Don't get me wrong. I'm all for NIN linkage with SIM and I've done mine immediately the directive was given. I believe it's a step in the right direction. Your other reasons are also very valid. I'm only saying they negotiate for ransom with their victim's number. And if the police really want to work, they can track their approximate location while receiving their call whether they use their own phone no or the victim's no.

You're wasting your time explaining things to these folks. BVN came with all the hypes in the world that it's gonna fight corruption and every single transaction can be traced or tracked. What do we have today?

Also Remita was meant to solve many problems of diverted funds and bla bla.

The bottom line is these policies are not what make things go right. The people in authority only act when they wish to.

The money being paid to bandits don't have serial numbers?

I will be here to remind all of them that NIN hasn't stopped insecurity yet.

I am just thinking that if the kidnapper use the victim's line to make a call, then the victim's line will be traced. I am not speaking for the Nigerian government but it will be difficult for the bandits to pick up their ransome. Again, it is a policy world wide to have a NIN. In the UK, you can't do anything without it. That is why the first thing to do when you travel to the UK is to register for the National Insurance Number (NIN).
Tracking a call got nothing to do with nin. Police have been tracking calls for decades.

That's not even the issue. Bandits have been calling with phone numbers and none of them have been tracked with NIN. So what's the point?
and you think the bandit will also link their number to nin, do they even have NIN to start with.

If the southern part of Nigeria with all her education and knowledge still have a good number of people who haven't link their number to NIN, then what do you think will happen to the North who are the hub for illiteracy and dumb as people

yet there are those who will authors nonsense, if we as a people are serious enough, we all should had called this govt bluff as regards NIN registrations, and see if they will enforced the ban,

this Nin is supposed to be a continuous exercise, not threatening anyhow, cos both the FG and the Telcons stand to lose if we decide to revolt against it

This is what I hate about government zombies, when we start asking about the benefits of a policy they throw tantrums like toddlers.

Let them block everywhere, you have family, customers and workers right? We will see who it will affect.

After everything is done you will show me the number of terrorists caught.

God bless you bro. It's good to know we still have Nigerians that have sense. Those rushing to link cannot see why it is just a ploy to track enemies of the cabal and not enemies of Nigeria.

That is the essence of the block.

They should start blocking all unlinked phone lines.

This will go a long way to enhancing the fight against banditry and criminality.

So bandit cannot steal your phone and use it to make a criminal transaction before you block it. By the time the idiots in the police do their investigation using NIN your family will be located and used to get to you...landing you finally in kirikiri.

With this useless linking they will be able to terminate protests before they start, terrorize people's families, barge into people's privacy...this is the beginning of a full blown police state. A government that cannot stop bandits, insurgents, etc. A government that cannot share COVID palliatives fairly wants to link a number that identifies you to your phone number.

So will FG block all the northern numbers? Because aboki does not give a hoot about NIN and will definitely have a small phone for making and receiving calls. Unless FG wants to do selective blocking. Dey cannot do blanket blocking at all. Telecoms companies will easily fold up because majority of Nigerians are illiterates and do not know what NIN is or what it is for.

With all the sim registration, sim nin linkage, tracking, call log tracking available, what has govt and security agents done with it?
These guys use phone to negotiate ransom every time and nothing happens.
