Sun dried green plantain - grinded into powder.

Looks like the usual amala after turning it in hot water
I think -
Yam amala (light brown)
Plantain amala (very dark brown)
Someone made it here and I like it.
My mom do make okpo ogede from it.
I was under the impression we would be drying the peels here, not the actual plantains themselves. undecided

So. Amala is not made with yam peel?, lipsrsealed

I can imagine. My business really needs one badly right now. I'm praying for God's blessings to be able to replace the spoilt one soon
Ugh distance is a bitch . I just gave my Hamilton beach mixer to some guy I don’t even know like that. He said his wife needed it.

It wouldn’t have made sense to try to ship to it anyone far away due to cost of shipping so I was even thanking him for taking off my hands.

All the gadgets we accumulated - mine has been decorating one side for a while. Christmas thingz only... i bring them out to make something for coworkers and friends.
So busy and not crazy about food that I rarely do the things I bought them for.

Of all - I still use bullet often. Juicer dey one corner
Toaster only Saturday or Sunday
Deep frier dey one corner i don't know where lol
Others...I just arranged them well in the cupboard.
You give away and then buy another new one - unless you haven't visited the store grin

If only I can go to my neighbors and take theirs to use grin then I will just be gadgets free.

My juicer and bread maker are also collecting dust grin. They are kinda big and I want smaller easy to clean pieces. I got rid of my deep frier because I want a new different colored one. At one point I was trying to color match stuff so I ended up with a few double gadgets .
But otherwise I use everything else. Air fryer, mixer. processor etc.
I’ve been working on being prudent and not being a hoarder. It’s kinda hard because pretty stuff keeps stocking the shelves.

But sometimes all you need is a pot and a stove and that’s it

I don't know about the yam peel being used. I thought dried yam for amala.

Not dry peel for plantain but the plantain itself. Dried and grind for plantain amala.

When I was a kid, our neighbors used to dry yam peels and said it was used in making the dark kind of elubo. undecided

I see - plantain amala is very dark. I like eating it with stew or melon stew.

When I buy and make it, i will call you to come eat (hot from the amala pot)

Reading your post and that of armyofone is making me feel discouraged from buying a mixer. I wanted to mainly because of bread making but may reconsider since brioche bread is the major reason I need it.

I feel like you’ve posted home made bread here more than I can count so I’m convinced you’ll use it often.

If you buy a good brand, it will last years so even if you don’t use it everyday, whenever you want to use it, you can whip it out and not worry if it will work or not.

I have. The only times I bought bread last year and this year are the first week of relocation. I enjoy making our bread and truly, so mixer would make it more convenient.

Will go ahead to get it.
