This is the first step to inner peace. Just watch how they wouldn't be talking to you or insulting you anyhow like before. You've taken baby steps. Now concentrate on how to improve yourself and become a better man.

Congrats bro. Reminds me of my first time too, I was 23 though just back from youth service, I refused to go back to my father house after service, although it was a big house and he had properties but i just wanted to chase my own fortune although I am an only son.
Wasn't easy but the respect I received anytime I visited home made it all worthwhile.

I would rather stay put in my parents house and save funds to develop myself or start a business than to go pay one landlord for this harsh Nigeria economy.

This reminds me of when I got my first place. Living alone for the first time almost made me mad with excitement!!! grin

My advice is simple... Take a deep breath, don't get distracted (this happens easily), focus on the main thing that enabled you get this independence in the first place: Your Hustle! Understand that this is just a start (you have not arrived); don't start throwing parties and all what not.

If you lose guard, you will end up back in your parents' house or even worse.
