Satanically written nonsense to paint Peter Obi black. It can't work. Go look for another one. What was the value of the investment as at 2017, and 2018? We know how things can be manipulated overnight in Nigeria to score cheap point. |

Paullo19:Which kind of nonsense is this. Sabmiller is a foreign south african company, which means they obviouly deal with dollars(the most popular currency in the world) Obi invested approximately 12million dollars which depreciated to 5 million dollars and you call that profit That is an huge about 60% loss. I will explain something to you now: as at when Obi invested the funds in dollars. Dollar to Naira was approximately #159 to $1. Meaning the $12 000 000 obi invested then worth about $12 000 000× 159= $1.9Billion The shares further depreciated to a cost of $5000 000. Using the same rate 5000 000 × 159 = $795 million Now 2022, the rate is about #450 to 1$. If Obi's 12 million dollars investment had not depreciated or appreciated at all, it should worth about $12 000 000×450 = 5.4billion dollars which is much lower than the $5000 000 ×450= 2.2billion it worths now Now you can see that the devaluing of naira is what inflated the value of the investment. He made a huge loss in dollars. Anambra state made a very bad loss. What the shares worth now ,is much lesser than the initial amount that was used to purchase it. |

/ Someone invested $12m into public enterprise and lost $7m with a balance of $5m. Someone invested more than $12m into his private pocket with no yield seen to the masses. Which one is causing ruckus? The one who tried. Not the ones who looted 100% into their private pockets. I am very disappointed at Buhari. Obviously he is not making Nigeria hard enough. / |

Paullo19: This is the problem with ignorant people like you, you want to argue and jump into discussions, but you can not read, comprehend or follow simple internet discussions. Fool asking for facts even though is right there in black and white from Anambra state government itself. The fool said currency when in fact customers are just not interested in what the company is selling, even market and social conditions don change sef. A huge segment of our population is not like our beer drinking parents now we drink wine, cocktails, liquors like Hennessy, Vodka, Tequila and so on. The market is changing and smart investment and money managers should know all about market and consumption trends and quickly make adjustments or diversify. Dude, abeg go back to elementary school, you are a huge embarrassment.

Paullo19:Calm down. Naira has nothing to do with the investment he made in dollars. The devaluation of naira actually helped him, since it gave dollars more value, so $5 million in 2013 is less than $5 million today. What me I am trying to point out is how the 12 million dollar shares, which should be about 5billion naira today ,went down to 5 million dollars which is about 2 billion naira. Anambra made a huge loss in dollars, but the amount got inflated by the lower value naira. Remember Inflation rate since then has also increased significantly. So even with the fact that the valueless naira gave it a leg, the neck pressing Inflation rate since twill take it back. |

A former Governor of a state invested N1,955,535,247, and today the investment worth is about N2,240,266,952. An increase of about 15%, despite the harsh business environment in Nigeria now. Surprisingly, the only screeching headline the author of this piece could come up with is the USD equivalence of the investment and some folks are gleeful about the investment ‘loss”. While some of Peter Obi peers in various states looted their state treasury, he had the uncommon sense to invest for the future. And here, based on a slanted headline, some folks are ecstatic. Jumping up and down…we finally got him. What a country! |

plaindealer:Lol, many of them are confused. One was actually blaming our exchange rate, not knowing, it was even the high exchange rate that gave them the little profit they are clinging to in naira. Profit that inflation will still collect from them. Anambra lost in the most valued dollars, but gained in low value naira. AND they call that profit. |

I really don't understand our level of intelligence anymore. Peter Obi governed Anambra state for eight years and made investments and savings decisions for the state. On the day he handed over to the next governor Obiano who has also ruled Anambra state for another eight years thereafter what was the value of the investment and savings? You cannot blame Peter Obi if the investment has suffered liosses thereafter because Obiano should have liquidated the investment. Anyway who God has blessed, no one can curse. We are totally OBIDIENT. 1 Like |

Paullo19:Devaluation of naira helped your guy. If naira was not devalued, the Investment would be about 750 million naira and not 2.2b. Inflation will still do its part. He bought the shares in dollars. Revenue in Nigeria is obviously in naira, but you buy shares from international companies with popular currencies. Sabmiller invested 100million dollars in Onitsha brewry not naira, Anambra added their amount in the brewry in dollars. Obi is always saying dollars for a reason . International brewries normaly is not doing fine, the the value of their shares has had a decrease of about %1000 since 2013. So the decrease in the value of anambra's shares is not rocket science. |
