U guys should say who arteta should go for.
Give 3 options each on a limited budget of 180M.
Don't forget we need
2CF
1RWF
1 Works class MF
1 LB
At least.

Arteta has some limited game skills but remember there is a budget.
I preferred Conte to arsenal but since arteta is here let's hope he improves per season
Depressing to read City are closing in on Cucurella of Brighton. Very highly spirited player. Chai I hate City, they are just a bully

My Ratings for the season

Goalkeepers
Ramsdale (7.5) - Few eyebrows were raised when he was signed. Quickly became fans' favourite with his commanding displays such as great saves and good passing abilities. Great signing.

Leno (5.5) - Had the worst possible start any goalkeeper will dread by conceding 9 goals in his first 3 matches though with not so good back 4. Usurp by Ramsdale after that but he put on a good display against Aston villa. Capable back up

Defenders

Gabriel (7.5) - Arguably Arsenal's best defender of the season. Vocal enough and his passes was essential in arsenal's buildup from the back. Put in a few important goals for arsenal in the fight for top 4

White (6.5) - Able Partner to Gabriel. His passes was also important to arsenal's buildup from back. Seems to go about his work calmly.

Tierney (6.5) - Injuries affected his availability this season. Seems to give his all when playing as he's strong defensively as well as attacking wise. Hopefully a fitter KT next season

Tomiyasu (7.0) - Strong performances from the very first time he donned the club's color. Difficult to beat aerially or defensively. He's also good going forward. Seems to drop a bit of form after his long time out but that won't discredit his strong showings before his injury

Cedric (6.5) - A very good deputy to Tomiyasu during the latter's absence. Played his part well in ensuring arsenal fight for top4 as Tomi wasn't keenly felt.

Tavarez (5.5) - Very strong performances during the first half of season during Tierney's absence. Made fans momentarily forgot how good KT was. Second half of the season was a complete opposite. He seemed short of confidence, positionally poor and bad defensively.

Holding (6.5) - Did his perfectly as an impact sub when seeing out games. Arsenal tend to improve defensively to see out a win with Holding's introduction. Had a dismal showing against Tottenham but that's the only blemish for him this season

Midfielders

Partey (8.5) (POTY) - The heartbeat of arsenal's Midfield and attack. Started slowly but quickly peaked at the right time of arsenal's season. Consistent world class displays for months as a lone DM made arsenal a genuine contender for the top4 battle. Season-ending Injury derailed his impressive campaign as well as arsenal's.

Xhaka (7.0) - Excellent showing from Granit in his new found advanced position. Less mistakes and he kept things ticking. Best season for him in an Arsenal's shirt

Odegaard (7.5) - A rather hit and miss season for him. World class for a couple of weeks, disappear/normal another couple of weeks. Good thing is that his good days was more than his bad. Need improvement in games that goes very physical as that was what was missing in the two crucial games that made us lose out on top 4.

Lokonga (6.0) - EPL seemed to physical and advanced for him presently. Slow in thoughts and execution but a very tidy player. Not physical or technical enough to impose himself in games.

Elneny (7.0) - Seemed to revive arsenal's season when all hope seems lost with his commanding displays starting from Chelsea's game. One of the brightest players after Partey absence. Arsenal faltered towards the end of the season, but he'll be one of those who can hold their heads high.

Attackers

Saka (8.0) - Arsenal's brightest player and attacker from the very first minute. Most consistent player in terms of performance and fitness. Good decision making as well as being strong physically(not easily bullied). His goal increase this season sums up the improvement he's had over the years. A gem!

Lacazette (6.0) - Started brightly during the first half of the season we were grinding out wins. Gave a further improved display during the exile and eventual sale of Auba as he was giving assists and makes the attack flow. Then it went downhill from there. Seems to lose confidence and it showed in his game and he also tends to hide from goalscoring opportunities

Smith Rowe (7.0) - The king during first half of arsenal's season. Came up with important and match winning goals as arsenal looked for match consistency. Towards the 2nd half of the season, he wasn't that influential as the first half but he still gave his best.

