Ifeoma Onumonu scored for her club

On the live chat, they were also talking about her pairing with Asisat Oshoala, one of the fan was like she would switch from Kenya to Nigeria.

The NWSL to me is the most followed League World-wide both fans from Serbia, England,
Brazil and Spain were there commenting on the Players and the various signing they want too..

I had to combine watching and reading comments.

Macleans Chinonyerem didn't even start the last game yesterday, she was on the bench. Maybe she would have scored if she had started.

Congratulations to her for the Silver medal, Golden Boot in the bag. I will advise she moves to a tougher league if the deal comes..

Excluding Gift from Falcons’ squad is scandalous, says Izilien

Countries go to war with their available soldiers and it is unfortunate that Nigeria has not learnt that lesson, former Super Falcons’ coach, Godwin Izilien, has told the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Reviewing the list of players available to Nigeria for the Africa Women Cup Of Nations (AWCON) billed to hold in Morocco, Izilien said it was scandalous on the part of the coaches chose to exclude the reigning top scorer in the just-concluded Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Super Six Championship and the player of the season, Monday Gift, from the championship.

He said the FC Robo Queens striker, who was loaned to Bayelsa Queens in the outgoing season, deserves to be among the 32 players listed for the competition.

He wondered why the Falcons’ technical crew would ignore a top striker like Gift, whose outstanding performance at the Women’s league and NWFL Super Six Championship propelled Bayelsa Queens to the NWFL title.

He charged the Falcons’ coach to yield to the public outcry and invite Gift to fight for shirt in the national team, explaining: “One of the hallmarks of the Super Falcons is that they identify talents in the domestic league and invite them to the national team.

“The Falcons team have won laurels in the past with players discovered in Nigeria. So, I don’t understand why Gift, a skillful striker, who scored all her goals in the league and the NWFL Super Six Championship in an outstanding manner, should not be in the Super Falcons’ team preparing for the Women Championship in Morocco.

“At this moment, she is one of the best women players in the Nigerian league, yet, she was not invited to the national team. This is a clear reflection of sentiments in the Falcons’ technical crew and the NFF.

“This is scandalous. NFF should order the Falcons technical crew to invite Gift to the Super Falcons squad.”

While I largely share is sentiments about the inclusion of Gift Monday in the list, this is a no no for me. The NFF should steer clear of the list, it should be the Randy's decision solely. If he is not convinced that Monday isn't ideal for his team at this time then so be it.

We need to start ignoring people like Izilien, who have nothing tangible to contribute but only want to stay relevant.
He should be asked that when he had the talent at his disposal back then, what did he do with it?
Mr. "we will beat you silly" Izilien should please go and sit down and enjoy his retirement. His comments aren't relevant in today's football.

All this Ex-Falcon Coaches with their Sentiments. Imagine if Monday Gift for Example make the provisional list, will she be able to make the final Squad of 23 ahbi 28players for the AWCON?

Even if the make the final list as it stands.. Randy won’t even play her ahead of Oshoala, Onumonu, Kanu, Ordega..

We have Tony Payne who we should literally call a star player in that team as she can play in Defence, Midfield and Attack… the squad is already star studded, lets give Randy the needed support instead of questioning his Selections…

AkinDS how do you see our defence lining up?

With Onome Ebi, Osinachi Ohale, Ashleigh Plumptre and Akudo Ogbonna at Centre Back?

Michelle Alozie, Opeyemi Sunday at RB
Glory Ogbonna, Nicole Payne at LB
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Deltamani: 11:03pm On May 30, 2022
Nicole Payne have majorly played as a Left Back for the Falcons while at West Virginia Mountaineers women's soccer she’s a Right Back..

She’s still raw though, She has the talents and everything required to grow as one of the World best full backs. What I see her lack is her decision making when she overlaps. She hasn’t really been caught off guard coming back..

Morocco 2022: Waldrum makes changes to Nigeria women’s provisional squad

Nigeria women’s coach Randy Waldrum has made surprising changes to his initial Super Falcons’ preliminary squad for the upcoming TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, SavidNews can authoritatively report.

The 32-player group was initially announced two weeks ago by the Nigeria Football Federation for the upcoming training camp in Morocco, where the team will finalise it’s preparations for the WAFCON finals, holding from July 2-23.

While several usual suspects were listed, including Asisat Oshoala and Desire Oparanozie, Waldrum shocking left out in-form duo of striker Gift Monday and midfielder Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene from the provisional squad.

Meanwhile, SavidNews understand the American has finally bowed to pressure by extending late invitation to Bayelsa Queens striker Monday following heavy criticisms that trailed her exclusion after her goalscoring feat at the NWFL Super Six in Benin City.

Monday bagged a brace in 2-1 win over Nasarawa Amazons to help Bayelsa Queens to a fifth title triumph, claiming the Woman of the Match award, the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament and topscorer gong with nine goals in five outings, ending the season with 12 goals from 10 games.

Beside Monday, Waldrum also extended a invitation to defender Chidinma Okeke, who parted ways with Spanish top-flight side Madrid CFF couple of months ago.

The full back, who starred at France 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, has been long out due to injury and last played a competitive match on June 27, 2021.

The late inclusion of Monday and Okeke saw, the American tactician, dropping Edo Queens defender Opeyemi Sunday and Pitea of Sweden striker Anam Imo from the WAFCON roaster.

The development swells the number of local players on the foreign based dominated preliminary list to five.

The African champions were pitted in Group C alongside four-time finalists South Africa, plus first timers in Botswana and Burundi and they will hold a two-week intensive training camp in Morocco from June 18.
The West Africans will kick-off their 10th African title bid against Banyana Banyana in Rabat on 4th July before taking on the Mares on 7th July and then Burundians three days later in Morocco.

