and hope to be fluent before the end of the year.

This is the ONLY part that concerns me: And that is why African Christians are gradually being beguiled to be intolerant of polygamy, which was practised in Scripture, but tolerant of same-sex marriage, which is condemned in Scripture. To think otherwise is to be uncivilised.

But the first set of top musician artists from SW are not even from Lagos state.

Fela - Ogun state
King Sunny Ade- Ondo state
Obey - Ogun state
I.K Dairo - Osun state

Even if the artist is from Osun state or Kwara state, the moment it blows in Lagos, it blows everywhere in Nigeria.
And that why I'm telling the talented and upcoming artist in my place of residence KOGI to forget Lokoja and break into Lagos markets.
