You have to visit the US as part of the flagpoling process. If you are not admissible to the US then you will not be able to complete the flagpoling process. There is also the risk of being caught between both countries, denied entry to Canada and the US.

if u dont qualify to be in / visit the USA you obviously would be unadmissible to the USA.
Hence it is paramount one checks his/her admission status to USA before embarking on that journey

Further to deepwater clarification, you would have exited canada before u can appear before US immigration to complete flagpoling.At that point,u are in what is called "no mans land" i.e u are not in canada anymore and neither are u in US

If US then denies u entry,the only option for u is to return to canada i.e if u still have valid papers for canada pr u apply fot entry to canada which can also be denied

If u are caught in this loop then they(not sure if its US or canada) would deport u to country on ur passport

Thats why flagpoling is trickish and its best to consult a Canadian immigration expert/lawyer before initiating such

All u need do is inform Immigration officer at Canada border u Wana flagpole ,they'll direct you to the right place, and if it's not possible they'll tell you right away, obviously you still have you Visitor's permit or any other legal permit Valid.
Immigration officers will tell you what to do, so you're not gonna fall in any " no man's land" 1, 2 ,3 , 4 5 etc people have done it successfully. If you know anyone who was caught in no man's land, pls tell the person to come explain himself here, and no speculations.

Honestly. My friend still did it last weekend and it was so smooth. The good thing like uve rightly mentioned is, it is not an illegal thing. Immigration at the boarder will even tell you what to do once you tell them you want to flagpole. It took my friend just 30mins. I don't think it's as deep as described for sowp. Dont know about other type of status

Discalmer:My feedback was based on research into this subject and not experiential hence factors/variables differ and may change or evolve to affect the infered outcomes.

As deepwater clarified, it is not impossible but like all visa applications, it comes with risk of disapproval.it just like study permit we see on the other forum where denials is seen on applications which shouldn't warrant one and once they go to JR,they are settled and issued so imagine such scenarioplaying out at the border,such person would be stuck in no mans land as u are neither admitted to canada nor US.

FYI: Do you know you would be issued an administrative visa refusal by US to complete a flagpoĺe as u need to go to US border section once u leave canada.There are no two ways to that though the chances are higher if u have no issues with ur papers nor ur dependants nor anything that may cause the VO to consider not giving u d visa.

Best of luck and pls lets share experiences of successful flagpoles to learn from it afterall thats what this forum is for i.e information sharing

What would be useful to get from immigration experts is if flagpole is denied,van there be any reason when d current visitor or any other legal visa can be revoked as well coz if there is no grounds for such then flagpole would be perfect without or with minimal risks

It was a foolish mistake made out of my naivety. I came to Canada with a wrong enrolment letter(graduation date as April instead of August), I was given till July 31st on my study permit.
Anyway, I have gotten the correct enrolment letter and have applied for extension.

I am not sure it will come before the webform i intend to raise is reviewed, though i will put it up that i applied for extension.

Consider that what they will use to link your biometrics to your application is not your email but your other details like passport number, date of birth, personal details on biometrics instruction letter from IRCC, etc

So, you can use an email different from the one used to apply for Visa.

Yes, you can. What's important is the appointment letter and other personal details as shown on your passport.
