Most of the time when buyers contact me through whois, my strategy is to give them discount which will equate to the marketplace commission if the domain had sold on the marketplace.
The last guy that contacted me, I gave him a 20% off which should have been the commission if the domain got sold on afternic because he wanted to buy from godaddy.
He trusted me enough and he paid me directly in B. TC. I released the domain to him after receiving the payment in my wallet.
It is a win-win for both parties because I still have the normal amount I would have gotten if the domain got sold via godaddy / Afternic.
This whois protection thing is just a personal thing and it shouldn't be taken as a general rule. Maybe When I start investing in super-premium names, I would want to turn on the whois atleast for security purpose and to conceal my identity. But with the caliber of names I have now, I am comfortable without privacy protection

With Epik, I see some of my domains having up to 9, 12, 11, 6 whois lookups... would you advice that I remove privacy from my whois contact so that those searchers can see my contact and reach out to me?

If you're reaching out to end-users with a US number included on ur signature regarding a domain name, I don't think it's advisable to unlock privacy.

It's better to unlock privacy for names you ain't outbounding for.

Big boss, the main reason for turning privacy on is to protect someone's identity. If you are less concerned about your identity and personal info being in the public space, you can turn off the privacy on such domains. I strongly believe some of those searching whois for those names are interested buyers who may like to reach out to you.
Personally, not using privacy has done more good than harm and has led to more direct sales for me despite using my real identity as a Nigerian.

I don't seem to understand your question well but if all I have is $600, I am only going to buy domains from the drops (deleted domains). This should give me approximately about 60 domains or more. I won't attempt buying from Closeout or auctions with $600.
When I start making sales, I can then reinvest and scale-up.
