I think that @ LAFARGE WAPCO did well with div payout (ref: N2 total >> N1 interim and final respectively)
However, for those wondering why the company didn't pay more, pls hear this;

In finance terms, there is something called PVGO (present value of growth opportunities)
...a Valuation technique that seeks to investigate whether the RoR (rate of return) a company can generate from an investment opportunity will exceed it's RRoR (required rate of return)
In retrospect, there are profitable project that the coy can invest in to maximize earnings and grow overall value.

A well managed coy is expected to be conservative with it's dividend/cash distribution if and when this plays out. (PVGO in view)
But you would want to see that management is not been wasteful with the cash/asset at it's disposal.
WAPCO fits the bill... (compare the coys CBR, ROIC and CCC in the last 2 yrs)
The coy has been utilizing it's cash base to support ongoing expansion including but not limited to the power plant project at it's subunit ASHAKA cement.

There are quite a lot of positive, but let me stop at this for now.
WAPCO remains my standout pick in the cement sector.
There's a reason the coys OCF/EBIT has consistently printed near 2x since 2018.
...grossly underpriced!
Again, BUY... ACCUMULATE!

NOTE: previous caveat still in place.

Please what's your take on BUA FOODS PLC?
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by onegentleguy: 5:42pm On Apr 06, 2022
onegentleguy:
I look at the financial print of some INSURANCE COMPANIES and there's really no justification to why they're trading at present pegs.
Even with the seeming low apathy towards the sector, some of them should be trading at near N1, and some above.

I have since said that the likes of SOVEREIGN TRUST INS, REGAL INS, MBENEFIT, LINKAGE, VERITAS, WAPIC, ROYALEX, CHI and a few others are broadly underpriced and have no business trading at their current mkt prices.
The 1st 2 have already released a wonderful report.
Rating: Overweight/Overperform

And among the other coys with great unaudited reports so far are...
OKOMU, TOTAL, VITAFOAM, JULIUS BERGER, FIDELITY and.........
Rating: Hold/Overweight

FIDSON also joins the list. And though I believe it operates in a sector that will do well (a lot appears to favour the health sector including the make-up of the 2022 budget), I continue to see a few element that smacks off of some shenanigan in their report.
...I'll wait to see their audited print for a better view.

Elsewhere, NOTORE CHEMICALS, BUA CEMENT, LASACO ASSURANCE and......... are amongst the worst performers I have seen.
The 1st 2 are clearly overpriced! (underweight/underperform rating in view)

On a side note, BUA FOODS appears to be a well managed coy with fine growth propect.
Only problem is with its over leveraged stance, which though could be excused for the coys expansionary growth, limits its near term potential. ...mid to long term could turn up good though.
At the moment, the coys mkt price is still ahead of the combination of risk and reward.
Rating: Overpriced.

NOTE: Most of the just released financials are unaudited, and could sometimes deviate from their audited print when released. ...so it might be helpful to look to extend your margin of safety by given a little more room (discount) for what should otherwise be an appropriate measure of risk premium, where necessary.

DISCLAIMER: NOT to be interpreted as any sought of recommendation. ...the need for due diligence should still take higher precedence ahead of this post.

My advice? Pls follow your instinct.

Selah

Oga Emma, Pls is NAHCO a good buy at current price. I need a secondary opinion on it as I intend to borrow to fund the purchase. My analysis is telling me it is currently overvalued

Folks,

Can anyone point me to a broker that they have successfully used to purchase stock on NASD since I can’t open an account as an individual.

The 3 brokers I use are on the NASD site listed as registered brokers but none of them has been able to execute 1 trade for me yet for no tangible reason. So preference is for a recommendation that has recently worked out.

Thanks!

You want to borrow to buy, you are on another level.

What is your payment plan for the loan, I hope it is not through the capital appreciation of what you want to buy?

Payment will be made in a month from another proceed. It is a mid to long term investment because I noticed they are consistent with dividend payment and frequent bonuses. I need to know if it is a good buy at current price.

JUST SO YOU KNOW...

LAFARGE WAPCO delivered the best growth accross several KEY revenue and earnings line ahead of it's peers. (DANGOTE CEMENT and BUA CEMENT in that order)
...with CCC, AER, JPBM, CGPR, FCF, EM, NPM and NCP all printing appreciable and in some cases remarkable improvement.
Infact, the last 2 witnessed a whooping >6,404bps and near 64,501bps (>645.7%) growth YoY.

Within the sector, the coy also did better at optimizing cost and strengthening it's BS position in the yr under review. (ref: 2020-21)
Elsewhere, the coys (WAPCO') current EV/EBITDA stand rightly describes the best pick amongst fellow P2P sector players given their current market prices.

Yet the last 3 weeks has seen it drop by the highest margin (>23.85%... from circa N27+ to N21.8 @ present)
What better time to key in than now!

Using a mix of valuation model that adopts a highly CONSERVATIVE approach... assuming zero growth in Q1, 2022 and further attaches near 1.5x premium to surrounding risk, I have a FVE of N35.9
...which implies a >64.6% discount from CMP.
Rating now upgraded to: Overweight/Outperform.

BUY... ACCUMULATE!

CAVEAT: The need for due diligence should still take higher precedence ahead of this post.
Great recommendation!
Thanks. I expect it at a lower price though.

Union bank sale already subject matter of litigation.
On a very serious not e, union bank is a listed company on the NSE and by the rules of the exchange such sale in substantial amount of yhe company shares ought to be a subject matter of corporate disclosure. The parties and consideration, including the number of shares should be disclosed like other companies do.
