With due respect sir, it seems you have much information about UPDC REIT, do you still think that there is future in the company? I'm heavy in it and not equally happy with the dividend payout.
Lol...
With due respect ma (I'm assuming you're a "ma" from your moniker), I am not an insider oh. I'm just an investor that did his due diligence...

If you look at updc reit results over the last 5 years, you'll see that this isn't the first time they are having a loss or disappointing with their dividend so the risk of this happening again (like it has done) should have been foreseen...

The most important thing is to look at their numbers very closely to figure out why they declared a loss. Is the loss due to a failing business? Or is it an accounting loss? Are there prospects for the future? What are the fund managers saying about their future plans?

Answers to all the above questions will help you decide if the ship is worth sticking with or bailing out... I am also heavy here but rather than feeling disappointed, I'm excited at the prospects of increasing my holdings on the cheap...

Look at the book value per share of the company and then look at the share price... Even if some of their asset value is inflated, you can discount the book value per share by 50% (which is outrageous) and still be buying the company at a discount at present price not to talk about the giveaway prices that it is heading to...

Let the bleeding continue for it is not unto death... Some short term pain is worth enduring for long term gain...

This is not investing advice... I just said a few things the way I see them besides the level of my patience is different from yours so everyone should see things in the light of their own circumstances...

I forgive you already. ...I did say so in that post and honestly, I have.
I didn't take it to heart... I mean, who am I?

I try to live a grudge-free life so I can FOCUS on the more pivotal things.
Those who know me will most probably tell you of a guy who is blunt enough to say it there and then, but also quick to leave everything on the table and give peace a chance.

Without making reference to you, I like to say it as it is. I try to be forthright and lead with honesty and sincerity of purpose in my dealings with people... but I am NOT perfect.

By the way, those words of ecomiums though. wink cheesy
...reading through them, I feel like I don't deserve them.
Maybe you and other great minds here do!

Regards
What are you forgiving me about brother?
How long would it take me to convince you that you have not the only stock pick/finance expert posting articles here, that my post was generally directed to those Ogas as a joke? You are one of them, no doubt; but i wonder why you're still insisting that the joke was specifically directed at you? Members here can see this obvious scenario. Tens of real or imagined experts post what we at times regard as epistles here. Why should such a joke be directed at only you..........if you were not mentioned?
Please be a little bit flexible and take things easy. And please take me for my word. As you're a guru in your own area, so others. Let us learn to take little jokes and apologies with magnanimity. Once again, i apologise to all the finance experts/leaders in this forum. I always appreciate you people. Only an ingrate and a fool would not. How would this place have been without you? You may wish to recall a few days ago when i passionately appealed to Aunt Mercy to keep posting. Please, let all friends of Loko call him back. We need his contributions. Eventhough, I'm not a jijo follower, i always learn some things from him too. We shouldn't allow one or two persons to successfully execute Loko exit. We should make sure he is back.
However, someone should not be crucified because he jokes aboit some of the recommendations. No one is perfect. Lets loosen up a little here. We don't nees a high tension environment where someone is bound to be crucified for saying something. No one is bigger than life; though we have some very big men here who would bot even say anything. And to many people here, stock trading is just a little "pass-time". Not a do or die affair.
Please forgive me house. I jad to.make myself clear. I didn't single out OGG for jabs.
Once again, my sincere apology to whoever was slighted by my post. I have not really been posting here this days. I just couldn't help cracking the joke. It wasn't a big deal anyway. But if it was a joke gon e too far, AYAM VERY SORRY. E ma binu eyin Oga mi.

It is not yet uhuru for Unilever, they received payment of #2b from the sale of the tea business, this is reason they reported profit.

though the coy is a great one but the dividend to me is like bribe to shareholders

It's well.
Think we've also made comment on the admin expenses and all that......
For Unilever however, they still made profit....only that the Tea Biz helped the financials much more.
Revenue went up.....
Profit of 688M...... against 3.7B loss in 2020.....
We'll begin to see clearly from Q1 2022 anyway......

Serious competition from Asian owned competitors, they have a cheaper cost of production and their products are cheaper.

Unilever and PZ products are premium products in the market, majority of Nigerians are poor. Nigerians don't have brand loyalty, they will shift to the cheaper brands

Exactly, the workers and management own the company just like NGX. The company is creating wealth for the workers and management and not for the Shareholders.

The overhead costs of the Indian and Lebanese owned businesses in that sector are lower.

If you have basic knowledge of business valuation, you can invest for asset play when they are selling at a huge discount and book your profit.

Investing for the long term for sustainable wealth creation is a different ball game, you want to invest in a company that will be growing every year and generating good cash flow for you

Your Linkage cost price can't be up to 0.90k again......if you consider the bonus and dividends declared so far......
At least, for 2020 FYE, a dividend of 0.05k as well as bonus of 2:5 were declared.......factoring these in should have left you with no loss on your investment @CP if I'm right.
In 2019 fye too, I think 1:4 bonus was also declared
You can do some findings and go claim your bonuses/dividends if you haven't done so.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/nairametrics.com/2021/04/22/linkage-assurance-plc-proposes-n500-million-as-final-dividend-for-2020-bonus-issue-on-existing-shares/%3famp=1

It was bought in 2018 so that's 4 years.

I didn't know about the bonus/dividends. Thanks for the pointer, will process them right away.

Can you share the tools you used that signalled a buy for Linkage Assurance at 90k?

They had a decent performance in the first three quarters of 2018. That was what informed my decision to buy.

Now that I know about the bonus/dividends it may not be all that bad as I had thought.

Always better to look at 5 years performance, in terms of earnings, return on equity, earning yield, dividend growth, average PE in the last 5 years, earning growth in 5 years, before you consider a long term position

This is the UCAP chart. And this is a parabolic move.

Parabolic moves don't fade out sideways. Most times it flashes. Most always need around 75% to 90% correction to revert to the mean value.

Boss, I have a strong feeling that the final route to the mean value here may most likely be through the wilderness of bonus issuance.
The management keep tightening the vice on the share price.
Outstanding shares are also conservative and most people holding good chunks have turned it into a reserve stock.
After a bonus issue, profit takers will 'pricecuff' it over to statistical projections.
Just my thoughts.
