Victor Osimhen: 17 Goal Involvements (G+A) in 17 NT Starts. Beastly

Victor Osimhen's Goal today was his 11th goal in Senior NT colors across 21 caps (17 starts).

That makes it 11 goals, 6 assists for Osimhen in NT colors.

Victor, the Monster Machine. cool

Note: The Togo game back in 2017 isn't regarded as an official cap. This same game came up as invalid when the issue of Musa's 100 caps first surfaced.

TheSuperNerd:

My namesake, I did ooo. Should be burying it but I commend his initial movement and control to even get off a strike in the first place off that Osimhen header flick-on but it pales in comparison to the biggest chance we squandered today no thanks to Samuel Chukwueze.

I was already screaming goal at work when I saw Osimhen do what I expected him to do. Don't shoot just lay it on a plate for the incoming Chuks from the right channel.... Ahhh Chukwueze ended me in that moment. He broke my heart... sad

But shaa... we move.... my heart Don heal back quick quick.

But that chance ehn... chaaiiii...

I liked how he was calm but the touches didn't go on point.

I still don't want to process that chuks miss. Its Yakubuic. Just you and Keeper. Osimhen was definitely angry sotey he pushed chuks to leave his box for him. grin

Finally, something i hoped you noticed....

It's not conclusive o, but Uzoho is already showing Enyeama Elements. That part where the GK shouts down the necks of his defenders, teammates. E remain to dey add top response to setpieces to be like Vin. Boss your box as a GK. Ajayi just looked as sluggish as Chuks.

Concerning the first goal Ekong was very amateurish in his defending, he allowed himself to be drawn too wide as a CB when he should have stood his ground and allowed Aina time to recover, very juvenile defending from an almost retiring CB

That Moses pass was actually meant for Osimhen. Iwobi broke thru and got the goal. Rewatch it. Smart guy Iwobi. Once in the box in GWG, he has a 100% goal record. Check it. Especially in Qualifiers.

Looks like JPes loves the duo of Iwobi and Aribo. I don't see any person big enough to break rank on these two. I wonder how it would seem with Nacho in the lineup. He will make that RHS click. If Simon continues to do the rubbish he does, it will be Tunisia all again when we jam a more technical, equal team, at least. Guy should be syncing with Bassey by now. Chai.

JPes loves Aina. Make Ebuehi return asap abeg. Tired of that number 12. undecided

Ajayi actually tried. Not the most elite performance but he did okay. Won 6 of his 8 duels (4/6 ground duels and 2/2 aerial duels).
Also was the most fouled player on the Nigerian side.... alongside Aribo.

And ofcos those you earlier quoted are recovery stats. He did resume possession for us multiple times.

It's exactly the angle, but its deceptive in a way. Guy underperformed, wasn't at energy level of their attackers. But recovery increased after Etebo came on.
A 6.0 not bad. Anything under 7

Jose Peseiro Post Match

"We are better than Sierra Leone in this game, we deserve to win. We changed the setup in the second half, I think it was only the last 10 minutes our opponent had some good moments."

"We created a lot of scoring chances, we could have won with a bigger margin, but the team needs more time and we must work."

Taaaaa!!!! No be hype.

Afcon came and he flunked and I flogged his performances. It was shambolic. I called it as it is.

But Post-Afcon, the lad was simply "reborn". He became a rejuvenated Creature under Lampard. His workrate especially has taken a huge climb. His performance indexes speak for him.

Dude is on fire. And trust me.. I am again saying it as it is. So no Iwobi slander shall be tolerated from thee unless it is well deserved.

So keep your carpentry-survey lights off him. grin

The only real positive I took from this game was our press in the second half. The press was so organized, directed and lethal, it caused mistakes that led to several chances including Chukwueze’s one on one.

Iwobi was at the heart of that press.

I have always said that if Iwobi can add end products and intensity to his game, he would be a very good player. Lampard has helped him gain intensity, with time we will see if his end product is sustainable.
