I just keep wondering why some people hate the US so much.

If America leaves the "world leader" position today, the new leader may be a real terror. To lead isnt easy. Yes, the US has its shortcomings, but not at bad as many of you are portraying it.

Most of those people bittered have been refused visa many times or banned from the nation. But there are still some who have been refused many times, but are still trying. Really, why the hate towards the US.

If you enter the US legally and attend school there, nothing stops you from making it. The place is filled with opportunities.

Yes, and yes, the US has it's own shortcomings, but the nation is still very ok. And I know that very soon, they will get rid of those senators profiting from sales of guns.

Without the US, we wont really be exposed like this. The US is where many free gifts are directed towards poor nations. Free learning platforms, free this...free that....yet, we keep hating the nation. The US is not the reason Nigeria is a terrible nation.

People criticizing her should travel and see.

When you travel then you will get to realize that getting document is more important than dollars.

You will get to realize the reason why non gay agree to be one even when they are not.

Nigeria police ask for money, advanced countries will kindly ask you. Please can I see your ID?

I think anyone above 25yrs and above, with high responsibility should not travel abroad hoping is gonna be better over there.

Reasons:

You can't do anything useful with your life and time without been granted asylum recognition.

Getting asylum recognition to be able to integrate into the society takes between 1 to infinity years. Depending on your story.

You can do illegal jobs but that's like living from hand to mouth, never enough to pay bills, talk of taking care of your self or sending home. Do drug's or fraud or any form of criminal act then you have the rest of your life to regret because before you climb that ladder of becoming the next Pablo Escobar or hush, remember you have a space in the prison yard and a special jet waiting to deport you the moment you finish doing your time and if you don't get deported only miracle will help you succeeded.

Is better to travel younger if you intend staying for long.

Apply for asylum,
Get ready to prove that you need protection as an asylum seeker unable to prove it, you will be recognized as an economic immigrant and your welcome is over.
It will take you till God knows when to keep paying lawyers to fight for your document.

The best way to avoid all this stress and frustration is to face Nigeria because the moment you bord that plane and leave Africa continent and don't return in 6months, the shame, criticism, sadness and failure will never let you return, no matter how hard it is, shame if not making will never let you return home.

People in Nigeria should also take note of this, not that those abroad Don't want to return but they are afraid that you will gossip, criticize, judge and blem them for their failures. Many wish they could return but the moment they remember that we at home will shame them they prefer to keep trying rather than face your criticism like many of us here have done to the little girl.

They don't want to return is not because of 24hrs electricity, not because of dollars, not because of good life because is hard to have one, not because they see chances but because they think they have failed.

This is to the extent that you know it and I won't fault you for it.

I am just a month old in the US and I can say I know better than you submitted above already.

It's good to be smartly outgoing, sociable, and get an ear to the ground. That's how you get to know what's happening around you, all legally illegal and otherwise...

I won't advise anyone to take your advice above.

Keep deceiving yourself. Tinubu started in Chicago.. and still has friends and families here.
Peter Obi got rich with business deals his company formed with US companies like Heinz, Kraft, Wrangler, Anheizer Busch etal
Osibanjo kid attended school here. Dangote used to live in ATL.. His transport division used to powered by US International and Freightliner..
Tony Elumelu has Heirs Holdings Business in US.
All our Naija elite/politrickisns have US connect..
keep clapping for them while they move businesses and connect to US

Most Americans are not wealthy, far from it. Most are 2 pay checks away from homelessness.

Yours is the kind of senseless post that I'm accustomed to seeing from Nigerians.

Tony Elumelu and Tinubu do their business in Nigeria, not the States.

And why are you talking about American companies without thinking on how to build your own?

What things? Minimum wage in Chicago is $15/hr while in Naija is $45/month. What u make in 3hrs in Chicago is what you make in a month in Naija.
Also, if you’re traveling to hustle dont go with ur whole family.. let the man go first, get settled and then bring the whole family.

Easier said than done.

What life can you get with $15/hr job? You still will be struggling with that amount.

A Nigerian lady, Ajibola Elisabeth Junaid from Oyo State narrates how she migrated with her family members to the United States in search of greener pastures. Her family settled in Chicago, as they were all asylum seekers. It did not take long for her to discover that hardly does the American dream exist for minorities or people of colour.

She described America as a reality of racism, poverty, food insecurity and gun violence.

She is a senior student at Wendell Phillips Academy High School.

Her narration below:

Why didn't you just move back to Nigeria where its better..,
Or you can further try China, Russia or North Korea for greenest pastures.

I hate the fact that ignorant people will come on the web and be quoting the equivalent of how much they make in the US compared to Nigeria. Do you also pay your US rent and bills in Naira?

Everything that girl wrote up there is not a lie, except you want to ignore the truth and choose to attack her. That area she grew up is a poverty and murder enclave. Immigrants are not even in the frontlines of crime committed in that area. Its citizens against citizens.

And its a good write-up to educate people about neighborhoods they should stay away from irrespective of the cheap rent.

Did you follow her quote? Her quote is not only about neighborhood. South side Chicago is a slum, just as places in Detroit, The Bronx, Ijora, Ajegunle.

But make you come open your dirty mouth say American dream is hard for you based on color. She dey mad! Shey you want make I name many of my friends from Mushin, Agbado, Ajegunle, Bariga, Shomolu etc that are working as tech professionals (cyber security, data science, networking, MBA) with McKinsey, Amazon, Google, PWC, JPMorgan? Some are even lecturers.

Gun violence is real, but no where death and poverty no dey. No be that same Ibadan Sunday Igboho dey chase Fulani terrorists up and down? Na small pikin dey worry that girl. Darling, what other peaceful states can they relocate to?

South Chicago is a poverty, gang and car jacking enclave. Its summer already and all hell will be let lose. Very few sane people reside in hat axis.

No single week passes without someone being shot to death.

This week alone

Brandon Foley
Bruce O`Neal
Rashaun Johnson
Fred Boerma
Anthony Allen
Antonio Wade

All shot to death

And more people will be shot to death this week. Its a constant.

Not everybody had the opportunity you had.

Some struggled to get to the USA and did not bring $1000 into this country. They working their way up and you must agree its really been tough for them. I am certain her parents choose that area cos of cheap rent and why she saw another view of America.

In as much as people become very successful in America, it still does not erase the reality that people are also struggling.

Most people hate my country bcoz of eternal envy & serial denials of US visa @ embassies.
How I wish the US will allow CHINA take over the world Headship just for 10 years.
Let's see what becomes of the Black Race!

Blacks keep complaining of Racism.
Let them embark on a trip to Asia especially China and see damnable hatred for blacks at Bus/train stations, parks and events. CHINA had compared the black man to a Gorrila openly in their museums just few years back. IF not that the world/UN revolted, they would have persisted.

They should also visit RUSSIA and see the mother of Racism. Unfortunately, most Nigerians who detest the US haven't left Nigeria for these countries before, at least to see things 4 themselves. They only pick up smartphones to hurl insults on others.
