Read your comment to yourself. Tell me, would any decent person want to be around you?

I'm proud of my African heritage, and I neither see whites as superior nor blacks as inferior.

Have a good day

Stop quoting me. Dumb people irritate me. White man ass licker

How many millions of whites love and respect Barack Obama, Oprah Winfrey, and Michelle Obama?

How did they earn so much love and respect? Even from whites?

How people perceive us start with the way we present ourselves. Blacks do contribute to racism to some extent.

It's true that people of all races commit crimes, but take a look at Africa. Where are we in the world? What areas are we leading in? I'll tell you a few of them - poverty and corruption

Why would people not see blacks as inferior when most African countries are going backwards thanks to corruption?

We need to learn to stop playing the victim and take responsibility for our contribution to the negative reputation that we portray

If we present ourselves well, people will respect us. If all blacks were like Obama and Oprah, would so called racism be where it is today?

Africans contribute to the problem of racism - it's undeniable

Let's start taking responsibility and doing what we can do earn our own respect and the respect of other nations instead of playing the victim

abike12:

hmm... it's a lot more complicated than that but let me explain it like this. Black people didn't cause racism, even from history. We never asked anyone to call us monkeys or associate black skin with negative things. Don't think of it as something we can cause, it's more like something that was (and is still) done to us. If you take time to read news from around the world, especially pertaining children, you will see that in most cases it's not about how law abiding (or not) the person is, it's about a system that has been designed to treat black people a certain way, even from a young age. Romance fraud is very common in russia and other countries, even some of the so called "nigerian princes" are not even black, but why is it always a bigger deal when it's a black person caught in a crime. Look at how netflix portrayed the tinder swindler and anna delvey, do you think the narrative would have been the same if they were black? I'm not supporting criminal activity and I don't even have as much as a speeding ticket but it's incorrect to say that africans contribute to racism. People of all races commit crimes.

I think it depends on where you stay. I have not experienced any such thing here. Infact, the white nurses ( girls) have mad love for the blacks that the black guys even run away for fear of being put into problem cos of excessive drinking and smoking.
Some kids might be racist at first but if they see you are intelligent, they start dropping it. They like to stand in the buses, not just because they don't want to seat close to black

I read your last post on your Diary and I really hope you're okay... Sending love to you dear

wrong. Even asians with all their development strides still suffer racism. Most white dont even know where Africa is or what happens there. Their knowledge about Africa is what they are being fed from Historians. Take for example, did you see the white kid that was throwing cotton pebbles at a black kid? We don't produce cotton in Africa. However, his knowledge about a black man is only as cotton picker.

It's just reality. Human beings typically prefer people who are just like them and most of these countries have years and years of institutionalized racism. Even when you don't see it, best believe that it's there. It affects promotions at work, it affects children's experiences in school, it affects life as a whole. How bad it is depends on the situation and the sensitivity of the individual. A lot of nigerians that say they only have white friends are wining and dining with racists but it's not easy for them to see it because they are tone deaf. They feel happy when white people tell them that they are different from other black people, they don't notice the comments about their culture and food, or when their white friends keep mute on serious racial issues. If you want to have a balanced life abroad, don't run away from people like you, be friendly with everyone and pick your close circle based on values and not skin color. You will meet white and asian people in school or at work, keep them in your network so that you can continue to work your way through the system. If you plan to have children especially, please have friends from your culture and country, don't raise confused children that have no culture. The generation before us that came and befriended only non-nigerians are regretting it now that their children don't fit in anywhere. The pride that your children will have in their skin color and culture will come from them watching you. What will they learn from a self-hating parent that speaks poorly about their people? Most importantly, don't break any laws or keep friends that break laws, you will find out that black people typically get harsher sentences. Try to get into a high paying field, comfort is important. Money lowers the voice of racism - when you can afford really nice things, eat at fancy restaurants and shop at certain places, etc but it won't take it away.
op this is the blueprint of living as a blackman in abroad. I love what you wrote about your kid having pride in their skin color. I trained my daughter to have that pride, that even her teachers hold her to high esteem.

How A Fraudulent Agent Duped Me of N1.5m, And How I Eventually Relocated To
Canada Without Using An Agent

