Thanks for your concern.
I repeat, I'm very careful and highly sensitive to release my personal information and that of my brother to any1.
For your doubt, you can see the attached screenshots of my brother portfolio.(only 4 pages could be posted)
I'm here to seek the elderly advise of people of timbres and calibers like Pa Emma et al.
For whoever is knowledgeable in portfolio construction will only get the equities portfolio with no name and personal information.
On the other hand, I keyed into your suggestion of seeking brokerage firms opinion.
The only reason my brother detests their opinion is due to their unreasonable recommendations.
My brother mentioned that he was always following the recommendations of Meristem and Afrinvest from 2017 to 2019.
Most time they tell u to buy, the stock crashes in price, when they tell you to sell, the stock begin to appreciate.
This platform has been a guide to my personal stocks portfolio.
We weren't communicating at the time he was buying most of the stocks coz of individuals differences and sundry issues.
We only re-established communication in Nov 2021. That was when he told me about his portfolio and investment objective of investing for his kids University education.
@ Pa Emma, I just introduced him to NSEMPA today.
I used to be a guest on this platform for years but only registered recently.
I already told him Pa Emma suggestion and he is also reading it as I'm typing this response.
He keyed into investing N1m yearly in fixed income funds, since he can afford it.
He still insists on a neutral expert who can reconstruct this portfolio without sharing of personal informations.

am just thinking how a person with such a portfolio over the years wont have enough financial knowledge on how to re-balance his portfolio and plan ahead.....my thoughts only....

your so-called brother should visit reputable financial institutions like UCAP, Stanbic IBTC etc for guidiance.
The fee they will collect is their professional investment advice as a professional body

Its very risky seeking such advice on a public forum like this as advised already...my 1kobo advice...

....all the very best for you and your brother....

...I just noticed that my MTN public offer has been updated in my MC trading account. The total number of shares is correct, but the Ave cost is wrong. Should I need to escalate. I was expecting an average cost of 168.5, as my previous Ave cost was 168 before the PO units, but to my surprise the current Ave cost is now 180.1.
Please advise. Thank you
Guess the average cost price has to do with volume and the high unit price of MTNN........high average cost used to come with how big the share price is....
I think your purchase charges (and possibly selling charges) was also factored in.......

You can demand for an explanation from your broker, they needed to look into it and tell you how they arrived at the figure.

Pa Emma is a very knowledgeable, veteran and trustworthy member of this thread and forum in general, so this is not about Pa Emma, but i would implore you to be very wary of other wolves / people out there that can jump on this your info and do u damage. the info is too much for a public forum and you might want to edit / delete some (if the info are true anyway)

My candid advice is to walk into any reputable stockbroking/ financial firm (we have a lot of them like UCAP / Meristem / Investment One / FBN Merchant/ Stanbic IBTC e.t.c) to seek a solution to your challenges which they would do justifiably and at reasonable charges

n.b i dont work nor am i associated (other than as a customer) to any of the firms mentioned.

Selah

I am not sure those brokerages will provide the solutions that he requires for sustainable financial freedom. A lot of those names have departed from the objectives of their founding fathers and focus on generating sales figures and reaping huge bonuses from meeting targets and budgets.

If you critically analyse scenarios very well, the suggestions, reviews, etc from this platform somewhat outweighs any information you will get from any of these brokerages houses or fund managers.

They are good for warehousing and executing transactions but will not make you take great steps towards being financially free.

A good example is when the global financial system fell to the effects of the Covid-19 situation, most fund managers advised their clients to put their funds into money market instruments almost completely thereby ignoring equities. The courage to invest in equities came majorly from the review of notes and criticism on this platform from the various proponents and critics therein. We all know how beneficial that has been.

A big shout out to the gurus, mentors, active participants and critics (too many to mention) on this platform who continue to do justice and perform good deeds by providing advisory services than most trading firms and fund managers have done in the past and recent times.

May the Lord continue to bless all of you and increase your portfolios. Someday, we will be able to host ourselves to celebrate each other with our physical presence and enhance the bond.

Like I mentioned, I introduced my brother to stock investment, he hasn't lost any money yet. He just wanted to rebalance his portfolio. He invests with the hope of being able to comfortably pays for his 3 kids, age 7, 5 and 3 years University education.
I have being a fan of blue chip stocks from my high school days, hence I follow my objective.
In years of fluctuations, I averaged down while my brother was just investing blindly with the hope of securing his kids University education.
I'm not scared of being duped coz noone can dupe me for real.
Any expert in portfolio re- construction is welcome.
There would be no sharing of personal information.

