North Walsham in Norfolk? Are you there for work? You may need to look in Alysham and Norwich instead and travel to work in N. Walsham. It's a very small town and has a lot more older people than families which means people hardly move out. Not impossible, just a much more longer wait for a place.

Yeah I'm coming to work at the Hospital there. I'm a physiotherapist. It's been crazy searching i must say. I may look the Norwich way. 47 mins by train though.

The train is very slow. It stops everywhere on it way to Cromer. You're better off using the bus then driving. In fact, if you can drive straight away. I'd advise you to do that. You'll be driving against traffic as well as most people will be heading into Norwich for work.

Norwich train station is also near the most expensive parts of the city (Golden Triangle). Whereas if you're driving, you'll just take the ring road and head out.

Hi, is it number bond or just 1-20? I noticed that atimes some state schools are a bit laid back and some teachers, when you ask about general progress of your child, they usually give generic response that the child is where he should be. Try to listen to your gut feeling, go through the curriculum for that term and assess your child on that. Teaching here is individualised.

If I could add to this. My daughter is in reception and when she resumed first of March she found the whole curriculum routine very strange. The next week her teacher called to make some observations about her tights and that she struggles to follow instructions. I was very bothered and so I requested that she gives me weekly update on my daughter as she is new in this country and educational system.

Her teacher started a school+home diary where she writes what my daughter does in school and I get to see how she does. She also attached a copy of their timetable. When I saw it I was surprised! They have like 10-13 activities for the day, spend 10-15minutes per activity. Say they start with reading a book, maybe when the story is getting interesting they will now say its time for maths. My daughter will now say she doesn't want to do math she wants to continue with the story reading. And so on.

But I'm glad she has adjusted as that was her achievement for the term, 'A has really improved and now follows instructions very well'. I didn't know when I got here I will have to pay extra attention to her school work.

Most of us didn’t know. Until you get here and realize the system is very very different and mostly more laid back. The good thing is they learn sha, just that you have to keep a close eye.

But firstly, if this has already been addressed, my apologies in advance.
I am completing application for citizenship for my 2kids born before I got ILR
Now, it’s asking for ID document, can I use just birth certificate as an ID document for them? If not, biko, can someone break down the process of getting Nigerian passport for kids again that wouldn’t take forever.

Hey Mama. If you’ve never added them to your application as dependents (hence negating the need for a resident card/BRP) then you should be able to use their birth certificate.

I’ve always applied for my kids passports when we visit Naija but I hear applying here is straightforward as well. Have you checked the website and are having trouble with anything?

No, never added them as dependants so they don’t have BRP

See the attached. It already listed birth certificate and there is this as well which is why I am concerned if birth certificate is enough or not

I have looked at the requirements for Naija passport online, not really a lot but it’s just the waiting time that I am worried about.

I think you have to do passport for them. The earlier you start, the better

Back to your question. My sis loved kipp, she had such a hard time moving het kids out of there. In fact, she considered taking them back after she got them

Their long form birth certificate is all you need as their form of ID

Thank you I appreciate your input. I have registered him with KIPP just that since he is 3 years old he will be in prekindergarten 3 and the hours is just 7:30 am to 11 am . Officially, prekindergarten is usually by 4 years and schools hours for prekindergarten 4 is 7.30 am to 3.45pm but I believe it will still help him even if it’s only for 3 and half hours. I live near wilcrest at Richmond Avenue.

For the school holidays - places where kids eat free.

If I'm not mistaken, to do that, the child must not have an existing visa linked into an existing passport. Once they have the passport of another country even if they haven't travelled out of the UK, that automatically means the visa restrictions of that country applies to them. That's my understanding so you'll need to clarify.

He's 8 now. Used to be resident here, so I already had nhs number and co. Came to have him with visit visa, paid and went back. But we've been coming to the uk for holidays every year since he was born, except during covid, and now we're back as residents (student visa)