Martinelli (6.5) - Missed the early campaign due to injury as his season started in mid November. Exciting and direct. He brought explosiveness to arsenal's attack as well as workrate.

Nketiah (7.0) - five goals in 8 starts tells one the impact Eddie had two the end of season. Brought life, energy, workrate and directness in arsenal's attack as arsenal looked to secure top 4.

Pepe (4.5) - Wasn't featured mostly in the campaign but whenever he does, he's largely inconsistent. Seems to make simple things difficult and most times he's not in sync with his teammates.

Coach

Arteta (7.0) - Splendid and more dominant displays and performances from previous seasons. In-game tactics needs to be improved on as well as discipline (2nd team with the most red cards).

Lyon have offered Lacazette favourable terms
Nketiah is close to a decision
 Leno is close to leaving
 Torreira deal close to exit
Guendouzi has agreed to stay at Marseille but the French FA still have a ban on OM transfers . It comes down to the contract.
Saliba told to report to Pre - Season
 Mavropanos Deal agreed ( €7 Euro )
 Maitland-Niles available for transfer
 Mari Available for transfer
Bellerin to take a cut in wages in an effort to secure a transfer
Pepe available for £20 Mill ( Atletico Madrid interest)

What more do we need?

Two CF even if Nketia stays
One or Two more Quality DM since Elneny is staying and AMN is leaving (Lokonga should go on loan)
One more AM if Pepe leaves, we need reliable backups in case of injury
One good LB, Tavare is still not reliable

Baba, you know I always look forward to reading your end of season player analysis.

Goalkeepers: I thought you were generous by .5 for Ramsdale. He had a great start to the season but faded and struggled to finish the season on a high, the bulk of the 1st team struggled to finish the season anyways. But yes, overall a great signing for us, I hope he continues to improve.

Defenders: Outside of Tierney and the Tasmanian devil, I absolutely agree with your ratings. Tierney was poor in my opinion this season, worse than last season. Even when he was healthy, he was poor, especially on defense. He lacked pace and positional awareness which cost us some cards, fouls in dangerous areas and goals. I don't think he is reliable enough to help us; doesn't mean he is not a good player but his injury records may hamper any chance of long term growth/ development for us. It is so bad that we are now scouting for his replacement or should I say a capable competition since what Tavarez is playing is not considered football in my books.

Midfielders: I thought you captured this area of the pitch perfectly. If I was to knit pick, it would be Lokonga getting a 6.0 and Xhaka a 7.5 but again, that would be me knit picking. Sambi is 23, next season will be very important for his development. He has a ton of deficit, especially with his decision making and passing technique but that comes with time. Midfield players are sometimes late bloomers but they are supposed to show you glimpses between 23-25.

Awaiting you forward analysis.. Abeg do well to skip Pepe grin grin

Excellent analysis as always

If Nketiah stays, I think we need one more CF not two in my opinion. Depending on how Balogun grows, he can be 3rd back up

We need Cm and DM (loan Sambi to a lower club or keep him if we can't get those two).

ESR will deputise for Odegaard since him and Saka also have an understanding.

One winger and sell Pepe. We need someone who can ease the burden on Saka.

Depending on the funds available

One Cm and Dm to rival Xhaka and can fill in for Partey

One Striker (first choice)

One left Winger for easing of Saka. Also if Martinelli gets injured, Saka can play left side and the winger can play right.

Buy - CF, DM , Cm, winger.
Sell/loan - Sambi, Pepe

funds that that remains, if any, we can get a competent Lb. If not, keep tavarez

I thought you were fair in capturing this position as well.

