What if Proffesor Yemi Osinbajo comes out as independent candidate?

History has shown that indirect primaries in Nigeria have never produced candidates who truly have the interest of Nigerians at heart and we can no longer put the future of our children in the hands of these old inept recycled politicians.

I still believe in Proffesor Osinbajo and there is a provision for independent candidacy in our constitution.

I am convinced that this will be a viable path at this juncture, an option worth exploring.
Even as vice president osinbajo couldn't even match tinubu in terms of buying delegates, sometimes I wonder why we sell leadership in this country, tinubu won because he bought almost all the delegates even those politicans that step down for him he secretly bought apc 100million nomination form for them, money politics, tinubu that owns billion vans , well independent candidate is good but will prof try it because he seem not happy with the outcome of apc primary

The electorates in the villages listen to party chairmen or leaders. They dont know who they're voting for but do what these leaders tell them. These leaders are either in APC or PDP. Its called structure
I disagree with u bro, some electorate not all the electorate in village follow the party leader some follow thier mind, I was posted to a village during the last presidential election as an election observant, I saw what happened, some pple after collecting money from the party agents the went further to vote thier mind

Nigeria is still highly religious...

If Osibanjo indicates interest independently (I doubt he will do this), most churches across the nation (if not all) will campaign for him, and induce their members all over the nation to vote for him!

Of course he won't win... But, this will severely deal a huge blow to Tinubu's chances! Atiku will simply take the day!

Atiku's biggest Trump card going forward is the divided South, and a United North!

Many people are so ignorant.

A VP has no power to do anything. A VP is only as important as the president makes him
many don't know this. The functions of a VP is only ceremonial.

do you guys have any brain cells, firstly where do you see independent candidate in our constitution? secondly, fringe parties cannot man 170,000 polling booths and are struggling to build structures and it is independent candidate that you think that can prevail in such an environment. You guys refused to engage your brains during his campaign, try an at least show that you learnt something from the defeat by engaging your brains!!!

He will still lose. And this time, woefully and pitifully. Stop overhyping this man. He’s only popular in a fraction. He has no base or structures. His true characters are not known as well. He hides behind his signature pad to conceive his true person.

Buying delegates to win a mere Primary is not the same as pulling votes in a general free and fair election sir.

No matter how rich and desperate, can he buy majority of voters across the nation?!!

The biggest headache for him now is how United the North is, while the South which should be his stronghold is terribly divided.

Some people are wickedly pushing the VP to utter destruction politically.

Please let the man rest, heal and reconcile with his political family. Stop these insinuations, as even if the option was available as per existing electoral laws, he will still be trounced.

Winning elections is not by good oratory skills, but rather by loyalty, competency, political structure, good financial war chest and acceptability by the political ruling class.

The VP has none of this except the war chest. Please forget Social Media hype.

Even me, the way I write to promote Osinbajo, you will think he is paying me.

So I strongly believe that SOME NIGERIANS will do that and even do it is ithout expecting a dime.

The Osinbajo group has fundings from private pockets so i see this as the least of all obstacles

Are you talking about Osinbajo that has been politically brutalised, presently traumatized and is presently recuperating in the arms of his wife?

The political class pushed him into his Waterloo and now the social media wants to push him into extinction.

Best of luck, pastor.

Won't work?

But I just stated the possibility of money bags helping and you dont need any political structure to make the electorates vote for you.

We are not talking about primates.

The money here will be for mobilization. Of agents and not bribing electorates so what do they need billions for?

How will the money bags get back their money?

How much money and time have you spent educating these people? Even abroad with all the millions they spend on voter awareness, voter registerations and education, half the country still voted for Trump TWICE! Remember pathos and ethos, where logic fails people tend to use emotions. Until the youths form a party of their own and are able to match these old men money for money, persuassion for persuassion and power for power, we ain't ready yet!
You are right but this will take long time. Nigeria is too divided. Coming together is very difficult. But it is not impossible!

Keep fooling yourself, you social media party leaders. Number 1, there is no independent candidacy in our Laws hence you should STOP LYING to people.

Number 2, Professor Yemi Osinbajo has been variously reported to have given money to delegates, so this foolish attempt to paint him as holy is dead on arrival.

Some of you are so arrogant that you can’t accept you can’t have your way all the time.

Shey you dey whine me ni. This man was failure for 7 years yet some of you are hyping him. Atiku's score card as VP is outstanding compared to Osibanjo. The only thing this professor will be known for in history is wasting billions of naira on Tradermoni. He is not that bright in governance or resource management.

He is a lightweight politically. A sitting VP came 3rd and a very distant third at that. Nobody really respects him apart from the online herd. I was ashamed for him at Eagle square when he was called to speak and his rented crowd were constituting nuisance. Delegates just dey look am say wetin dey do this one.

And what was Atiku's score card if I may ask? You mean brazenly been at loggerheads with his boss?
As VP you should know your functions are limited, even though constitutionally you have economic powers and functions, in practice that is not always the case.
So the only time you really get to act is when the President is absent, and Osinbanjo showed promise in Buhari's absence, and his intention to contest for Presidency is a non-tacit way of disagreeing with Buhari's administration and a chance to do things differently. It would grossly deplete him and any iota of support he could have gotten from Buhari.
Atiku has political might far more than Osinbanjo, which is why he (Atiku) had the balls to contest against Obasanjo. Do not mistake that with performance. And political might is what transpired and will always transpire at this level of selecting a flag bearer, and not credibility.
In all fairness, we all know who is a more trusting candidate between Osinbanjo and Tinubu.
Osinbanjo has been in the mix of a failed government, and for me there is no better person to know what decisions went wrong than him.
