In other words, the hypersonic arms race we’re living amid today is more like a race to the starting line of a more important competition, and the U.S. is much more focused on winning the next sprint than this one.

The missiles do not have to come from Russia. Using acoustic quieting makes them difficult to detect or track

When they fired missiles into Syria . NATO had no clue they were even there

The truth is if if the US was so confident of their missile defence systems they would be more militarily assertive.
