I school in akure, all I will tell you is that we don’t have water and constant electricity
So you’ll have to run generator for like 10/24 hrs
And here in akure is it quite expensive.
I’ll advice you to always buy in bulk.
Social life in akure is okay

You guys should show some decency by shutting down this Post. The content here is pure tribalistic. Saying Every Nairaland member is solely responsible for anything that he/she posts or uploads on Nairaland does not stop the government from shutting down your site if this continues. You still moved it to front page? Gosh. It's disgusting.
I didnt see this coming. I opened this thread to gain something but I felt bad seeing knowledgeable people behaving like animals.

@OP Akure is a nice place to stay and relatively peaceful.
North used to be peaceful in the past till muslim terrorists took over the region.

Sorry to say but true the Southwest is fast adopting western cultures... Little buys and girls there openly declare they are gay and it is spreading like wild fire... If you have small children going to mix with other children there just know that the behaviour of your children will drastically change... Your children will become harsh and impatient!
what nonsense talk is this?

You live your life on social media and you think that is reality?

Some people are block heads on this platform

Good evening to every member of this noble forum. Please, I need practical advice or guidance as I will be relocating from Kano to Akure with my family. Your advice, suggestions and shared experiences will be highly appreciated.
The moderator kindly moves this to the front page.

I'd advice you move to osogbo instead, I've lived in both states and I can tell you that the cost of living in Akure is too expensive, foods are very expensive, they hardly have light. Go to osogbo, you'll love the atmosphere, very quiet without gbas gbos, and the light there is better than any state in South West.

Whatever decision you make, I wish you best of luck

I'm not here to argue with you. I just want to point out salient truth to you. That hate is not with Igbo, if so many would have been jailed for hate like Adeyinka Grandson, the Yoruba man. And that those who are quick to shout hate and accuse others of hate are actually some of the most hateful people and selfish people. Feel free to pursue other people such as him. I won't be surprised if your turn up tonnes of your brethren in your quest.

If you want to measure dick i.e contribution of one ethic group vs the other, feel free to open another tread for that. But I guess that particular question has been discussed severally here and in other fora. Google is your friend.
Unless you point out where that was discussed, I'm not aware of that. But you can point it out to me.

Oga no tribe is as selfish as ibos. The reason ain't farfetched. Count the numbers of non-ibos living in your region to the number of ibos living in other regions. If you're not selfish, people would be glad to live in your region. Have you ever wonder why an ibo man is allowed to live in the remotest part of Ekiti without him getting hurt and he's lived all his life there? That's because his host ain't selfish and hateful like his ibo people.

No single tribe can vouch that ibos aren't selfish. Not even ijaws and efiks dem.

Flattino, the same hatred and bitterness that killed your parents, is going to kill you.

Whats going on here; this is getting out hand;(Tribalism) Tufiakwa.

OP needless to ask; Why your relocating; Nigeria is in a very peculiar stage ;at the moment.
Very little options; available ;please visit ;the new location first;then make sure; you get a first hand knowledge of the new town in question; crime =Proximity ;get yourself ;and your family a secured location within ;most likely a gated community.

Good luck

Akure is peaceful but you can't be too sure bro.
There are pockets of violence and robbery too.I can't forget when we had to go commiserate with a family after a robbery incidence. Very sad.

The bolded is 100% correct.

Safety is of the Lord..

Op, you've made the right decision, I'm currently living in Akure.

Akure is one of the best place to stay in south west and make it, forget what the people over there has been insulating, I had my elementary schools in lagos and we build our house in ogun state, I'm saying this for you to understand that, coming to akure might be the best decision so far, consider the cost of living and as well as standard of living in akure to other area.

But I will advice you to be productive, if you don't have anything you're doing, you can't enjoy Akure.

Be good and have a wonderful Sunday.

You're right sir, however in the whole of Nigeria, especially Kaduna that we have almost all the security agent's headquarters, there's still one form of security challenge and the other, however, akure is still a relatively bit fair sir.

Tomek09:

Lagos is already overcrowded. Ondo, Ekiti and Osun are empty and unenterprising.
I disagree with you. If you have the right goods to sell, you can never run down. There are many igbos that are making tones of money in Ondo state, all depends on the goods you sell or the services you render.

Ne here I dey wey one man from east started one small chemist beneath a story building and some years down the line he built three stories building, kept running his chemist there alongside a supper market. Then went ahead to build a story building and a warehouse where he sells meds and built a house for himself.

For the haters it was not organic but if you know how he started you won't be surprised. There is no medication you want that he doesn't sell when it was a small business. The best super markets, chemists, electrical appliances stores and boutiques are owned by them, they run the economy. So what's the excuse again?

It depends on what you have to offer to the community you find yourself.

The Lagos gra gra might be missing, but there is no life you want to live that you can't live if you have your money

I have been here since 2015 i can tell you that akure has its pros and cons.Pros in a way transportation is cheap, its peaceful, the locals are friendly, accomodation is also cheap.
Cons are foodstuff are on the high side, shop owners are not industrious;imagine opening shop as late as 10-11 and closing as early as 6-7,Also no much relaxation spots and good eateries,no much banks either.

The moderator kindly moves this to the front page.

1. Consider your income: are you a salary earner or self-employed. The cost of living is more expensive in the Akure compared to where you are coming from.

2. Do not move with your family immediately - unless you don't have kids yet, and your wife is not working. Spend at least 5 months, to acclimatize.

3. If you are self-employed, then you should consider the lucrativeness of your skills/trade before choosing your location of residence.

True but Kaduna has always been volatile. El-rufai and Buhari na the latest fuel.

Things are quite expensive in Akure(Ondo state) compared to other Southwestern States.

If there'll be change of destination, I'll advise you to consider, oshogbo, Osun State. Things are cheaper with steady power supply

You Nigerias hate yourselves but when 1 of the tribes says they want out, you refuse. Isn't that witchcraft?

I've found out that it's only Yorubas who have never been to Igbo land that say rubbish against Igbos. Ask any Yorubas living in Igbo land and they'll tell you why they've refused to go back to Yoruba land

Someone is seeking for opinions. He wants to take a decision that affects his life and that of his family and all some people could do is to fill the comment spaces with hate speech. If you don't have any suggestions for him is it not better you keep quite? Most you come to nairaland to display your frustration.
People are already tired of the incessant killings in the north, hence people are considering relocating to other parts of the country. You people should please advise him accordingly

Akure is better because of its proximity to kogi and Abuja....so you can easily go and meet your relatives once in while easily..just go there once use like 2-3days to look for a suitable and affordable accomodations for your family, pay the rent lock your house and relocate once and for all
