Exactly. The action is a bit harsh.

Did you say harsh?

The operators should be in jail for data breaching in the first place.

And have you seen the shaming messages they send to borrowers?

Let those thugs be out of job so that they can feel what more than half of Nigeria's 206 million people feel.

The shutting down isn't complete without Lcredit on that list

Those ones are armed robbers.

You apply for a loan of 10k to repay 20k.

They send only 6k to you, and still expect you to pay 20k at the end of the day.

I am compiling a list of them. Someone sent LCredit to me, and I did my findings.

I will first report them to Google, and then to NITDA and FCCPC.

They should ban that LRCredit or is it LCCredit. Those people won't let me have peace and I don't even know the person they lent money from them. Useless bunch.

Now that you've explained, I see it differently.

Good move by the government then.
Thanks for explaining.

danniyal:

How can the government regulate a criminal entity that is not registered and operate from a hideout. It took the fccpc several months to track them down. Are you trying to say arm robbery is a good thing and should be allowed because it provides income for some criminal elements?

Nice one if it's true.

This thing has plunged a lot of people into pitiable debt.

But I don't know how someone can loaned money and find it very hard to pay back on the agreed date. When the loan company start disgracing them, they start crying foul. Some of them will run to nairaland to seek for help. Very stupid and uselesssss people infact thieves. I don't blame loan companies at all for their actions.

A loan and internet banking app that has no physical contact and office address ... Is that a real and authentic loan and internet banking app? Check and confiscate Branch International loan and internet banking too. Just that the Federal government are fake and not authentic too.

You have no means of repaying yet people borrow from there why Is that not criminal intent

There is nothing criminal in refusing to repay loan.

It is a breach of contract. And that is a civil matter.

Moreover, you can't prove intent very easily since you can't really tell what a person has in mind without the requisite training.

Those loan apps are criminals and they shouldn't be allowed to operate in our space. They are mostly Chinese and Lebanese companies who doesn't care about privacy invasion. Defamation and blackmail isn't a good strategy for loan recovery
Imagine an app da would demand access to everything in ur phone. Photos, media, message, contact, etc.. God forbid! No right to privacy. I can neva have anything to do with such people... I love privacy!

Infact, dey're Yahoo people. Because with d information gather from u, u're already vulnerable to Dem. Dey can hack into ur account through alien source even wen ure done doing business with dem.

some people take the loan because it's the only available means to get the money they need at that particular moment.

The lending platform are at fault, how will you loan someone 15,000 and expect 24,000 back within 15 days. That's about 70% interest.

Now tell me.

Assuming you are in dire need of 1millon naira to save a family member's life, and your only option of getting that sum is by taking loan where you will have to pay 1.7million Naira back within 15 days. Will you pay 1.7millon naira back in 15days. Even if you want to pay, how will you that don't have 1milloin Naira to pay for bills 15days ago now have 1.7millon naira after just only 15days.

So if something happens and you couldn't pay back then they should tag you as wanted criminal and send it all over social media and tag your contacts. You think it is everyone that couldn't pay that had the intention of not paying back? Why do we have laws? Both the lenders and the customer must be protected. You are operating an illegal loan app and you are still using illegal means to collect the loan back. They deserve wahtever they get

Sad development for the lenders and the borrowers. The federal government should have found a way to regulate the sector, instead of forcing them to close shops.

They are regulated, the problem is that they don't want to register with government's financial regulators, for example do you know that 90% of these loan companies do not have any known offices?

This is a simplistic response. Defaults on loans are a fact of life everywhere in the world. The response to such defaults needs to be proper, not criminal.

Tell me how it works. By blackmail? By libel and slander? By invasion of the privacy of unconcerned third parties?

By the way, I suppose you meant recovery there, and not repossession.

Careful.