I want to tell you a story about Samuel Olabisi, a former Nigerian banker who was duped by a fraudulent agent who promised to provide him a work visa to travel to Canada with his family.
Hear the story from the horse’s mouth…
My name is Samuel Olabisi and I want to tell you my story (I like to call it my Canada miracle story) of how I moved to Canada from Surulere Nigeria almost 2 years ago…..
Two and half years ago, I was at the lowest of lows.
Why, you ask?
My application for permanent residency to Australia had just been rejected.
On top of that, I had completed the express entry application to Canada and had been in the pool for 10 months without being invited to apply for Canada permanent residency.
On top of that, I was duped of N1.5m by an agent who told me he could get me a work permit, a job, accommodation in Canada and Canada visas for all my family members.
As if that was not enough, I had just been passed up for promotion at my office. I had been looking forward to this promotion because things were getting hard financially for me and my family.
The price of everything was skyrocketing and my income was at a standstill. Even my wife who used to support financially was now sitting at home because she was laid off from her work a few months ago.
I was angry!
At myself. At my employer. At the Government. At the president. At my parents. At the Australian government and especially at the Canadian government.
I was just angry!!
My heart had been set on migrating to Canada for several months now. In fact, I cannot understand why I wasted so much time in starting the immigration process.
The year before, there was no express entry and I know a few people that were able to migrate then…
But I felt that things would get better in Nigeria.
Afterall, my wife and I both had good jobs and we were doing fairly well. I thought, migrating abroad was okay but why the rush?
9 months after, my wife had lost her job, the economy had dived and I was being passed over for promotion. What about the insecurity in the country? A distant cousin of mine who lives in the north was recently murdered in cold blood right in his own home!
The health system? Let’s not even go there. A colleague of mine who had a simple fibroid surgery lost her life simply because the nurse on duty forgot to transfuse blood after the surgery……such carelessness!
I had to leave the country…..NOW!

Canada, here I come!

Yes, Canada is not heaven! But at least, I will not have Boko Haram breathing down my neck and I hear the healthcare system is top notch. What about the free education for my children until 18 years old, with the government still paying them a monthly stipend o…
It was a no brainer!
I decided to make inquiries on how I could immigrate to Canada….
And that was when my nightmare started.
Remember I mentioned the agent that had duped me of N1.5m promising to help me and my family migrate to Canada? That experience almost ruined me!
I was beyond devastated! This was my almost all my life savings gone down the drain…just like that!!
I was faced with the harsh reality of watching my family go through the unneeded pains of hardship.
What a pathetic situation!
At this point, I was desperate for a solution. I was tired of being in a country where nothing worked!
I was in depression for about 3 months!!
I couldn’t face myself, talkless of facing the world.
So trust me when I say I understand what it means…
To be duped by unscrupulous agents that prey on peoples desperation to travel..
To desire to give your family a better life in a new country and yet not know how to go about it successfully...
To be frustrated with life itself...
But guess what?
After several months of tears, pain and failures….
On a beautiful August day two years ago, I finally left the shores of Nigeria to Canada with my family. I was 40 years, 6 months and 3 weeks old when I left.…..
I am here to encourage and assure you that you can still relocate to Canada, no matter how old you are.
You can take your life in your hands and create the reality you want for yourselves and your loved ones.
How was I able to finally relocate to Canada after so many failed attempts?
I will tell you…and I need you to listen attentively
My story is bound to shock you like it has done many others who have heard my story.
My breakthrough came from a simple WhatsApp call from my friend
Unbelievable, right?
Here’s what happened……
I have put everything that happened and how I was able to relocate to Canada at 40+ years despite my previous failed attempts.
You want to see it?
Amazing! Simply connect with me by clicking here and I will send you the video.
Trust me, you need to drop everything and get access to that video NOW!
The Canadian immigration policies are changing so constantly….

China and India have a seat when it comes to international matters. African countries still don't

The rest of your comment reiterates the points I made in my previous comment. People in other countries don't even know us that well. Who is to blame? How come we know about white nations so well? It's really up to us to build a strong reputation and make a good name for ourselves

You will have to integrate into a new culture, which could be a rude awakening for many, hence, the term "Culture shock".

For me the biggest con is starting afresh. It took me a while to make up my mind because of that about relocating to Canada because of that, but thank God I did. I got my license in about a year and half and now I'm practicing as a pharmacist.

The other issues people complain of are mostly personal. You can overcome loneliness if you are ready to socialize and make new friends.

Weather is bearable, just 2 months of bad weather (depending on province)

Hey bro, I'm a pharmacist.
Can you enlighten me on the processes it took for you to get licensed over there ?
The exams, internship and all??

Sure. It varies from province to province. No matter the province, you have to write 3 PEBC exams, evaluating, MCQ and OSCE. After passing those, then you follow the provincial steps.
In ontario, if you pass all exams at one attempt, you go ahead with PACE ( a form of internship) the Jurisprudence.
Should take about a year and half to 2 years

Alright. Thanks.
One last question, do they differentiate between PharmD and B.PHARM degrees?
Also, are the exams fully clinically related questions or do they also examine industrial pharmacy knowledge (Pharm/Med chem, Pharnaceutucs, etc)?
As men of honour....

