You have bigger opportunity to become rich if u learn a good skill or run your own business. There is too much competition at the workplace. You find a lot of who have worked for many years without promotion, but no one can deny you that in your own business or if you have a high paying tech skill. Above all be employable.

People are fond of just making this statement. Is the skill free or you need money to acquire it?

If you get the mind go into tech. All the years you spent doing overnight studying nonsense in school would have paid off if you studied for tech roles. Books on tech are available for free online. There are open source/free technologies that you can learn in web development, machine learning, database design and querying, data engineering, data analysis/visualization etc. Plus you can get a remote US, Canada etc jobs that can pay you well. Check out www.turing.com, https://weworkremotely.com/ and https://vanhack.com/ to access remote jobs when you are ready.

Schooling has evolved. Don't go and spend years studying nonsense and expect to land a job quickly. Spend time developing skills that will turn you into a problem solver for both domestic and international employers.

Nobody will pay you to come sit down and look. You need to able to fix problems that earn employers money or help them deliver great products or services ...otherwise you go tey for house!

Any graduate that thinks that after graduation, he or she will work in a big or well paying firm or organization is daydreaming, unless you have the Connection
Na so most of us think am that year. When reality hits you, you'll start thinking with your brain instead of your anus. Even if you get, before month ends, you've already eaten almost your salary and even borrow money from your neighbors.

My advice is simple: Go and learn handwork or trade

Dear undergraduate

Air is a must to survive, but education is not compulsory, There are many illiterate with fat bank account. There are graduates working for illiterates.

My question to you is to chose your priority well, I can't chose for you, why do you want to be educated?. Whatever your choice is do it with all your heart. If moñey is your priority, chase money with all your heart. Don't pursue the two at once,

Education serves a purpose too, gives you knowledge for self reliance, to think for yourself. You can survive anywhere.
When you see an educated man, it is visible.

To be sincere is never roses outa here.
If you're an undergraduate try to learn any skills before you graduate out from school.
Too many competition outa here, not just that the pay is good. A situation were graduates fights so hard for a job of 90k is so bad.

Me I graduated 3yrs ago, served 2019.currently earning between 90k.but I'm working to quit the job to concentrate on building myself towards a bright future.

It’s really in perspective. Some has found the transition easier through influence , hard work, good grade, smartness and position while some have had it so tough due to unfavorable grade, age, lack of influence. But I think Technology is the best way out regardless of what you study and if you are opportune to find your way outside the country, please with all your heart. It’s just lack of investment and opportunities. But school isn’t scam

smiley I have completed Bsc, Msc and PhD at the age of 28 but I will never advice you to waste your time venturing into lecturing. Use all the energy you have to travel overseas for your post graduate. I was deceived into believing Nigeria will be better but it didn't get better. It is Nothing but slavery.

I asked an IT student in my office what business she’ll go into if I gifted her 200k, she said she’ll invest in herself, get shoes, clothes and hair.

I was shocked at her answer and it’s reflective of the thought pattern of most school goers and recent graduates, they expect a magical job is waiting for them out there.

There are no jobs, start a business (no matter how small) and grow it

To all the undergraduate and those serving the country right now, you need to do the following if you really want to make it in this country. I wish someone has told me about this when I was still an undergraduate.

1. Graduating with first class does not guarantee you success. However, you need good grade to secure a high paying job.

2. Start planning for your future right now. Whatever business you wish to venture, start learning about it from someone that has succeeded in the business line.

3. Passion that does not guarantee a high income is a capital NO. You might not understand this right now until you marry and start having kids. Everything will become clearer to you.

4. Having a single source of income is very bad. Just imagine, what will happen if you loose your job?

5. It is easier to save money for your project when you are still under your parents' roof. My dear friend, don't get carried away by worldly things. When you make it, you will enjoy everything about life as you grow older.

6. There is no shame in learning from an artisan that is not as educated as you. Your primary aim is to learn and use your head as an educated fellow to brand yourself.

7. Keep the advice and meditate over it.

I wish you success in your endeavours.
Cheers to a bright future

Chai

We have only very few graduates in Nigeria.

Once your mouth is smooth to speak English, people see you as educated and a graduate..but such people are ignorant of the fact that English is just a language.

Ask the so-called graduates around you to perform what they studied in school and you'll be amazed at their uselessness. So which graduates are we talking about?

We barely have good schools in Nigeria. And the very few good ones we have are extraordinarily expensive.

In Macaroni's voice, what's going on here?
Read all the inputs. Education is not enough, learn trade.
However, be ready to be resilient.
Money doesn't come easy. Especially if you are from a poor home.
Be humble cos life ll humble you.
