I don't know why it's people with nothing to contribute that makes the loudest noise. Keep quiet, no. Say something useful, no. What kind of thing is this? 8 Likes |

BabsO2: Two days of TRANSCORP trading gone post report release. Watching Mr Market's first 5 days public Judgement. Looks like most of the sell off even took place weeks before the results was made public. |

pizapato: Not impossible Looking at the price trend of Transcorp. The Price went up the whole of February. With a peak of N1.34 during the day of Thursday the 24th. As if the word was oozing out that a good result has been baked. Could crystal ball gazers using TA with or without connection to stock-trade execution systems spot this apart from those acting on any spills from internal accountants and external auditors. But by Monday the 28th of February the price started going down. The board meeting that was to hold the next day 1st of March was cancelled. The public were notified I guess at the close of business on Tuesday that the board meeting was cancelled. But somehow the price even started dropping a day ahead of this notification to the public. The price continued it's downward journey till Friday the 25th of March with a closing price of N1.07. The public got the results and dividend announcement after the close of business of this Friday the 25th of March. For Transcorp, seems some people acted on the good results that was not yet released to the public that they got wind of using TA or whatever. And also acted to exit on the poor dividend payout proposed by management somehow ahead of notification to the public. For Total perhaps some have got wind of not too good results or are just speculating using TA etc. 1 Like 1 Share |

BabsO2:Total have since released unaudited result which was quite fantastic. 711% increase in profit after tax. With eps moving from 6naira to 49naira. Its hard to tell why they are leaving. Something tells me its the foreign investors leaving after the terrorist attack on rail stations, airports etc and nature of things in the country. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Do not buy or sell any share on NGX or any other exchange, because someone you think knows better recommended it. The true analysts are just humans like you. They look out for trends and predict based on it while others study the financial statements and economic outlook. Even more, the self acclaimed analysts do none of these. they accumulate a stock pile of posts with recommendations on all the stock in the exchange, so they can fall back on them and say "I recommended it before' later. Get out of your ignorance. Study the same trends. Study the Financial statements. Come to your conclusions. Buy that stock because you have a reason to. That's called due diligence. Even when they crowd dislikes the stock, if you see a reason to get it, buy it! When the tide turns green, your reason will justify your efforts. If the tide goes against you, always remember your reason for buying and that will help you get through the reds. Shalom 8 Likes |

By the way, I see a pattern reoccurring in UBA. I don't know where it will fall to but that stock will test supports soon. DO NO BUY IT AT CURRENT PRICE! That's a fluke. If you sort orders by price, you will see the wedge holding supporting the stock from falling. That's obviously a market maker and not a true bid. Saw same happen last year (I wonder why they don't bring new tricks every year) Once that wedge is taken off, it will fall like others. MIGHT trade as low as N6.5 or less but no guarantees. Do your due diligence and have a reason for buying. 4 Likes |

gbengafaro1986: If you're ok with locking in 13.5% in dividends, then lock in with Zenith right. Personally, I am ok with 11-13% from Zenith/GT. If it goes lower after my purchase, that will motivate me to buy more to lock in even higher rate of return. 2 Likes |

Curry30: Same here, Meristem is more than a Stockbroking firm. They are a partner in wealth creation. I got a loan from Meristem Finance Limited less than 72 hours after I moved my account to them, the loan was used to renovate a property and the rental income will be used to liquidate the loan. At 18% per annum 4 Likes 1 Share |

Curry30: You see why I am tempted to say they only work with clients who have huge funds with them. I bought my 1st set of shares with Meristem 7 years ago. One of them is UBA. I have have not collected any UBA dividend for these years. In 2019 I started complaining via emails, filled e-mandates forms many times. Nothing changed. They sometimes forget about my email, till I send a reminder. I bought Diamond Bank in 2018. When Access Bank acquired Diamond, I was to get 10k cash and my stocks converted to Access bank's. Till today I have not seen the cash and didn't get any explanation except I should submit e-mandate form that I already did. I only recently got my Access dividends of past years few weeks ago. You see? Our experiences are as wide apart as the North and South poles 1 Like |

Curiouscity: Note that anything that has to do with dividend is between the registrars, the company and the investor. The only time your stockbroker is involved is when you decide to get your signature specimen to the registrar through them completing a transfer form which the broker will sent to cscs on your behalf and cscs in turn will send to the registrars involved before you can send your mandate to the registrar. Payment of dividend is not dependent on the stockbroker you bought your stock with. However, some Brokers will take up the services of helping clients recover unclaimed dividend- that is additional service and usually with a cost. Please note I'm not making case for meristem, neither do I work there. I'm just giving what is obtainable as per usual practice in the industry. 5 Likes |