Mostly clinical. The first exam, EE test a bit of everything but the 2nd and 3rd are purely clinical.
There is a slight differentiation between Bpharm and PharmD. You cant work in hospital without a pharmD.
Although after getting licensed, you can get a pharmD, takes about a year

Racism is subtle .... it is staring you in the face but you can't see it.... as in they like to stand in the bus ... not that they don't want to sit near to Blacks. Are you saying if the bus is empty when they come aboard they wouldn't sit? ... or have you ever seen empty seats but they chose to stand? I'm sure you saw a Black person sat next to a Wbite and the White promptly stood up .... the position he loves.
White girls have mad love for the Black guys ... how you figure? Even f4om wayyyy backduring slavery they had the same mad love for their Black slaves .... try to figure out why they did. How many of these madly in love Wbite girls ever once invited the Black guys to meet their family?... not saying all Whites are "racists" .... but not introducing you to their friends and families like normal friends do should tell you something. Racism is alive and well.... but subtle. Ukraine..... UK ..... not in the EU .... US ... not in the EU .... neither had nothing to do with the war and refugee crisis .... but both are willing to accept 100 000 refugees each. Why? Both were directly involved in Iraq ... in Libya ... etc... causing a refugee crisis .... how many did they take in? If Ukranians were non Whites ... we wouldn't be hearing any if this. Subtle racism..... preservation of breeding stock.

Cons:
1) No cutting of corners except you want Nigerians to read about you in Newspapers.
2) Bills are crazy. However, if you are hardworking, you will care for your needs and also save and invest.
3) loneliness and if you are not disciplined, you may start or join what you would normally not join in Naija.
4) You are not in your father's country, so expect to be treated as if you are not good enough. People call it racism.

I left Nigeria 23rd September 2020 to Spain, and my flight was 'Air France' so I landed in Paris airport.

I boarded Flix Bus going to Spain, inside the bus was a white man and a woman seated by my right side, and a group of Indians seated in front of me.

I noticed that the white people don't like seating next to black fortunately we are seated according to the numbers on the ticket, so they has no choice.

We had several stop by during the journey, the only thing that unit both of us was cigarettes.

You can ask a white person for cigarette, they are not stingy.

In Spain, you are not attended very well if you don't know Spanish and worst of it all if your black.

You can be walking towards a white person to ask for a direction, they'll begin to walk faster away from you cry
. Mainland Europe are very racist

For me the downside was loneliness , away from family, expensive, overly efficient. The plus side was that I learnt how to cook, I learnt to be prudent & financially disciplined, independent, visited many countries as travelling isn’t a luxury and learnt new skills.
Efficiency means you have to be on time , you have to meet deadlines.
When I moved to nigeria for nysc/work in 2015 I felt like the average Nigerian man was financially reckless. A colleague told me when his rent is due he transfers whatever he has to his landlord and I found that strange . Failure to meet contractual agreements in the west is a big red flag and can affect your credit rating. Also noticed people

Are you an Igbo?If yes, All you need to do is when you arrive in any country excludes north Korea and Afghanistan. Just tell your taxi driver or your hotel receptionist to show you Nigeria community, when you get to Nigerian community, ask any Nigerian or any African immigrants to direct you to Igbo dominated area. When you locate the igbos and mingle with them then you will know that asking this kind of question on nairaland is useless and a total waste of time.

. I would like to share tips with you guys which I think you will find very helpful if you decide to move to Ireland (where I am based) or to a different country abroad… please keep reading
Listed below are the tips or things I think everyone should consider before they decide to move to Ireland or a different country abroad…

1. Research: the importance of proper research cannot be over emphasized and research is the first thing I chose because this is the stage where you start to think about the school (university, college or institute of technology) you would like to attend, know the course you would like to study and you also want to know if the school is credible and if it is a globally recognised school and all these information can be found on the schools website or if you think that the website is confusing put a call across to the school and get the information you need or better still google the information that you are looking for and I’m sure something will come up.

2. Budget: The amount of money you have set aside for things like tuition, accommodation, transportation and more. Budgeting is important because it allows you to stay within your estimated cost and not to go over it based on the amount of money that you have and the amount of money that you have set aside. You can easily create a budget via excel, Microsoft word or better still the note pad that is on your phone is also a good place to start.

3. Cost of living: it is important to know what the cost of living is like in the country you plan on relocating to. The price varies per counties and cities, so you want to know what it will cost you to live in that city, either school accommodation or off campus accommodation knowing the cost is important and you can also factor that into your budget.

4. Accommodation: when it comes to getting the right accommodation, sometimes you get the best and sometimes you do not. You can start searching for accommodation before going to the country you are moving to. You can google the country you are going to and try to find something that is close to school because this saves you the cost of transportation. And if you do not get an accommodation in time before you resume, you can book a hotel or an Airbnb while you are still searching for your accommodation and always check the school website properly for the section on accommodation

What I experienced my first few months was feeling homesick, strict laws like you can't even take a piss under a tree and getting stopped by police while driving like everyday,a little bit of racism which I always overcome and bash the offender, even beat up someone sef on this but he didn't press charges.
But eventually it gets better. And yeah it sucks not seeing a lot of your people everyday

I disagree Sir. You can file for bankruptcy and rebuild it. Trump had filed bankruptcy thrice. As long as you do not commit murder, child porn etc you can go jail and still pick your life up. Nigeria has more strict law when compare to US. You rob someone with a gun in Nigeria, you get life and rob someone in US, as long as you did not kill the victim, you get 5 year