Ami Martins nurtures dream of winning Women’s World Cup with an African team

Dreams they say come to reality but the dreamer still have the onus of waking up from the dream and work towards achieving it.

This is the story of United Kingdom-based forward, Priscilla Amita Martins who wants to win the FIFA Women’s World Cup with an African team.

The Kent United forward in an exclusive interview with www.kick442.com shared her dreams.

“I have big dreams to play in the UEFA Women’s Champions League (UWCL) and FIFA Women’s World Cup. I told my brother that I want to win the World Cup with an African team. When I told him, he looked at me like wow! That’s a big one. I have always felt my purpose is linked with football. For those things, I leave them in God’s hands and we will see where this journey takes me.”

Amita Martins is eligible to play for Nigeria, Ghana, and England as she spoke about her background and how her football journey started.

“My parents are Nigerian similar to myself. They were born in London but both were raised between London and Nigeria so they have experience from both ends. My mother was actually half Ghanian but we have forgiven her for that. I have been playing football since when I was very young. But real football started at the university level when I was doing my undergraduate. Before that, I just play for fun on the playground with my mates (mostly boys) and was much accepted by the guys. I play every lunchtime. At the end of my undergraduate study, I tried to decide what I am going to do next and it was like a football scholarship fell in my lap. To be honest, it wasn’t planned but kind of happened.” She told www.kick442.com.

The 28-year-old former Carolina Lady Dynamo, Charlton Athletic Women, Crystal Palace Ladies, and QPR Women player holds a Master’s Degree in Project Management.

“At that time, I was already thinking about Masters and wasn’t sure until it was confirmed that I can get Masters scholarship, I decided to give it a try.” She continued. “After trials and exhibition, I got an offer from a University. After that, the next thing I knew was that I had to fly out to Tennessee. Going to Tennessee was like stepping out of my comfort zone, especially during the Donald Trump era. I went there with an open mind. It was a great time and difficult years because I have never experienced anything like that. One has to be quite disciplined and schedule oneself to compete at the highest level in soccer as well as maintain a good grade in class. It was a lot of aspects that were new to me. I had to juggle the two together with a new environment. I did a year there and played in the Conference Carolinas which was a great experience living in a house with teammates which was just a short walk from campus. There were some difficulties but generally, I will like to go through that again.

“When I finished that year, I decided to try everything that I can to play at the highest level ad put my 110% and see where it takes me in terms of football. I started looking for a team as some of my summer teammates wanted to play the WPSL for the summer which made me go for some trials. There were logistics issues for me as an international student without a car to get to the trials. My boyfriend helped me out with some cash. I had to go on different trials in different states hoping to see one that will help with accommodation.”

In the 2021/2022 FA Women’s National League Southeast season, Amita Martins scored 15 goals with 5 assists in 19 games for Kent United.

“From the trials, I ended up at Carolina Lady Dynamo for the summer. I am not sure if that club exists anymore. it was fun, intense, and with hot weather unlike what is obtainable in England. After playing a full year in Tennessee, I kind of get used to it before returning to London around November 2017 to continue looking for teams and went for some trials. Played for Crystal Palace for some time followed by QPR Ladies, Chichester Women, Crawley, and then during the just-concluded season I was playing for Kent. During that time, we had the pandemic which took about two years of playing time from us.” She concluded.

Ami Martins is an adaptable goal scorer that combines her speed and technical ability to create and carve through defences with a repertoire of finishing techniques at her disposal giving her a clinical edge in front of goal.

She has played for King University Women’s Soccer team, Carolina Lady Dynamo, Charlton Athletic Women, Crystal Palace Ladies, QPR Women FC, Chichester City LFC, Crawley Wasps, London Helvecia Ladies Futsal, and currently with Kent United.

Africans are at times the biggest haters. Someone cannot do something good without getting backlash. At least they didn't make this one strip naked.

There is nothing good about the dude's appearance or the goals he scored. This dude should not be involved with female sports.

I didn't use hate, I used HATER which is much different from hate although this would be called racist if it happened abroad. Without a shred of evidence people are calling a 16 year old girl a man. U don't make accusations like that without evidence.

I have seen loads of women in Nigeria with that type of strong face.

If she didn't score 4 goals nobody would have said a word.

Nigerians are funny. How could you get be a hater without hating?

13 goals and 10 assist this season for Superfalcon Midfielder Peace Efih in Israel..

That's the lingo. Ja Morant called his father his biggest hater, does that mean that the man hates his son? Of course not. It just means he always has something to say that diminishes Ja's achievement.

Right now yes, she's very fit haven played all season and the recent Super6 for Edo Queens.
She played both against South Africa during the Aisha Buhari Cup last year and both Legs of the AWCON qualifying game against Ghana.. she didn't do bad. I will definitely go with Okeke ahead of her but right now with Okeke haven't played any game this past season after recovering from injury it will be safe to say Opeyemi Sunday is very much inform than Okeke who's just training here in Lagos unlike Opeyemi who have been playing all season.

I just hope they reduce it to the normal 23players... The various National Teams for the Euro are going with 23 players only which I think is enough for the 3 weeks tournament..

It's not by force to follow the European way. Plus, why take the opportunity away from those players. Even if they are not needed it will still be a great experience.

Hope to see her play for the Nigerian Superfalcons in the Future... A Star Player who has similar traits as Brazilian legendary Marta Viera da Silva. I will prefer Barcelona Femenino for her... But she was born in Madrid and lives in Madrid so Maybe she will chose between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid

I only mentioned European as an Example, FIFA used 23 at the last two World Cup in Canada and France..

It would be a great experience for them but I still prefer 23... Not me to decide for CAF... Just my choice