There is nothing complicated about this rebalancing problem.
My advice.
Sell all the shares in the portfolio that can give you a profit when sold and then invest the proceeds in buying STANBIC @ less than N35.
The remaining shares in your portfolio will be those shares that will give you loss if sold recently, You/Your brother have no choice but to hold them until you can sell them for profit.
Why Stanbic?
The Highest Dividend yield in the NGX for now and the company and its subsidiaries are sound fundamentally.
Read their 2021 Unaudited financial statement and their 2020 Annual Report for your research purpose.
I am confident that by following this advice your brother's dividends paid for 2020 this year will be the highest that he will ever receive in a year.

There is nothing to worry about it's a system configuration of must trading platform.

This is how it works: Anytime shares enter your account on the trading platform apart from any purchase made by you, it goes in at the current market price so what you see is like you bought MTN at say 194 or there about even though the offer was 169 which is not on the trading machine presently. The real value of your MTN is what you see on your cscs statement. Same thing happens if you move your stocks from one house to the other, If you want those stocks to appear on your trading platform instead of just on your cscs, the stock prices will be calculated with the price at the date of the movement even though you didn't fund your account you will see a different average price.

Example I bout Nestle less than 1,000 some years back. I needed to move the stock to another house and needed the stock to appear on my trading platform in the new house. As we speak the average price of Nestle is 1,403 with some fractions because on the day of the transfer Nestle was close to 1,500

So nothing to worry about. Leave computer to do its own; you just know the amount you bought on the average.

I want to say again those trading platforms are as the name implies just for trading, the most authentic instrument as per your portfolio quantity and value is the cscs statement from online if you are a subscriber to cscs plc or from your stockbroker.

However, you can draw their attention to it if you don't mind. They could correct it manually but the truth is that average price of your MTN shares has nothing to do with the value of your stock.

@pa elder Emma,
Many thanks for your feedback and suggestions, I'm currently with my brother, we worked up his dividends in 2021 financial year, total dividends earned was N3,433,221. Compared with my portfolio that earned N9,770,127.55k, as at November 2021, my portfolio was N96.7M, I made additional investments in Dangote cement and MTNN from December 2021 to February 2022.
The issue at hand now is that he does not want to rebalance at a loss and buying blue chip stocks at the current exorbitant prices.
He agreed to reduce the portfolio to maximum of 30 equities.
Also agreed to retain the stocks that mirror my portfolio, while disposing 43 that are the worst of the 73 stocks in his portfolio.
Also plan to invests all dividends of year 2022 in a fixed income assets.
He is seeking the expertise of a professional who can rebalance his portfolio at a cost.
Please if you know any1, kindly share your email on this platform for further discussion.
I do not have the knowledge to rebalance my brother portfolio, kind of giving me headache.
I recommend a professional stock guru/investor to do the task. Pls if you are available, you are needed.
Brokerage statement and current cscs statement will be made available

From your post, I notice you said as at November 2021, the worth of your portfolio is 97M and you earned 9.77M as profit...that is, you made around 10% as profit last year.

Well, I am not suppose to say this but I just have to since we are all here to learn. Bros, I think you are not earning enough with the huge fund at your disposal.

The market paid so well last year and you only made 10% as profit?

Honestly, I think you have to do better.

It is dividend not profit. They are different.

Oh...I miss that part. If it is dividend, then it is perfectly fine.

@foundwealth001...In my opinion, if your objective is to become a billionaire by 2030 like you said, having too many stocks in your portfolio might not take you faster to that destination.

I think you should look towards having a mixture of blue chips/high dividend paying stocks and some growth stocks depending on the direction of the market. Maybe less than 10 stocks in your portfolio so that you can easily monitor them.

I believe in concentration of funds in selected few stocks than having so many stocks.

Take for example...let's see you saw the potential in growth stocks like Vitafoam/ fidson or Ucap two years ago or early last year and you concentrated a huge part of your fund into buying them, I believe your portfolio will worth far more than what it is currently.

Just my honest opinion anyway.

