Didn't happen to me.

Also, I didn't do the checking all through the first night.

Not everyone. The night I got my first car, I couldn't sleep, I was checking the car every 20mins. The following day, I read the manual page by page. I washed this car everyday, infact the car takes over almost everything about me. Now tell me, how will I ever forget I get the car?

My late cousin, God rest his soul, got his first car, a Camry 1996 model, delivered to him at
his office in Sanusi Fafunwa, VI-Lagos from Cotonuo. Guyman was already inside an Ogba-bound danfo bus on 3rd Mainland Bridge late in the night when he remembered that he has a "new" car parked in the office.

It was Friday, car key was with office security, was torn between going back to the office now, tomorrow or wait till Monday. Also didn't know how to drive properly, but went back that night and the car drove him home (sic). Man always bragged no one taught him how to drive because that was how he began his driving journey.

We never got over laughing on this issue.

Lies

Maybe an exaggeration, but not an outright lie. My pastor had the same experience. A few days after buying his first car, a Sienna, he drove it to the venue of an event and when he was leaving, walked past the vehicle and took a bike home. It was when he got home and was changing out of his clothes that the keys fell out of his pocket. That is when he remembered he had a car. Na so the man took another bike back to where he parked grin

grin Very funny.

When I bought my first car, I will wake up in the wee hours of the morning to confirm that the car had not been stolen; it was a recurring fear. Lol

In 2009 when I got my first car, drove it to the ATM and trekked back home. Took a nap and woke up, remembering I had a car, got up looked through window where I normally park it. Screamed my car has been stolen!! grin

Well, good for you. For some people, they forget that they don't have cars yet. When they close from work, they go to the parking lot and start searching for the cars they parked in their head. Until they remember it's only in their heads.

Canadian weed is not for everyone grin

The man added sugar to the story, I don't believe it happened like that......Why would he think it was stolen? That was where he added the sugar.

He can't deceive everybody with that story.

Most people would say it's a lie or go with the checking up on car stories which was true for me too, but thing is alotta people have had this experience, myself included, if your on a 9-5 job you get so used to flying either taxis or bike, remembering you've just got a car would be the least on your mind, cos you just want to get home fast and get shit done or relax.

A Nigerian man bought his first car and drove it work in style. But when he closed, he forgot the car at his work place and jumped on public transport like before and went home and slept off.

He woke up in the night and started looking for the car, thinking it has been stolen.

Here is what he wrote

A few weeks after I bought my first car around 2012, I went home forgetting that already had a car. I woke up around 11pm and cried that the car had been stolen. I went to work next day and found the silly car siting there.

It's conditioned reflex
I don't drive except going out with family. There was this day I drove out, on my way back when I got to the bust stop where I normally board bike, I actually parked and was about coming down to board bike before my brain reboot.
If you continually perform a particular task, your body memorizes the sequence and tends to execute on its own.

It’s a fact; once you’ve been poor for too long, it takes grace to adapt to a new pattern of life. Cuz your mind would be like Omo nah okada I jump come work ooh , forgetting that you now walk with four legs
May God bless everyone struggling in the trench
It’s really not easy at all
Mine was not car, I was teaching for two years and earned peanuts so my spending was basically for food and other essential needs, got another job that was paying a bit higher and I get home at night, sometimes I buy suya or fruits as man no fit kill himself but sometimes I forget that I bought those things only to find them in my bag the next day or remember it at midnight. Poverty na serious bastard.

Quite a funny experience....

Sometimes, I will hold cash on my left hand and be scattering everywhere looking for it.

This one happened to me today.
I thought I had lost the money, I had to call the last place I visited to look for 28500 for me. Only for me to calm down and search my back bag, na so I see the .Oney sitting there calmly.
Gosh I felt stupid.

It has nothing to do with poverty, just that some people handle things differently.
Mr A, has 4 hilux 2014 model rented to a Chinese construction company , has 2 private cars , pays his driver 30k every week but he can drive. He ply okada anytime, any day when he wants.
Some people can become rich of sudden and start misbehaving.
