We have to obey the laws if we want to progress as a nation. What you can't do in London is what you are doing in Nigeria. We all want a sane country but we don't want to be sane.
So in London, your vehicle is impounded and auctioned off when you break traffic offense,

Go and sit down. Is driving against traffic the only crime remaining to be fought in Lagos?
You mentioned London,do they auction siezed properties?
So if Nigeria start obeying traffic rules,it is now like London.

Will you be imprisoned for 3 years for driving against traffic in the UK?

3 months.

And I would not doubt such a law exists.

For sure, the person would end up in a Psychiatric ward.

All thanks to Tinubu, a very big thanks to him.

This is a man some føolish idiotic nonentities believed and think that Nigerians will vote for so that he can continue with his oppressive rule.

Atleast there should have been a warning given to defaulters by paying a little amount of money , but no, it's total seizing of cars and auctioning it at ridiculous amount, so that poor people will Continue to suffer endlessly.

He can only be a president of Iragbiji not Nigeria, Incase he needs my vote to be life president of Iragbiji community, I am ready to vote him.

You are very correct. Tinubu made him drive against traffic.....

Auctioning won't stop it either, the problem lies with the government for improper Urban planning and terrible roads.

All of them took one-way to beat traffic.
Oga, in an urban city, you cannot remove traffic. Google the worst traffic cities in the world and you will be surprised they are in the developed world. This guys must not be impatient at other people life's detriment

Good morning mr idiot, do you have any relatives in abroad? Ask the how things are done if you go against rules and law , because you can’t think deeply before open your mouth. Nigeria at 60 plus no order people behave anyhow as if there is no law but when they see or watch how things is being done abroad they admired it, but to behave well here is a problem.
Don’t you know sometimes we learn through pain that happen to us …. Nigerians like enjoyment and shortcut to life than follow the right law .
We need a tough president not someone that can change how things is being done not your incompetent obi that keep lying around the street.

[img][/img]The law does not work by tears and sympathy, law is law, it is lack of effective dispensation of justice, that made Nnamdi Kanu make slaves.if igbos, if the state government of south east was effective, they would have either killed Kanu or tamed him. If you can't keep to the laws of Lagos, leave. Nobody invited you here.

Nigerians will feel that they can always bribe/pay and get their car back. They will still break the law again.
But with this auctioning, Nigerians will realise that once you break the law, your car is gone!
Don't break the law
I don't think if you pay 200k fine you'll mishave again.
Imponding people cars and selling them off is a criminal act.

It's better you destroy those vehicles than sell them.

We all have complained about corruption and lawlessness in the country.

Some of you/us have suggested stricter punishment in other to cub these menace.
If state or federal government enforces laws like this, people will bring politics into it, though even me writing this felt pity for the guy and his mother.

I will advice Lagos State government to use more of ticketing or fine.
This auction process with time will attract corruption, as officials might not be following due process in seizing and auctioning

I always hated driving one way, but I never understood the gravity until I was nearly knocked down by one.

Went somewhere, parked in a street and proceeded to cross the road.

I cross the first part, stood on that demarcation to cross the second side. I looked to the right because that is the only side vehicles should be coming from. Next thing I heard people shouting. That was when I looked to my left and saw this SUV less than a feet from me.

In my confused state I ran backwards because it looked like he was swerving to the left. He swerved to the right but made sure not to hit me. I broke my ankle and couldn’t walk properly for a while. It could have been worse.

All this yada yada talk of his child being sick is not relevant here.

pele . sorry about that. you must have used your convalescence period to beat up your fav red pillers

i went to my much older cousins house with my mum yesterday. his first son [17 yr ] is dead in an accident. their fking driver was driving one way and the car got hit by a trailer. as is always the case the fking driver escaped.

add all the fking okadas who are shining light DIRECTLY in your eyes at night , driving facing you and still claiming right.

What you won't try abroad you want to do in Nigeria then turn around to blast you own country.
may be you have not stayed in Lagos . If road where normal why pass one way . For year apapa people used one way to get to port including top govt official and lastma people . The road has been turned to park by truck and if you hook na still next day .

There are traffic offences and then, there is one way driving. Normal traffic offences attract fines.

For one way drivers, you are seen as driving your vehicle with intent to kill. This is because of the high likelihood of knocking down passers by and other motorists.

I have personally seen 2 people knocked down by one way drivers and I don't wish it on anyone. I believe jailing one way drivers and confiscating their vehicles is in order.

Im not asking for them to be left free, if no one died, give them choice of 3 months imprisonment or 200k,if they killed then you can take the car. People makinh these rules from my experience have made money of the commoners and usually move to ikoyi or less peasantly affordable locations so they dont go through what MOST of the one way perpetrators go through.

Tha Lag government should stop being hostile to human beings. The jail term should not be more than 3 months and 100,000 naira fine to get their vehicle back, it is enough for any body to get sense and not repeat the traffic offence again. And if you are convicted twice, your vehicle can be auctioned .
