Re: 1.5M Monthly In Nigeria Vs 4k Pounds Monthly In The UK by bigtt76(f): 3:40pm On Feb 24, 2022
Exactly. If you convert £4k to Naira that's almost N2,220,872.40M which after tax would reduce to what you currently earn in Nigeria BUT you get more worth for your money in the UK

obailala:
Shut your stinking mouth! I live in the UK and I pay all the so called taxes you talk about. But I've also got friends and family all around Nigeria and I visit Nigeria ever so often, so I'm not as chronically ignorant as yourself. Nigerians may not pay taxes to the government, but to survive comfortably in Nigeria, you end up still spending on basic amenities just about the same figures people in the UK spend on taxes and bills.

In the UK my taxes cover my healthcare, security, roads, access to steady water and electricity, etc. In Nigeria, you have to pay physically for these things and you end up not still getting them efficiently. Do you have a clue how much it cost to run a diesel generator for 12 hours daily in Nigeria? DO you even have a clue how much a unit of electricity cost in Nigeria today?

Meanwhile a £4k salary monthly in the UK after tax is equivalent to about £70,000 annually; a person who earns that literally earns more than over 90% of salaried earners in the UK. For you to say that's not a good salary or for you to even attempt to make a comparison between that and N1.5m, I dont even have words to describe your ignorance.

Listen to the rich people giving you advise don’t mind this useless poor people asking you to japa . 1.5m for Nigeria you be elite not only big boy 4k pounds in UK you will be living paycheck to paycheck. Your standard of living under 1.5m will reduce to nothing living in UK. You can drive nice car here but there you can’t under that 4k .
For me I prefer to live like a lion in the jungle than to stay like a cat in a city .

All these stories are made up stories. If someone has d brain to make 1.5m naira a month, why can't he have the brain to no whether £4k in England is better or not

The story might be made up, but that doesn't stop the fact that it can also be another person's reality, Just play along and pray your own too no go spoil... This life is too complex to be concern about what is and what is not, even your brain cannot differentiate between imagination and reality... That is why imagination is the greatest gift to humanity, when you imagine, your subconscious mind finds a way to bring it to reality... That is why u have to guide ur subconscious with all diligence because the subconscious take 95% of your mind.

[/s] Stop deceiving yourself oga: you're living in Ijebu Òde ,not the UK or any European country for that matter .

And secondly, your ignorance is appalling. Which fvcking taxes are they paying in Nigeria ...is it health, road , or community tax , council tax...which one oga ? Who is collecting them , and where are they collected to? Who is there to hold who accountable if you don't pay taxes...abi is it your fraudulent FIRS with their outdated records system ? undecided

Let us even assume that taxes are paid in Nigeria, now tell me , will be as harsh as the British system of taxation that levies and imposes tax on more than 30% of your earnings ? Is it possible to be comfortable there with 4k pounds , or here with 4k pounds? If your answer is yes, then you're a dumbfvck who can't reason .

And for your information, it seems you don't know Europeans laugh at us when we come to their countries to live and work. I've had the privilege of meeting some of them , and they even wonder why we leave our countries that are almost virtually tax-free to come and grind in their societies that have bottlenecked-tax systems that don't even allow you make a fortune with the much you put into working like a horse .

Just to validate this point, my former boss currently lives and works in Nigeria, and he earns well over a £100k pounds a year in that shithole Nigeria . But guess what ? The old fart enjoys the country and do you know why...? It's because of little or no tax we pay over here!

Even he himself told me plainly that we don't pay taxes in Nigeria, unlike other European and western nations who pay satanic taxes to their government.

This weakness in the Nigerian system alone has made him have savings like crazy ....and he can boast of half million pounds in his account that's he'll use as part of his retirement.

Lastly , a salary of 1.5 million a month can allow you run diesel without your account shaking ...and if you're wise ,there are solar companies that offer their services for less .

So if you like dey do mumu for "jappa". You go still live in rented apartment till you turn 80. Nonsense

Hi if it is true you have the 4000 pounds offer, this is my honest opinion as I presently stay in the UK( outside London) and left a 7digit salary to come here too.
Firstly pray and get GOD's leading and if that is done, 4000pounds is more than enough for you. my own expenses are below:
House rent - 742
Council tax - 130
Gas - 30 Standard meaning you can put on anything when and how you want.
Electricity - 45
TV Licensing - 159
Feeding for 4 - 300 max
transport - 120 0r less, because I work from home.

Total = 1,526

As long as you are cool headed and also I just got a car so transport will become easier for my and my family but I have also paid insurance and tax for it ( insurance is expensive because we are still going to be using international passport to drive for now is 200 including tax.

Your 4000pounds is worth much more than your N1,500.000.

Thank you for this Insight

I really appreciate

4000 * 12 = 48,000, how did you see 90,000

Read and think before you reply.
Before you can get a job paying 48,000 after tax in the UK. Your gross salary will be about 90,000 pounds per annum. Since in the UK you must pay tax, there is no normal job that's tax free.
So Papillo is correct, while you are sounding rather dumb.

We keep shouting moving for your kids , tell me how many big men in 9ja have their kids schooling in Nigeria high school... You can send your child to study there ,while they stay with a Foster parents. After that they gain admission into the university overthere.
While you stay back sending them upkeep with routine visiting. These have always been the usual way most big men, who earn well here do. 1.5mill in 9ja isn't a small cash and even if you remit $1000 every month for your child's upkeep oversea, you won't feel it.
You better sit down and think it through, save as much as you can here, start a reliable business you have ownership of with good profit. Live the life of your dreams here.
That what must people don’t know you can send your kids to the best schools in abroad from Nigeria but the minutes u leave leave you can’t even afford to send them to a low level private school there.
I have a friend living in USA her son is going to the best school in Owerri but in USA can’t can’t even afford private school fee there.

@ Ammishaddai
Stop saying bills and all that compared to £4k remember his £4k is after tax so he has only few bills to pay which would be less than £150 if he has a car £300. That's all.
Education (free for your little children in the govt school;Quality of govt schools o'er there is better).
Oga, living on 4k pounds in the UK depends on a lot of factors like location, lifestyle , savings and a whole lot of other stuff that only an economist can define .

For example, if you live and work in a place like London , you can't do much with 4k pounds , in fact , na cry you go cry . And except you want to be stingy to your health and people at home , you won't get very far with 4k pounds a month. So if you like ,take it or leave.

very true.

He said 4k after tax so lets say he pays high tax of 40% since he will be earning over 50k per annum i guess that will come to about £5500 a month which is about £90k a year.

But right now the highest tech salary is within the range of £65k a year.
Na you no know wetin you dey talk, why will you say highest paying tech job is £65k a year? That's false sir , some people in tech get paid more than that and the beautiful of it is they can even have more than one job if they are working remotely, so sir , stop saying what you don't know
So this story is lamba.

2 things i will say, No UK company will offer you tax-free salary. Not even when you are in Naija. I have been on top of the Game for 15yr and I get over 30K GBP a month but I still have to pay taxes. You will live a decent life with 4k but you can live a better life with 1.5M Naira because you will build a network and have other opportunities you cannot get in the west. All you will get in the UK is Money and in the next few years the money will not be a problem or your employer gets someone cheaper than you from naija the same way they found you.

Thanks for the bolded. No UK company will offer you a tax free salary. So the story has a k leg already.

It is not a big deal especially for agency workers. It works out at £35 an hour for a 37.5 hour week before tax.

Many agency workers earn a lot more