Thank you for shinning some light on Saka's fitness because I sometimes feel it is so underrated or for a lack of better word, not talked about as much. This kid played all 38 EPL games this season. I have expressed serious concerns about his heavy usage at a young age. He had spells where you could tell he was totally burned out but he really pushed himself. He also showed us the massive improvement in his shooting/ finishing resulting in more goals, something you have clamored from him. I was happy to see him at the Celtics v Miami game at the TD Garden because it tells me he is now on full vacation mode.

We have to do something about ESR next season. He needs consistent playing time to avoid stagnation or worsestill, regression. Depending on what we do during the transfer window, he will need some playing time. He did not do himself any favors with some of his displays but again, that comes with time and age.

As for Pepe, I will keep my thoughts to myself because that man fall my hand.

Coaching: 7.0? hmmmmmmm....While my position about Arteta is very clear and unwavering, I will give him a hand for getting us back to Europe. Man is learning on the job, he has just as much to prove as the players he is coaching and I will leave it at that.

All in all, I thought we missed a great chance to get back in the UCL which may be difficult to come by anytime soon, especially if United and Chelsea get their acts together.

Mancity don win league be that.
Haaland and cucurella has made that team complete

Till further notice, the top 6 is now divided into two

Title Contenders-Liverpool and Man City

Outsiders-Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham, Man U/Extra team.

I don't think any of Outsiders can break ranks as it seems.

Thanks for your analysis and input too. You really touched on all these aspects well. I really wanted to talk much more especially about ESR and Saka but I don't want the writeups to be too much thereby boring the readers.

I'm a believer for Saka and I love his improvements. And truly, we haven't talked about his fitness alot, that's one key area I love about him. His availability is always 2nd to none. You've talked about Rashford and Owen peaking early due to burnouts and I agree with you. I just hope Arteta takes care of this guy and not over use him due to his availability reason why I'm always hoping for a signing to ease the pressure off him.

As for ESR, I still see him as an Am(a different type to Odegaard) that needs to be harnessed. He is someone that can give us that goals from Midfield and I'll never forget his understanding with Saka last year. Even though he has more goals this season, I still feel he wasn't harnessed enough.

I understand your position on Arteta and I always respect it. Maybe the rating might be generous from my ends but seeing our style of play, togetherness and improvement the team had compared to last few years, I'm excited (even though I know we're still far off). I feel I put all that in the rating when assessing him. I'm sad we missed out on top4 cos this was a golden opportunity but aside his in-game management when losing, I always have optimism on our first team winning. Something that's missing personally for me under Emery and Wenger last years.

Thanks for your inputs.

You are generous with ratings
Arteta is 6/10
Over all the lads tried i wanted to do rating too but some of the season memories is just vexing me especially losing out on ucl
Very hard to forget
Lol... Maybe I was really generous about this Arteta rating sha grin grin

As for the bolded, I initially wanted to give the rating a day after the Everton's match but I was still angry about the loss of top 4 slot reason why I didn't, so that it won't affect my ratings emotionally. I just have to calm down, so yeah, I understand you perfectly grin

To a large extent I agree with you.... If there is any difference on any, it will not be more than +/- 0.5

If not for Tomi and Partey injuries, I am sure we would have ended top Top 4, but notwithstanding I am glad we are back in Europe, so I am seriously looking forward to next season and hoping we get a prolific Striker.

You did a good job but I will make some exceptions.

Tavares is the worst player to wear our jersey, I would give him 4.0, that's since Pepe is 4.5.

Also Lokonga will take 4.5 as he just as Pepe didn't cover well for their main men.

Well done

I can accept compromise in other departments, but we really need two quality CFs addition bro. We must have 3 good strikers to be comfortable... Auba has left, Laca is following... so we must get their replacement.

We saw how injuries robbed us of Top 4, because of lack of quality replacement. Reason M.City will still dominate is because their bench as almost as good as those on the field. Besides we have more matches to play this season... We need a full good squad.

2 quality CFs, Youri Tielemans or another equally good or better midfielder as a minimum.
I can accept compromise of giving Tavarez another chance to prove himself

I thought his first half of the season form will grant him some marks grin
