About the person who started the building, it was a non- professional family member and when I came to Nigeria and saw all he did, I had to terminate the contract. The person is a draughtman. Why I didn't give you the work in December was because you clearly told me that you won't refund 'somehow' a dime, because he was the one who terminated your contract. This was the reason I did a DIY building from plan to finish, I wanted to derv into the minds of Suppliers, builders, designers etc, waht I found was this, 2many variable in the building trade and not enough constants' seriously do not know how Engineers and contractors could give and estimate for a job they are going to do in two weeks, cos prices changes daily. If I was not doing all by myself I would have thought someone ate my money. My advice is please guys lets cut some slacks for builders and Engineers in the house. [b]Sometimes the sublet the jobs to a worker and the worker do not give a damn about reputation and does a shoddy job, [/b]I have one as we speak, ordinary window dressing he made a big messs and wasted 3 bags of cement.

Considering the bolded, if the contractor understands what taking responsibility means, he will be the one to take action on the erring worker, such that the owner of the work will even be begging him to forgive the guy.

Problem only arises when the contractor ignores the poor quality work done and moves, only for the owner of the job to discover it later by himself.

You paid another #100k for remodeling job
In total you have only spent #184k

If doors were delivered that would just be #24k you had committed in total to remodeling job.

And you expected these extent of work
Removing of wall tiles
Plastering of outside wall
Piping of whole house
Fixing of two windows
Labour for replacing basin
Fixing of doors and frames

All these and many more with a promise to pay later ( which I have no doubt you would have paid but I can say what was in Rotecch77 mind)

You no sabi anything at ALL. And the bias you have has blinded you to see the truth. I sent him 218k inclusive of 88k (not 84k) for the wooden doors. I paid 130k (not 100k) as advance payment for workmanship and supervision ALONE and 35k for basin. I gave him even a bit more than he REQUESTED. Note that he did no supervision
