They gave you everyone grace of time to link up, but some Nigerians are stubborn like goats

Malaria don enter ur brain. Gathering of data is a continuous process and not something the government should put a deadline on and mention any part of the world where such nonsense has happened

You no sabi Nigerians?

Dem go soon start to dey blame Buhari, after deadline was shifted severally.

How do we expect insecurity to be fought effectively, when these unlinked phone lines are left functional?

They should block them all.

That's not even the issue. Bandits have been calling with phone numbers and none of them have been tracked with NIN. So what's the point?

It is why those lines not linked are being blocked, anyone using his line for criminal activities can be traced and no line that is not linked can be used for calls.

Stop deceiving yourself brother. NIN won't increase the security of this country if we don't do the right thing. Some months ago, the FG ordered the Telecos to shut down the network in many towns to curb insecurities, what has been the result from it?

Not doing the right is another different thing entirely, but to tell me that SIM-NIN linking does not have substantial potential to enhancing our security, wouldn't make any sense.

So, you need to understand the direction of my argument before just commenting. I certainly understand that right policies require the right set of attitude and actions to work. For now, SIM-NIN linking is a right framework being put in place. How we leverage it to better security is another issue altogether.

How will it be possible.. this it’s not stopping anything

If you can't contact them how do you then demand for ransom?

Obviously if people like you refuse to link how can anything be done about it security wise?

Do you think if people like you are not registering and linking, its bandits that will register?

And if they dont register and link, how then can NIN be useful?

Is it that most of you don't know that kidnappers call with the phone no of their victims or what?

there is Bvn, TIN, Vin, PVC and what am I even missing sef,

heck even Lasapa cards, why suffer people to pack like sardine to register for NIN, when the simple thing to do is to combine either 2 or 3 up there to cross check details, then issues directive to those that needs update, while contacting those whose Data are correct, then print their P-Nin
the country is making life real tough for us, If you see the crowd of people today trying to do this shit ehn... You would just tire and go home, if u want express u pay 3k, is it easy to have 3k now.

Bandits don't use phones to call each other? What of their informants in town, the people who buy food for them, etc, what are they using?

Try to process things before you talk.

Oga, you mustn't show ignorance in everything. Wetin pass you, pass you.

So, the victim's phone wey the kidnapper wan use no go dey linked? That is the idea.

So long the phone line is linked to a NIN. Tracking efficiency, and by extension, is enhanced.

As for you using your friends linked phone line, that one na una palava. Your friend never know wetin e dey do, except of course, you no dey do crime.

Oga na you where no get sense,
What information did you provide when filling your nin ? .

So if a kidnapper takes a victim nin linked sim to contact someone, what information do you think the line would reveal

Do you think the information on your bvn and nin are any different ??

Pls don't be talking nonsense.

Nin can only help identify the owner of the line , nothing more than identification .

So thinking nin would stop crime is very foolish , it's more for monitoring

me since last year October, the regular excuse is network is down.
I still went there February, still the same excuse.

Right now I'm willing to use someone else's own. Since I can't still get mine.
For those thinking NIN is to stop bandits, stop being foolish,
Kidnappers would still use the victims phone to make the calls .
What happened to bvn , sim registration etc.

But even if we talk from now till tomorrow solution won't still come out.
So let's watch and see

I am just thinking that if the kidnapper use the victim's line to make a call, then the victim's line will be traced. I am not speaking for the Nigerian government but it will be difficult for the bandits to pick up their ransome. Again, it is a policy world wide to have a NIN. In the UK, you can't do anything without it. That is why the first thing to do when you travel to the UK is to register for the National Insurance Number (NIN).

Don't get me wrong. I'm all for NIN linkage with SIM and I've done mine immediately the directive was given. I believe it's a step in the right direction. Your other reasons are also very valid. I'm only saying they negotiate for ransom with their victim's number. And if the police really want to work, they can track their approximate location while receiving their call whether they use their own phone no or the victim's no.

Okay... Even in advance countries with all the registration, they still commit shit, Nigeria needs total over hauling.

Bvn them still commit fraud, with national id they still failed, how is NIN different? Please we need a change.

For the ignorant ones on this thread.
NIN, BVN and SIM Registration all hold the same information.
In nin you fill your personal information , next of kin and you capture your finger print and face .
You provide the same information when registering a new sim and when register for bvn.
Now the reason for this redundancy is that
Sim registration is more influenced by the Telecos,. The network providers are managing this database.
While Bvn Is managed by the CBN
And nin is mangaged by the Government.
Before now, NIN has been in existence, NIN didn't exist because of sim card.

But all of a sudden the government mandates every citizen to link their nin with their phone numbers.

The government just wants to monitor all active network lines in the country independently.
Without relying on information from the telecos .
The government wants to act on their own, without any other party knowing what's up.
The intention for linking NIN is not in the Interest of the public safety.
Don't expect because you linked your NIN to your line, Nigeria would become a safer place, and because I haven't linked mine doesn't mean I'm a criminal.

We are all entitled to our opinions, but for the sake of the ignorant ones, let's always say the truth..
So others can learn.