You should have a Nigerian bank account. If you do, contact your bank's customer service on the bankers confirmation. They should have a way to do and mail one to you. The you forward it to the CSCS through mail.

When writing they will ask who you want it addressed to. Tell them to address it to CSCS. You can copy their address online and send along with it.

Thanks so much

Bros, you and your brother are carrying too much load and it is not good for the destination you are targeting. I think you people should shed weight and start moving with like 5 to 10 stocks. Look for growth stocks and or blue Chip that fell from a great height due to previously poor results but have started recovering. Those type of stocks can do wonders for you if you concentrate your fund on them for some time. I will recommend you be on the lookout for PZ, INTERNATIONAL BREWERY, ACCESS BANK, STANBIC BANK, UBA, NGXGROUP, etc. These ones will move mountains in the most recent future. I also recommend that u just keep like 5mil to 10mil to play around with those ALABA/TRADE FARE BIG BOYS in this forum ably represented by LOCO. grin. He is still doing small small miracles for area boys

Same thing happens if you move your stocks from one house to the other, If you want those stocks to appear on your trading platform instead of just on your cscs, the stock prices will be calculated with the price at the date of the movement even though you didn't fund your account you will see a .

Thank you for the detailed explanation. Offcourse yes, the ave cost does not determine the mkt value of the shares. I just like seeing the actual %gain/loss at a glance in the portfolio summary report of MC. Thanks once again.

Thanks for your contributions.

For me ,I will recommend you consult the services of some of our own Ogas like (Oracle,OGG,CP etc) that have proven that they are Good in this business.

Because they said ,the devil you no is more than the angle you don't no.

This guys have been helpful to most of us here.through their recommendations we have benefited so much, both in capital appreciation and dividends payment.

Instead of looking elsewhere, where they will collect money from you in the name of consultation later you will find out that you are even more knowledgeable in stock than the person guiding you in the name of big investment firm.

I suggest you look for away to reach out to this Ogas I mentioned above, they will guide you properly because they have proven their capabilities here and most people here invest in line with their predictions.

Dividend or cash flow from Investment is different from profit.

There is a 95% probability that the dividend will be the same or better this year and beyond, there is no probability that he will make the profit he made from the portfolio in 2021.

I have a very controversial opinion, which is after Investing in the capital for 20 years, you should be able to get dividends that is equivalent to or higher than your current salary in a year.

My opinion though

I honestly do respect your knowledge and experience in the stock market as well as your investment strategies. I have learned alot from you.

But my strategy is more of the Oga Oracle's style... I don't invest for dividend....just price appreciation. smiley

If that is the case, the minimum target is to have a portfolio that is equivalent to your annual salary for 20 years, after using capital appreciation as an investment strategy over a period of 20 years.

Anything short of this is to rework the strategy, incorporate some personal finance, financial planning and management into your strategy

The koko is to create wealth either through cash flow or capital appreciation.

Exactly...wealth creation is the ultimate goal irrespective of whatever strategy you want to use.

I have been in the market for more than a decade and my strategy works for me.

Kindly make it clear to me, probably with a case study. I believe your strategy is a blend of both.

For example if you invested in VITAFOAM, UCAP etc when they were still penny stocks, they have now appreciated in price and you have also earned dividends in them. Or do you sell them off before dividends are paid and then look for other opportunities in the market?

am just thinking how a person with such a portfolio over the years wont have enough financial knowledge on how to re-balance his portfolio and plan ahead.....my thoughts only....

your so-called brother should visit reputable financial institutions like UCAP, Stanbic IBTC etc for guidiance.
The fee they will collect is their professional investment advice as a professional body

Its very risky seeking such advice on a public forum like this as advised already...my 1kobo advice...

....all the very best for you and your brother....

Ask those traders at Alaba, Idumota , ASPAMDA, Ladipo who bought shares because their bankers told them to buy, which they can use as collateral to get loans for the expansion of their Busineses

Any reason for buying Stanbic IBTC?

It does not matter if he is selling at a loss or a profit all the dead stocks in the portfolio should be sold immediately.

My definition of dead stocks are penny stocks that are illiquid, have not paid dividends in 2 years and above, are having problems with profitability and are not acceptable to Financial Institutions as collateral.

Waiting to sell at a profit might be dangerous, he should understand the time value of money

You did well. You can save the PUK in your email or any secure cloud storage.

Locking your SIM with a PIN is a very good security measure.
