the first issue with your comment is the fact that Nigeria has more than one stadium.

the second issue is the NFF knew that was where they wanted to use and didn't ask the Sports Ministry ban people from using or renting it for at least 1 week before match so that during that week the groundsmen/groundswomen can carry out maintenance on the pitch..

the third issue is even if it was used by age grade teams and PDP, immediately after they are done with it, the NFF should carry out maintenance on it...

Well.. since Lagos stadium was abandoned, Abuja has taken over as the national stadium for super eagles match..so there's no big deal in the NFF taking the game there... The only fault I can find here is the fact that they allowed the pitch to be overused before the game... Against Ghana, we saw how good the pitch was..

This your overuse thing dey one kind. Clubs play steadily in their stadiums yet the thing dey dey sambeya. Wetin happen to we National stadium why it just dey like heat map. Even after they said groundsmen have worked on it.

The nature of the pitch is another factor.. Ours is natural grass.. In European, it's mostly synthetic grass they use.. Nature grass pitches can handle so much pressure like that...
I still wonder why they didn't use synthetic grass for the Abuja stadium...If Enyimba could do it, Abuja too can...

The overuse excuse can't be taken seriously when Akwa United and Dakkada play in the same stadium that recently hosted a CAF final.

You want to compare the foot traffic 22 players and officials to a horde of delegates?

Untrue. Europe uses only natural grass.

Using natural grass is easy. It is all about maintenance. You need to maintain a pitch weekly. You need proper drainage and irrigation systems, proper grass replacement etc. In Nigeria, we just think setting a pitch is sufficient, and that is why our pitches deteriorate.

Hybrid pitch is what I meant to type.. it's what's used in most major stadiums in Europe.. Allianz arena is one of the few major stadiums I can point out that use 100% natural grass.. the rest use hybrid..

Obviously, we can't properly maintain natural grass pitches in this country,so it's better we go for hybrid..

The main bowl of the stadium was never used by the political parties.

APC
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has departed the Eagles Square, the venue of the presidential primary of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

According to reports, Osinbajo left the event while the counting of votes by national delegates was still ongoing.

PDP

So the excuse of political primaries disrupting the pitch doesnt fly.

I thought NNPP did.

Meanwhile, what excuse are you talking about? I'm only juggling possible reasons why the pitch deteriorated that much

Hope you know that the kind of hybrid used in European stadiums is 100% natural grass. What is hybrid about is just fibres in the ground to help in stability and assist drainage. Google "Desso grass master". that's what they all use

That method does not influence the look of the grass. it only helps to remain in place when kicked around. Since the 90s European natural pitches have been nice. What changed with Desso was elimination of water logged pitches and strengthening of grass most evident in the 11yd box.

Osimehn is yet to have a co- beast as pairing partner. I think Isaac Success will not be a bad idea. His 2 goals and 7 assist in 22 Sería A matches is not a bad stat.

Naija Talents Watch: Ozor Okeke, 15-16yrs

One of the lads expected to fly Nigeria's flag in Ghana at the Wafu B U17 Afcon Qualifiers tournament.

Like already mentioned in my U17 Players to watch at the WafuB, he's a young Midfield Dynamo from Triple44 Football Academy, based in Ibadan.

Same academy produced Peter Olawale of the last U17 class (2019) who is now at Hapoel R'anana in Israel and Emmanuel Adeyemo who is at FC Vizela.

Ozor Okeke is expected to be the team's conductor and driving force through the middle. More will be seen from him as from this weekend in Ghana.

Keep watch at the WafuB u17.

The Day is finally here.

The Wafu b U17 Afcon Qualifier Tournament begins.

The Nduka Ugbade-tutored lads featuring this midfield talent above, Ozor, will resume their quest for Glory and Qualification for the U17 Afcon Proper to be held in Algeria next year.

First up in the way is Ghana. The fixtures are as seen below.

Indeed. Isaac Success at Udinese operates really well off or in tandem with a main striker. Drops deep, works the channels, can play in the halfspaces, and also has good linkup and holdup plays. This suggestion is another good one. I would love to see a Success tried out alongside Osimhen at some point if or whenever he's invited.

Iheanacho is another also good enough in a 2 man attack but he isn't as physically built. He is highly technical though and interprets the SS role to his own taste. His final ball expertise in that role is still unmatched among our striking options. My only issue is he hardly falls back enough to help the midfield even though his workrate was a joy to see in that Egypt game at the Afcon. I think Success kinda does this better judging by what I watched in 21/22 at Udinese.

Based on those invited for this window, I still feel Sadiq can do the job in a 2 man attack based on his attributes but I think his physical traits is where Success edges him huge. Success is a beast physically and technically good as well.

Sadiq really was not at his expected best in the last game even though they were just 2 occasions (for me) where he linked up okay with Victor but more was expected. May need time but with more options waiting in the wings, he may not have that much time.

So again, Success is a fine suggestion. He is probably the only other name aside Iheanacho (& maybe Dennis... big maybe) I could think up when sitting back to analyse who else can do a job for us alongside Victor(who's the main striker) when we play 2 up top. This was in the light of Sadiq not clicking as expected with Victor vs SLE. But to be fair, it was their first start together.

grin grin You're blaming the pitch in Abuja ? What's wrong with the pitch? That pitch was world standard. It was recent renovated by Dangote lol.
Please, stop these blame games.
That pitch is bad
I saw the signs 10 weeks ago
It had patches in certain areas
Not totally green lush evenly cut grass all over
The ball wasn’t free flowing
Thursday match confirms this
Please carefully watch the Ghana game again

I really loved that Garoua pitch & bowl design in Cameroon
Probably one of the most simple and attractive pitches I’ve seen in Africa

It comes second to the new Senegalese pitch in my opinion
